From the north to the south, everywhere is not-one-would-like-to-talk-about and the leaders are looking on as if nothing is happening. I have chosen to remember the sex roles that shaped Nollywood instead.
Tonto Dike and Muna Obiekwe in Dirty Secrets:
This role simply elevated Tonto to Nollywood’s Sharon Stone having stirred a lot of controversies. Dirty Secrets, had her doing raunchy scenes with the late Muna, and appeared to be an elevation of the movie Men in Love. While some people condemned her for taking it too far, others believe that role portrayed Tonto as a real actress who should take up any role. Of course, that role shaped her career and also peaked her earnings as a Nollywood act.
Eucharia Anunobi and Zack Orji in Glamour Girls 2
Before the likes of Tonto came to the scene, Nollywood would never forget what the Eucharias were able to do when it comes to sex roles. Her bathroom scene with Zack Orji in Glamour Girls 2, will continue to be a reference point, after it shaped the career of Eucharia, and spawned so much profits for NEK Videos, the producers of the movie. UK as she was fondly called is now an Evangelist and you can bet she would not want her church members to watch that flick.
Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde and Segun Arinze in ‘The Prostitute’
Omotola must also be commended in this regard for bringing attention to Nollywood through her efforts in the movie, The Prostitute. The phenomenal movie, produced by Kingsley Ogoro, fetched Omotola four hundred thousand naira at a time when the artiste fees were still hovering at less than two hundred thousand naira for A list actors. In the movie, Omotola went naked, baring sensitive parts of her body and also took publicity snapshots, which adorned covers of some soft sell magazines, clad in only white towel. But all showed the magic of movie-making as there are insinuations that it was only Omotola’s face and not her body.
Halima Abubakar in ‘Wild and Dirty’
Kogi State born Halima, deserves a mention in an article like this for her role in Wild and Dirty, produced by Chidi Aruoma. The flick which came at a time going nude in movies was the in-thing also saw Halima, doing crazy snapshots for the promo of the flick. It was that role that drew attention of the National Film and Videos Censors Board to the issue of nudity in movies, and producers were forced to expunge such scenes. The role also fetched Halima some money and helped shape her career today.
Mercy Johnson in ‘One Love’
Mercy Johnson has also tried in the industry having played sundry roles. But her role in One Love, directed by Michael Jaja, is worth being mentioned in this regard. The fight scene, which led to Mercy’s clothes being torn obviously showed that Mercy has got potentials in this regard. In spite of the substantial editing that went into the project, traits of Mercy’s daring stance were significant.
Shan George in OutKast
Shan George actually came into Nollywood from a fashion background and tried her hands on producing shortly after. But it was not a huge success which was why she went to the drawing board and re-launched her acting career with late Chico Ejiro’s OutKast, a flick where she exposed her ‘essential parts’. The role was so significant for the actress and the producers and reportedly fetched Shan, over three hundred and fifty thousand naira, a choice fee at that time. Outkast, it would later turn out, returned Shan to the consciousness of the movie industry.
Muna Obiekwe in ‘Men in Love’
This was a bold role portraying gay activities by the late actor. This happened at a time, when most actors would not touch such themes. In Men in Love, where he played the role of a homosexual, Muna unfolded his skills alongside Ghanaian John Dumelo.
Ramsey Noah in ‘Dangerous Twins’
He has also had a fair share of sex roles in the industry and deserves to be so classified. Ramsey showed his skills when he played the double role of twins in Dangerous Twins, a film shot in Nigeria and London. Ramsey’s bedroom scenes in the flick attracted so much attention to him and he reportedly pocketed huge fees for the role.
Cossy Orjiakor and Sunny McDon in ‘Shattered Home’
If there is anyone who redefined the movie landscape with sex roles, Cossy Orjiakor did, and with pride too. The fact that she comes from a respectable home also gave it a big boost as fans swarmed around her wondering what the matter was. Cossy’s first role in this direction came in Sunny Mc Don’s Shattered Homes, where she exposed her big breasts, igniting a war of boobs in the industry. After that, Cossy remained undaunted. She has gone ahead to prove that she flaunts it because she has it.
In musical videos and other less successful flicks, Cossy has carried on with her ‘boobs crusade’, even as her ardent fans wonder what she would flaunt when age flattens the boobs.
How do I not know any of these movies? Kai

DeleteTaa, don't pretend to be sixteen.
You not only know them but have watched them.
Anon 13:58, It is possible she doesn't know them na, do you know her personally to know her age and even if she was grown that time, not everyone watches home videos. I know almost all of them but I don't think "The Prostitute" was really Omotola's body oh, the stunt they used didn't even look like her at all.
DeleteAnon, no I don't know them . And you don't even know my age. Calm down for Jesus
DeleteIn the Prostitute, they used what is called "double body". Someone with same physique and complexion. It wasn't Omotola.
DeleteThe one that made waves then was Dangerous Player featuring Jim Iyke and the Ghana based actress Biola Ige. That film? Hmmm.
Wonder where Biola is now?
Chic was a good script interpreter.
Oops.
DeleteIt's The Grand Player not dangerous player.
