how would you even ask that question? it definitely does, not just in my career but life style generally. Moving from a country with electricity stability and coming here is tough and of course culture and so many things. The things we need is background experience, I didn't grow up in Lagos so it was quite tough

there is still a lot you can provide for me I'm not providing for myself a lot, that's the problem they would think you got it all but you don't.

The thing about complexion, going to a place were black skin is appreciated how did you manage that coming from Canada to Nigeria, as some people would cast and say they have a particular color they are looking out for how did you manage to strategically position yourself

This topic is so controversial and I absolutely love it. Of course living in Canada the system was different. I felt it drastically because I wasn't just dark I am darker complexion I had a lot of stigma I was castigated as a young girl. I tried to bleach at one time I tried using a lighter cream. At a stage when I got to Nigeria and saw People who had same complexion with me then I started to appreciate myself I'm even looking for a way to get more darker"

DeleteMy very dark cousin had so many breakthroughs from being dark, people will just see her and want to favour her, men and women will see her and stop by to thank her for keeping her dark skin, she went for a job interview and was later asked to see the boss, the man screamed wow! It's been a while I saw a lady this dark skinned, I want you here, I love your skin, the guy made her his PA and that was how she started to make international trips etc.

ReplyDeleteI've always loved & admired dark skinned ladies and wished to have one. When I gave birth to my first child, he was so light skinned & attracted alot of attention each time we went out, people always commented on his skin colour, then I gave birth to my second baby last year and she came out so beautiful & dark skinned, I was so amazed & happy to have a beautiful dark skinned baby girl. Guys guess what.... 😏 Each time we go out or have guest who are meeting her for the first time, they keep making some offensive remarks(implying that they were disappointed she came out dark skinned and not so light skinned like her brother) It's just so not funny 😡

No offense. If you like, bleach till your skin looks like your the inside of your mouth, you are a black person. Here, there is the “one drop” rule. One drop of black blood makes you a black person and you have to check a box on some forms aware of that. It’s the reason Obama, Kamala etc self identify and are called black. Indians, Chinese etc are called “Brown” though some are darker than us black people. It’s nobody’s business that you are taking glutathione but also nobody’s business when it results in liver and kidney problems. One thing I love about African Americans. They rarely bleach. the corticosteroids, hydroquinone & glutathione are by prescription only. In fact their reply to the “N” slur is “pig” because they claim oyinbos look like it.
ReplyDeleteStop using corticosteroids creams stored in the hot sun plus glutathione tablets (meant to treat serious diseases) to look different. You may regret it in 10 years or less. There is only one liver even though they do liver transplants. Figure where the transplanted liver comes from and the cost without insurance and government assistance is hundreds of thousands$. “There is a way that seems right”. “ Do not follow a multitude to do the wrong thing”. These are in the Bible you can Google it. The stench of the layers beneath your skin (like a wound or bruise) will make you repulsive to the men or friends you want to impress. Look at most of them, the kids are as dark as Lupitha but parents have bleached to look like Taylor Swift! It’s the kids that expose them. The kids show the parents real tones for the most part.
You don’t have to listen. Don’t abuse me or it backfires.

DeleteSo what's with this erroneous notion that ppl who lighten their skin want to be Caucasian? Are there no naturally light skinned African ppl again? Some ppl just prefer that light coloured skin tone of fair complexioned Africans. Nothing to do with wanting to be Caucasian. It's pretty obvious that it takes more than skin tone to pass off as a person of another race. Some like it red, some like it blue. Nobody needs to apologize for their choice of colour. I, for one, prefer fair skin on women and dark skin on men. It's just what I like, period! A lot of ppl trying to demonize lovers of fair skin and shouting 'dark, dark' all over the place, including here on this blog, are chronic bleachers and wouldn't accept dark complexion in all earnestness, if that were the deal. All skin tones, nevertheless, are beautiful when appearing in their clean, smooth and fresh glory. So guys, just give it a break.
