The U.S. view is contained in its newly-released ‘2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Nigeria.’ as seen on People's Gazette.
The report said, “On October 20, members of the security forces enforced curfew by firing shots into the air to disperse protesters, who had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos to protest abusive practices by the Nigerian Police Force’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
“Accurate information on fatalities resulting from the shooting was not available at year’s end. Amnesty International reported 10 persons died during the event, but the government disputed Amnesty’s report, and no other organisation was able to verify the claim.
“The government reported two deaths connected to the event. One body from the toll gate showed signs of blunt force trauma. A second body from another location in Lagos State had bullet wounds. The government acknowledged that soldiers armed with live ammunition were present at the Lekki Toll Gate.
“At year’s end the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution continued to hear testimony and investigate the shooting at Lekki Toll Gate.”
Washington’s position, under President Joe Biden’s administration, did not reflect the view of then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

ReplyDeleteLook Nigerians until you release your minds from mental slavery and this white- messiahic thoughts of you. Africa ll never be united. US, UK dont give two flying saucers about you and they are always behind the unrest in some parts of Africa. Read your history and know that the whites have always stolen from us and love changing the narratives. But trust african man, he ll make the white man his God and believe everything white is good and black is evil. Nigeria we can fight to get our country back and seek justice from all the evil atrocities. If we dont allow long throat and always seeking money from politicians elude you.
ReplyDeleteTo hell with US, we know the truth of what happened and they should keep their useless findings to themselves.
We all know the truth, but the USA government want to use our head. Their body language says it all

DeleteI guess they didnt have all the evidence they need at their disposal which means they couldn't confirm the accuracy of the allegation but CNN did a reporting on this which clearly showed the military shooting at unarmed and innocent protesters. It would be proper to review again than just conclude that no one was killed.
ReplyDeleteCNN was not even at the seen of the incident they only put social media videos together.
DeleteAPC syndrome!
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that whoever or whomever is responsible for the deaths that occured as a result of the end sars protest ,his or her generations unborn will never ever know peace in their life's because they can't be playing politics of selfish interest with the life's if innocent people
ReplyDeleteAnd that was how they couldn't tell MBS to his face, that he ordered the killing of Jamal Khashoggi at MBS's embassy in Turkey.
ReplyDeleteThank God for BIDEN, at least he did something.
Now Nigerian Soldiers will go on rampage, this very, very sad.
Canadian govt. will never say a thing like this, l trust them.
