DeleteStella, I think better question would have been mom vs wife. Not that men are not doing it, but spending stupidly on girlfriends and neglecting your mum or doing far less for her, safe to say the person knows his end. I am a woman btw and would not even date a guy that doesn't take care of his mum. I influenced many people to start giving to their parents and sincerely to some it's not out of wickedness but ignorance especially those with rich parents, even if its 2k a month, they don't need it but you need the blessing.

ReplyDeleteThis post just reminded me what happened today morning. I bought Akara in the morning I wanted to use for breakfast. I wasn't having little money, so I gave the woman a thousand naira. She said no 'change'. I said okay before I go out I will check back. About going out I discovered I had 200 naira in my house, so I took it to her in order to collect the 1,000. Mama said no change again. I told her I have 200 now to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteHearing that, she kept mute and after a while she told me to wait a little. After few minutes I asked her what the problem is? She opened up to me and said calmly, "my son pls don't be angry with me. My son needed 2000 to complete his fee so he can write today's exam. I used your money to complete what I have and gave to him. I am hoping to sell out and complete your change."
I was touched. I told her to keep the balance, I won't be needing it. I had walked for a minute and a thought came to me, "give this woman something little to support her business." I turned back and went to her. I brought out 5,000 and gave to her. She was shocked and almost shed tears. She blessed and prayed for me. Then I left for a meeting I had this morning. I felt so happy seeing her happy.

But, a mother is like the tap root of an Iroko tree that is forever strong, reliable and trustworthy. A mother should always come first before a wife or girlfriend. A girlfriend is not even a legally recognized relationship even if she has received an engagement ring! We only have one mother but could have several wives or girlfriends in a lifetime.

Even if i give mymum the 4k,she'll still not hesitate to blacklist you when youre financially down. I'm wondering why my mum turned into another person now after all the poverty struggles we've been through together. She'll cause contention amongst her kids and still complain of not knowing what we expect her to do for peace to reign. Mymum that will collect the 4k,praise you only that moment and pretend to the other siblings that she hasn't gotten anything from you until same circle goes round all siblings and she's busted lool.
