After almost three years of family squabbles, oil mogul and billionaire, High Chief ( Dr) Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs has finally been laid to rest in his hometown, Abonnema, Rivers State.
The funeral ceremonies which began in Port Harcourt with a Service of Songs was rounded off with a commendation service that was attended by many dignitaries including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former Governor, Donald Duke and wife, Onari, former Governor Celestine Omehia, Ministers: Chief Timpre Sylva and Uche Ogah, Amanayabo of Opobo, Mr Timi Alaibe, Mrs Margaret Alamesiegha, Mohammed Atiku, Chief Abiye Sekibo, Tonye Cole, Herbert Wigwe and Editor, Ovation International, Michael Effiong.
The commendation service began in earnest when the remains of the respected Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs War Canoe House arrived the arena in a special carriage escorted by ceremonial horses.
It was indeed a spectacle to behold before John Cardinal Onaiyekan delivered the opening prayer.
The service witnessed many hymns, solo performances and prayer sessions and it cruised to its end with the recessional hymn "Sleep on Beloved, Sleep and take thy rest".
With His Eninence Most Rev. Nimi Beson John Fynface officiating at the internment, the great philanthropist and international businessman was laid to rest amidst tears.
