MY OVARIES OH

I hate confrontations so much. As a child anytime anyone threatened to report me to my mom. I would do anything they say .

A lot of bullies made way with my lunch money because of this. It was a common knowledge among the kids that my mom would always beat me first before hearing my side of the story.

Even after hearing my story, I still got beaten for not being the perfect example to other children as a Pastor’s daughter.

For a whole year, I gave a neighbour my lunch money and sometimes did some of her chores because she threatened to report me to my mom. You might wonder what I did. Her dad had drinking problem which bothered her devoted Christian mom greatly and as a concerned friend I prayed to God to intervene and I dreamt that her paternal grandmother put a calabash in his tummy so he would drink till he was financially ruined, small innocent me told her my dream without thinking twice anyway that was the end of our friendship and she threatened to tell my mom.

I paid for her silence.

Some months after my eight birthday, she came as usual to collect my lunch money. I was tired and fed up and called her bluff. She threatened again, I was so angry I marched up to my mom myself and narrated all that happened, I was expecting the beating of my life but surprisingly my mom gave me a knock on my head, for not telling her earlier and told my bully off.

This experience began a new era in our relationship, she gave me a hug and told me to always come to her no matter what. She has stood true to her word all through and has been my greatest support ever since. 

As a mother now this experience has shaped me to always listen to my kids, not just what is being said, I have learnt to read their silence and body language too. I am determined to be not just a mom but a friend they can tell everything.

P.s the paternal grandmother later confessed to the same thing.

Stella,

I heard the strangest news yesterday. My brother-in-law was speaking with a friend of his that was an acquaintance of Ataga. I think they participate in “wild parties” together. The friend told my bro-in-law that he was among the people that went to retrieve Ataga’s corpse but that “they” don’t want Chidinma to get killed by sentencing. 

They are making donations for her. Their reason is that she is “too sweet”.

My sister called me and told me yesterday and I’m baffled. What is happening in this present day Nigeria? Is this a joke? So they want to save a murderer??? How??? Because of immorality??!!. I’m tired of Nigeria and we all blame the government but we are the problem.

I wanted to vent to you. Let’s wait and hear the end of this story. Or are they the ones that sent that girl to kill him? Who protects their friend’s murderer?

Abeg I dey work. Lemme go back to my work.
