Grammy Award Winner Burna Boy's Mum Bose Ogulu Says It More Important To Be Respected Than To Be Liked..

Bose Ogulu is beautiful and Intelligent and hey her son Burna boy recently won the Grammys! ..

If you are a lady and need advice on how to carry yourself, please read what Mrs Ogulu advises...

Interviewer: What do you think is one of the trickiest thing about being a Nigerian woman, trickiest or hardest, and how do you navigate it as a young woman as myself and the generations after, what are somethings you think we could learn that would serve us as we move forward in our lives.

Mrs Ogulu says:
''Carry yourself the way you want to be treated in life , if you make yourself an object, you will be treated like one, let people know that there is a brain in-between your ears and when they do, they may be uncomfortable around you but they will respect you.

I made up my mind a long time ago that it is more important to be respected than be liked. This is what I have worked with, just be competent at what you decide to do or learn competence in something before you decide to do it. Shut up when you don't know what people are talking about, have the loudest voice when you do know''

  5. Well articulated ma. The best part for me is" It is better to be respected than to be liked" and "the loudest when you do know" The loudest when you do know may make you appear arrogant but I have chosen to be called names than to allow them wallow in their ignorance. I love people so much that I don't mind their name calling. This also relates to what she said, preferring, esteeming to be respected than to be liked.

  6. I like her and I kind of can see her influence on Burna's above average sense of self worth and, Street confidence hastily described as Arrogance. This and Chimamanda's write up on likeability gives you a picture of high sense of feminine self worth.

  8. Wise word.
    Who 'like' epp??
Be yourself, don't fake it to be like.
Anybody that doesn't like you for who you are should stay away.

" Shut up ,when you don't know what people are talking about ", I love that.

  9. Ds is d only thing that I like about Burnaboy’s brand. Her mom’s brilliance, confidence, well spoken & versatility in speech. U get to wonder if truly Burna is her biological son. Yes, I love them intelligent , both male & female.
