    6. And Chacha as a name in Igbo language means "nothing"!!! Hm!!!

    7. @14:03, well... Pronunciation in Igbo determines a word's meaning. I don't have the right keyboard if not I'll put the ntupo and phonetics to show how the chacha that means nothing in Igbo is pronounced. I see nothing wrong with cha-cha, it's a nickname, maybe an endearing name of love her parents or family called her from birth. And y'all have a problem with that too?

  2. Long overdue. Why should a woman bear her maiden name years after marriage?

    1. And what is wrong with it??
Does it remove the fact that she's married??

Well my maiden name is what I am still USING official.
I started adding his surname recently.
      My husband isn't bothered!

    3. What is wrong with that?

Allow us deal with more important issues than name change pls. I’ve been married for 6 years with 2 children. My husband has never for one day complained about it. I have never bothered about changing it not for any particular reason but because I don’t want the stress of doing it.

Unofficially, I’m Mrs. His surname but all my documents and bank accounts still bear my maiden name. Any new document I’m getting eg when I conclude my masters next year, it’ll still bear my maiden name. When we apply for visas, I use my passport like that obviously and include my marriage certificate. My children bear their father’s surname.
Like I said, my husband has never bothered about it.
      Deal with it!

Unnecessary pressure and wahala and rubbish meanings everywhere!

    4. I bore mine for 6 years.
My husband was not bothered at all.

All my certificates, passports, visas had my maiden name and I didn't have energy for immigration wahala.

    5. I kept mine for 9 years and only changed it recently because I wanted to . My husband NEVER asked me about it and when I was changing it , he suggested I hyphenate my last name with my maiden name and his because everyone knows me by my maiden name. There are many cultures in this world where women don’t change their last name. Africans weren’t changing names until oyinbo man come.

    6. Believe social media people at your peril! I will not be surprised if these people saying I don't bear my husband's last name after hundred years of Marriage, are all bearing even their husband's first name and last name together. My dear people of the world, please motivate yourselves and ignore these invincible social media councilors.

    7. Anon 15:59. speak for yourself.

You do not live with them.

Not everyone is as myopic and small- minded as you.

You should also be ignored completely for trying to put unnecessary pressure on people.

      Live and let live.

    8. Anon 17:08, speak for yourself too, you are the one putting pressure on them by telling them not bear their husband's name. Leave Chacha to answer her husband's name in peace!

  4. Good for her. I still use my maiden name for official purposes. Most people don't know their history, the whites brought about this bearing your husband's name after marriage, traditionally in the igbo culture a woman still retains her father's name even after marriage.

    4. There was no need for surnames before colonialism. You were simply identified as the daughter of abc or the wife of xyz. There were no official documents , no education. While you are railing against the white man why not vomit the western education you got and go back to living in pre colonial era when women had no identity, no rights and were treated like properties and slaves. Some of you accepts what you think favours you and forget the bigger picture. If your husband is comfortable with your using your father's name good for him but don't come here vomiting nonsense about the whites who also brought education and the God you worship to this part of the world

    5. I've heard this before. Children were identified by their mother's name as well, not their father. In igbo sibling means nwanne, child of my mother. That was to account for polygamy. Most of our tradition was passed in oral form, but I wish they were written.

    6. Anon 13:34, don't mind them, they are confusionists. Always causing trouble for people in their families. I bet you they are all bearing their husband's names. Social media is the modern day evil, if you are not guided.

    2. Anon12:38. Thank God you're not her God. Whatever it is, your prayers should be that God should handle it for her. If she has decided to stay in her marriage is because she has good reasons. Let us wish her well.

    3. Paprika are you minding them? These are the ones who go on their knees praying for people's marriages to scatter so that they will feel good. Chacha enjoy your marriage, if e pain them, let them go and marry their own perfect man.

  6. 10years in Marriage yet to bear my husband's name, whether hubby is bothered or not I do not know, when I finally change it, it will be a double barrelled name, my maiden name plus his. ...actually in some cultures the husband takes up the wives name...

  7. I'm not married but have 2 kids and bear my baby daddy's name. He put it when I got to Europe. I leave it that way so I can bear same name with my kids.
