Nearly three weeks later, police have not found a motive and have made no arrests, leaving Sule’s family and friends searching for answers.
.
‘I can’t think of anything that would make anyone want to kill her,’ Sule’s close friend Habibat Magaji, told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
.
Magaji was among the last people to have seen Sule alive before she was gunned down.
.
The two women had spent the night before at Magaji’s home, eating snacks and watching Netflix together.
.
Less than 24 hours later, Sule was sitting in her gray Toyota Corolla, exchanging text messages with Magaji, when an unidentified man walked up to the vehicle with a gun drawn and shot her several times.
.
Sule’s father, Adewale Sule, heard the gunfire and emerged from the house just in time to see the suspect fire the last of the shots at his daughter.
.
"I saw the guy shooting my daughter. He shot the last round and I pursued him,’ said the father. " He ran back to his car. "
.
Najeet was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
.
Her mother, Tawakalitu Sule, said she last heard from Najeet less than two hours before the shooting when her daughter asked her when she was going to be home.
.
"All of my children have been crying every day because of their big sister. They really miss her. I miss my daughter,’ she said.
.
Najeet is survived by her parents and two sisters.
.
The family are currently staying at an undisclosed location over unspecified concerns for their safety.
.
Sule and her family immigrated to Philadelphia from Nigeria in the early 2000s.

ReplyDeleteWhat I tell Nigerians, stay in good gated community they wouldn’t agree.
ReplyDeleteAlso send your children to schools in the good zip code areas if you can’t afford private schools.
Bad friends and acquaintances leads to an early grave.
Americans will keep suffering from gun violence because of the rights of 25th amendment.
If you must stay in the hood and low income areas, invest in guns period!
My deep condolences goes to the family.
it's the 2nd amendment not 25th. 25th is for removing an incapacitated president.

ReplyDeleteHeal the world Lord! Of wickedness, strife, pain and hatred.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace beautiful.
May her soul rest in peace. I hope the police are not seeing this crime as a black statistic. There must be CCTV cameras that picked up the guy's face or his number plate.
ReplyDeleteThe acquaintances of the siblings and parents must also be investigated in addition to people around with her kind of figure or who drive her kind of car. Sometimes, these devils go after the wrong person. May God comfort the family. What they ran away from Nigeria for....
May her soul rest in peace.

ReplyDeleteMay her soul rest in peace .Amen
The person that advised about gated community is right. Not all is safe but when you are renting or buying, you do your research about crime in that area. I know a friend who lives in one of the wealthy communities. Has two girls. She is paying a lot for security in the post code she chose. Sometimes she dey forget to lock door and nothing dey happen. So I get what she means. The difference between how your kids turn out and your safety, is in the school you send them and the area you live. Not everyone can afford that though.
ReplyDeleteNow for those who have only lived on one state since they arrived the US or were born, don’t know too much. If you are a traveling medic or other profession that takes you places you will realize America has different neighborhoods based on safety, status, class etc. your children make friends who may end up being Donald Trump or Bill Clinton depending on the exposure you give them in life.
Now this lady’s death might be unrelated. But it is highly unlikely that a random person will drive into a neighborhood and start shooting randomly. But then again, a crazy man drive into Capitol Hill, stabbed a police and for himself killed. We can only try but crazy people are everywhere!!!
I don’t like when people are called out for not living abroad! Wetin sef! You that is living abroad, so what? Does your geography and history lesson demand you are in those places you are learning about in class. SMH!
