BV Martins aboy happy birthday to your first fruit, I didnt even remember this morning to wish him in Spontaneous post.... I am still weak from the COVID 19 Jab and not thinking straight..... very weak but grateful.

BV Choclat noir and I had a conversation today and because she is my twin sister from another mama, she wants to share the blessed name JEWELUCHI with me and i have agreed so from now on she wishes to be known as Jeweluchi Choclat Noir... All former documents remain valid.

Please dont add Jeweluchi to your name without asking me first cos i know how people can do follow follow oh....

In other news BV Jeweluchi Choclat noir has sent me 30k to gift BV Martins aboys son, 10k for Blog PA (side eyes at Blog PA) and 10k for whoever else i like to give......

MY OVARIES OH

The name Omugwo is an igbo term for post partum care giving to a woman who just gave birth. This period is to be used to pamper the new mother and help her transition into motherhood easily. A lot of cultures have different practices for this but for all its usually a relative. For some it’s the wife’s mother for some its the husband’s.

This experience that is supposed to be enjoyable has become a nightmare for many.

When I had my first, the birth was the most painful thing I had experience. It still is, I was in labour for over twenty hours and nothing could have prepared me for the pain, I was cut so bad. Before I gave birth I was told I would forget the experience once I see my child. People of God na lie. Its been years and I can still remember.

Barely three hours after the whole process the nurses came to get my baby to bath for him and they gave me back to get him dressed up. The moment I placed him on the bed, I panicked and was overwhelmed, I started to cry, I knew what to do yet I was clueless, he was so small and wrinkled I didn’t know where to start from. I just stared at him. A woman beside me noticed my state, she uttered words of encouragement and started to direct me. I am eternally grateful to her.

I was so exhausted. After dressing him up, my little bobo started to cry he wanted to be fed and I had put the nipples in his mouth, he struggled with latching and when he finally did, the pain was brain resetting. To think that when I was pregnant I used to think I would sleep better when the baby came. Its been years, I never sleep, back to my story, after latching came dealing with bleeding nipples and engorged breast( very painful thing).

All this took a toll on my mental health. On one hand, I was happy to be a mother, on the other hand I felt like I had been run over like a truck. I was exhausted, no hope of resting in sight, I was in pain and still had to take responsibility of this new life. All I wanted was my mom, I wanted her to hold me, hug me and tell me it would be alright so obviously I wanted her to come for omugwo.

Imagine my shock when someone told me my mother in law was the one that should come. Now I love my mother in law but this was an unchartered terrain for me, I wanted someone I was very familiar with to hold my hands through the initial stage and pamper me.

My mom came and I am glad she did. This experience made me form the opinion that, the new mother should be the person to decide who she wants to share the experience with, not the culture, not the spouse.

She is in the best position to decide.

And like I always say, I blame Eve...
