Faith Jason not Johnson. I was sad he left
ReplyDeleteIt was the Top 4 Show tonight. I was MIA last week. Life happened. I caught up on the show later in the week and it was quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteTonight, they started with a group performance. I missed that, so can't say anything on that. Praise was the guest judge today. As with last week, they performed two songs each. At the start, they showed a freestyle rap each contestant did for one of the sponsors of the show - MunchIt. Francis had the best run on this. Akunna's lines were too heavy, Kingdom sang instead of rapping and Comfort seemed to be making a cartoon soundtrack 🙄.
The Reggae Performances came first:
Francis - He was the first one called out as one of the Top 4 and opened the night with Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry. I like that he didn't try to mimic the original and gave it a homegrown twist. The rendition had more of a 'Majek Fashek' tone. His tone was amazing as usual. It was particularly satisfying to see that he was saved early on.
Akunna - My fire girl! She delivered Shaggy's It Wasn't Me like the pro she is. The fact that the original is on a male register and she handled it so well, respect! I'm so happy she made it through. Her performance was perfecto!
Comfort - I'm super upset that she made it into the Top 4. A total rubbish performance of Bob Marley's "Could You Be Loved". No words!
Kingdom - He performed 'Olise' by Majek Fashek. It was a soulful performance. He did well but I could feel he was still down with what happened with Faith. It must feel depressing to know that talent doesn't matter in the face of voters with a mediocre agenda.
Faith! Imagine such a talent leaving and Comfort staying. This guy was cheated! Kingdom hugged Faith meaningfully because they both know he deserved to stay on. At this point, the show has become a joke.
The second round of performances of Top Hits:
Francis - He sang Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing. I enjoyed seeing his sensual side come out . Praise confirmed that Francis' versatility is high up there. His texture was unique. Amazing vocal dexterity.
Akunna - She was intense! She set Fire to the Rain indeed. She sang out her heart on that stage. Praise, the guest judge was on his feet. I will keep repeating myself that she is on another level!
Comfort - She sang Aretha Franklin's Natural Woman. She tried to maintain better composure but still sounded at best like a regular karaoke performance. 🙄 Very much like a praise and worship version of the song. The judges tried to rub her head with placating comments.
Kingdom - He sang James Brown's This is a Man's World. He was more in his element. His riffs were out of this world. Amazing talent.
Tonight, my favorites were everyone except Comfort. I do hope she goes home next week.
I do hope too. WTF!
DeleteHmm anonymous with the way it is going..I won't be surprised if na Francis go leave with Comfort amongst 1st 3..
DeleteMy fellow anon, you analysed this wonderfully. For now in Nigeria money has more say than talent. Faith is wonderfully talented and should still be on the show.
DeleteHa Phoenix pls I reject this ur comment o,I'll do fasting and praying for Francis o.
DeleteI'm so sad about faith leaving,he's so good.
You did well with the review.
DeleteMimi Love
I was so sad faith left.....comfort has a strong support system and she's got the voice no one can take that away from her.
DeleteHonestly this says it all
ReplyDeleteWe support mediocrity and sentiment over talents. But can we blame the organizers, they are out on business. Cashing out on comfort. Wont be surprised to see them push her to runner up.Faith Jason, you are a star already. You are too good for the show.
Facts only!! Your 2nd sentence say it all..Whenever Seyi Shay says that she had to be tough to get these set of contestants on board!! I am like ''Gerrrara Here Mehn''..Is it by keeping Comfort...For the 1st time yesterday, Seyi Shay and follow follow DJ Sose had to tell Comfort the simple truth that have been hiding from that girl since day 1...I always love hearing Obi Asika he is the only honest judge there...
DeleteMehnnn too good for the show.......
DeleteKingdom is my favorite, I don't know what comfort is still doing there but she tried Sha to be top 4.
ReplyDeleteWith due respect to Nigeria Idol, it's organisers and fans, The Voice is superior in everything. From stage to gallery to lightings to hosts to judges to singers to audio to video to organisation to everything.
ReplyDeleteI tried watching Idol yesterday and can say comfortably that only Kingdom could hold his own in the Voice while majority in the Voice that have been eliminated or gone will gently stroll or walk into last 4 in Idol.
All the same, good luck to the remaining contestants.
Baltika I love you more for this..You just spoke my mind
DeleteBaltika, your comment is spot on. Kingdom I really good. He would also be a topn contender on Project Fame (I miss that show so much. Wish they continue, soonest). I watched their renditions of Fela's songs. He was also the best for me. That guy is not on their level rara. If he doesn't win, e go pain me o.
DeleteGbam! The Voice contestants make the Idols contestants look like they came for audition. (Apart from Kingdom sha).
DeleteTalk about talent, performance, stage presence, coaching/ mentorship, etc. Those guys are awesome!
That comfort girl should have been evicted yesterday. Who are the people voting for her!!! Na wa o.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which baba do soap for her but this Sunday will not pass her by we Don try for her , she should make way for strong voices to compete for the win
Delete#team kingdom
Kingdom or Francis for the win
ReplyDeleteComfort has strong fan base.( she suppose don go home)
Kingdom way
ReplyDeleteWasn't expecting faith to leave. Comfort is the one that should left a long time ago. Really wish kingdom wins
ReplyDeleteThe people voting for Comfort are the reason why the country is the way it is .
ReplyDeleteFaith is a superstar irrespective of what happened
Yes ooo, I mean check out who is president.
DeleteWe see this kind of thing happening in almost all the shows. Naija which way?
Oh my Faith!! It was really a sad moment... I wasn't happy to see you go. I so badly wanted to see you in the finals. Good luck with all your future endeavours. You're an amazing singer
ReplyDeleteI was so sad too but I believe he is going places
DeleteI wonder who is voting for Comfort? How cn she still be in the running when Emmanuel and Faith have left. Kingdom is the most versatile and strongest contender. If Comfort mistakenly wins this thing, NI would just loose the little relevance it has.
ReplyDeleteVersatility ✌️
DeleteAtela Francis is just extra ordinary
ReplyDeleteThey should just give the trophy to Kingdom and close the show. Francis is good too but not compared to Kingdom. Abeg that Comfort girl should go already.
ReplyDeleteI like faith..guy is good. I didn't watch yesterday but was praying for him to stay. So comfort stayed and faith left..hmmm na wa o.
ReplyDeleteComfort na juju you use ? She must have real long legs oooo
ReplyDeleteIt was not fair for faith to leave the show while comfort is still dare. Faith is more talented
ReplyDeleteAunty Comfort need to leave this Sunday
ReplyDeleteKINGDOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, What a talent you are my winner....
ReplyDeleteComfort na cele people dey vote for am
I hate is when people say comfort is not suppose to be there ,how many of you complaining voted for your fav?
ReplyDeleteKingdom is a a king in that show. So talented. His voice carries the intricacies in veery note . His rendition of Holyspirit by Majek Fashek and James Brown's Man's world was too good.
ReplyDeleteAll the judges were spell bound and amazed.
KINGDOM!
KINGDOM FOR THE MONEY.
ReplyDeleteWell if you don't still vote for Kingdom or your favorite, they will still leave and comfort will be there even as undeserving as she is.
ReplyDeleteLet's get to top 2 hopefully comfort and kingdom, with the way it is going, then let everyone join hands and eliminate her. I think she is currently second on the polls
Honestly, I don't know what Comfort is still doing in that show. I was sad that Faith was evicted.
ReplyDeleteRooting for Kingdom and Akunna for the finals.
