Does anyone know any good movie or series I can watch on Netflix or Amazon prime???? Tired of watching terrible series. From Chesapeake shores to Zero Chill which I absolutely hate.

  6. So guys do you remember that my boss's boss who came visiting when I had my baby?

Well he's transferred back to where his family is based. Surprisingly he left a lovely gift for my baby with my immediate boss. I was so shocked and excited that he thought of my family and I mainly because I hadn't reached out to him after the visit.

Funny enough I've had interactions with about 6 top management staff both male and female who have shown quite an interest in my growth but sadly I don't know how to build and explore those relationships.

The thing tire even me oooo, I just don't know how to kiss any ass or to do over familiarity. May God help me oooi

Happy Easter my people, I've missed you guys

    1. Happy Easter Duchess, awww!!! the gift was a thoughtful thing by your boss. God bless him.
As for sucking up to senior members of staff, I don't even know how to do it at all.
I'm of the belief that my hard/smart work should speak for me.
Beyond that, I jejely mind my business. You'll not know the benefit until kasala bursts one day and no one can accuse you of this or that...

    3. Read up articles online on mentorships. I suggest Ken Coleman for instance. It helps to state clearly what you want or your dreams and just be you. It also helps when you offer to to something you'll enjoy but they'll find a chore. A thank you card would be nice for all those who reached out to the baby and a text message thanking you them for their call/visit/ lunch or anything that showed an interest in your career or anything they would have liked to share with you and then forgot. I always send articles of things I think they are interested in or things I find interesting in our shared fields. It's not really about using someone to advance your career. It's about building friendships and relationships. Not everyone is going to be best buds and not everyone is going to be directly helpful- you may even be the one to help and isn't that fun? ๐Ÿ˜Š However, that respect grows when there is integrity. Btw big congratulations on the little one. May her path be filled with grace and your mouth with gratitude ๐Ÿ™.

    4. Hi Duchess, its not called kissing ass here in developed world. Its called networking. You are however at the risk of being called a whore in Nigeria for networking with your male bosses. It is encouraged and very necessary here if you want to get a job or get promoted becsuse in these big orgs you need a sponsor, and sponsors will not just recommend you if they dont know you.

To the question of milking your new contacts and networking with them. I'll suggest you start from LinkedIn, then you pop into their offices once in a while to talk about a business topic that you just read something about lately and you know its of interest to them.

Be however careful of harrasement. If you notice any sexual innuendos, give them space abeg. I hope that helps.

    9. Duchess and Twin Squared give back thoughtful affordable gifts to your bosses.
Find out what they like - nuts, cakes, fruits hamper, wine or liquor, books, hobbies or they have a soft spot for their own families.

Peridically send them goodwill messages or call to say hello (exchange pleasantries)

Occasional gifts on birthdays, anniversaries and festive periods.
If you can afford it, good gifts that won't get used up e.g. textile fabrics (Oyeog), painted portrait of the person, gold bracelet or a pair of gold earrings, designer brand sunglasses etc.

    5. Hmmm..There might be other reasons why they prefer Nigeria to the US.I love Naija but I prefer here because of the resources we have available. I work in the ER and it's illegal to refuse someone treatment because they don't have insurance. Also, you qualify for low income housing, medicaid, medicare etc when you earn less. Thing is that a lot of our people fail to plan for retirement or even save when they get here. They borrow lots of money, buy expensive homes and cars on credit. Most of them do not even enjoy the house because they have 2-3 jobs. How about you live within your means? Get one credit card just for building your credit score, buy used cars, save for retirement, resist the urge to compete with others etc.

    6. Anon 22:22 not everyone works 2-3 jobs ahhh that’s a lie!!! I have one job that pays darn well and I work from home. Folks who are not ready to improve themselves are stuck with 2-3 jobs. Nigerians/Africans are making it here once you know what you want in life. Even folks without professional jobs don’t necessarily need to work 2-3 jobs unless you have crazy bills that you use your own hands to acquire. And no not everyone wants to be in America. Some folks prefer to be back home if they have a good source of living/ financial independence. Or some want to be close to families and need more support. So yea, To each his own.

He is talking marriage already and he asked me to tell my pastor about him. Please i need advice from married people, how do you cope with someone who doesnt have the physical features of what you want in a man but has the character you want? Does love grow after marriage. When you get used to each other and piss off each other, will you find him attractive? Also some not so cute things about him will come up. Get to know him first before settling down. The more you see his good side, you might fall in love with him. Mature women are turned on by character of a man, a provider, a protector, supportive and lastly fear of God. Take your time and Date him first, define the relationship, talk about finances, # of children una want, how una go handle bills in the home, etc. don’t rush. Good luck.
