Media Personality Toke Makinwa Tackles Handle That Shaded Her About Sleeping Around To Get To The Top And Misleading People

Media personality Toke Makinwa shared some motivational Tweets about people who missed making it to the top because of entitlement mentality and when she was done tweeting, she had to respond to a handle that subtly shaded her on how she made money...

In a series of Tweets she posted....

''Someday we will have a conversation about young people starting out and this entitlement issue, it breaks my heart to see so many talented people miss it.

You cannot cut corners on the way to success, it doesn’t happen overnight. Don’t let this “wokeness” deceive you, the journey to the top is Ladened with a lot of sacrifice, you’ll need to do the work and stay under construction.

You look at day 500 of someone’s success and start to compare your day 1, your attitude to your success is one of happen right now or I move to another thing and you ended up depressed, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

A lot of people ask for mentors but feel too big to stay under construction, some of them don’t even want to learn, I had zero mentors coming up, the industry was cruel. I sacrificed so much for a dream that I wasn’t even sure would pay off. No success without doing your time.

I once left my fathers 70th birthday in Spain, I was the MC, I left the reception to board a flight to Lagos that evening, landed in Lagos to board another flight to be in the same day to host MBGN, it wasn’t a paid gig, I sacrificed to build my brand. I cried a lot

And even got trolled that night cos to be honest, my hosting skills were terrible, I just wasn’t that good yet. I could have given up on it but it fueled me to push and seek out more opportunities till I got better at it. Young people, stay under construction, nothing comes easy''.

    2. No need, Toke protege wey mumu. I dey try with my work and business and really do not need a house in banana island. I don’t need to be a high class runs girl at night and motivational speaker by day. I have my own house and I’m doing pretty well.

What do you have, Miss Sophia? I’m sure you’re her follower on SM. Keep learning runs and hide your head in shame and stop writing epistle of how you made it to the top madam Toke. Keep quiet and do your runs #ndialamotors

    4. It's ok. Just watch out. You as a young lady will also be accused of sleeping your way to the top someday if you eventually become successful by your own fellow women who were supposed to be proud of one of their own. Thank God we all have vaginas individually.

    5. Please let us stop forming victim. If you truly put in hard work, no one will accuse you. Has anyone ever accused Ibukun Awosika and Jumoke Adenowo of sleeping their way to the top? No!
So don’t act like all women are accused of this.

    6. Ms Saphire we still have successful females that nobody is accusing of making through runs. Banana island blogger, SDK, Bellanaija, to mention but a few. We all have eyes and we see.

    1. No need to follow her around. Her whole life is on social media. She only hides the fucking part. Fake motivational speaker with dodgy income. The likes of you will never follow and encourage people with honest living. It’s gbanjo people like Toke they will be fighting for upandan. Our society has decayed. #yahooapologists

    1. They may be her role models but she has built herself up and can be herself not necessarily them. She has right to live or respond to whatever, she is human.

  5. I’m still trying to understand what she’s said wrong. Also, I can’t see to understand why the first line that comes to mind when attacking a lady should be olosho, or runs girl...that’s lame and getting old. Let’s not deny the fact that Toke (regardless of your perception on her personality) is a hard worker and go getter. Instead of adding unnecessary and derogatory prefix to her name, listen and learn. Na wah Ooo!

  6. Tell them!!
I have been watching how people do everything to get to the top by all means yet it is not happening while they keep wasting their time because they feel too big to start from level one. When they see someone ahead of them they think it just happened over night.

When they feel intimidated by your gradual wins, they start trolling to bring you down,Yet they can't use the same energy to build their own.
Entitlement mentality and long throat wouldn't let them focus on their lives that need urgent amendment.
Their daily routine is to monitor those working their way out while they relax with ' Over sabi' mindset ,dying in silence and pretending they have it all.

The worst set are those living in darkness with mental blindness mocking someone that is more enlightened than them and they can't use their 'over sabinus' to set themselves free.
Pride goes before a fall, las las hunger go teach them lesson then they know hard work doesn't kill or meant for some certain people while their own is to beg.
It is all one step at a time ,may God bless our hustle.

    1. Not every successful woman slept her way to success.

Every successful or success minded man knows at least one successful or succeeding woman that is not sleeping to the top.

Having a single male friends who supports a woman's work to success does not amount to sleeping to the top.

But "successful people" in Nigeria should stop giving public condescending motivational advice.

The business terrain in Nigeria is very hard and startup unfriendly especially for those who are not connected to decision making
      politicians and their influencers.

So people will react negatively to opaque and condescending motivational advice that are more common in Nigerian public space

Any motivational speaker on business who seems credible attention should be ready to show us evidence of the upward climb of taxes paid to government by his or her business.

If they are not ready to do so, let them keep quiet because there are millions of motivational books, tapes and videos on the net, and a thousand on the shelves in bookstores for people to buy.

By the way, how many members of their own family have most of these motivators lifted up with them. Why do they always focus on the public as if they seek validation of their success.

    1. Thank you for pointing that out. I was confused about it too. She said she is an orphan and she lost her parents when she was younger so which Dad's 70th bday is she referring to?

    2. Her aunty and husband adopted her and her siblings, after that incident.
They raised them in Ikoyi too. So she can call them her parents, if she may. Na who raise pikin na him be the papa, no be who born am alone.
