DeleteEdi is the Hyena. The Igbo have no history of Tiger, so i doubt there is/was a name for Tiger. I have never held Tiger anywhere in Igbo, people just use Agu because it fits. I can categorically beat my chest that There are no Tigers in Igbo land, there never have been. Unless there is an updated Igbo that calls the Tiger Agu, and that is why i indicated Wild cats as Agu.

DeleteTiger may not be in Igbo land but Igbos know it exists. Odum is lion, agu is tiger. There's a saying that odum n'egbu agu. I can agree that they may refer to the big cat family as agu.
