According to Dailypost Amaechi said most of the establishments setup to create employments in the state have folded up under the current administration.
The former governor of the state spoke during the defection of two former commissioners in the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration and other members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The event was held in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Sunday.
According to Amaechi: “Rivers State is in danger, completely. A state where properties are collected and somebody is busy building everywhere and nobody is talking.
“When I was governor, God knows, I did my best. I did not build only roads, I built schools. I did not build only roads, I built electricity. I built farms. I created employment. Rivers State was not among the highest unemployed community in Nigeria.
“The reason why crime is high in Rivers State is that unemployment is very high. That the reason why we had the Songhai Farm. Today, the Songhai Farm is gone. That is why we had the Banana Farm that they stopped in Khana (Ogoniland).
“That is why we had fish farms and that is why we were building a farm in Etche. We were doing all those things to create employment for the youths. That is why we hired 13,200 teachers and that is why we sent our children overseas to study.”
Lately, the security issue in the state has deteriorated.
Hahahaha Amaechi please stop
ReplyDeleteHonestly he should just stop abeg...This issues have been there before now, the question is what did he do when he was governor..Abeg stop jamming heads and do the right thing
DeleteThe security situation wasn't great when Amaechi was Governor either. While he was having his fight with President Jonathan, he contracted former militants to "secure" the state. These militants, in turn, faced innocent citizens and kidnappings, armed robbery and politcal assassinations became the order of the day in Rivers State.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it is true that he didn't only build roads. He built schools, hospitals, farms and unemployment was greatly reduced in the State. The best part was that he didn't employ only indigenes. Once you merited the job, you were automatically employed, regardless of state of origin.
Wike on his part has turned Rivers state to an all Ikwerre/ affair.
While it is true that he has built and is building good roads and flyovers in Port-Harcourt, which will in no small measure, reduce the traffic situation and encourage development in the city... however, his neglect for other LGAs is very appalling.
To make matters worse, to get employed in any Ministry or Parastatal in Rivers State is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. Thousands of graduates, yet no employment. This, in turn, has led to the rising security challenge in the State.
You are now in the federal,so tell us the reason why insecurity in Nigeria worsened during this Administration you are part of!
ReplyDeleteCrime has been high in River State. Monsters & thugs politicians created is one, Cults created in most 'RUMUs' as a result of grabbing scrubs from oil companies is second and restive Ikwere youths who have refused to work but wait for their fathers to die so they can inherit abandoned Igbo properties.
