I am not an economic expert, but I don't think it's wise for the control of the Nation's economy to be in the hands of one man. He is not Merlin
ReplyDeleteThe one that has been in the hands of the government, what came out of it?
DeleteAnon it has been in the hands of Buhari for 6yrs now and has been a disaster.
DeleteLol at your comment @Anonymous 9:22.
DeleteFirst, increase in crude oil prices in the global markets should translate to a reduced price that cuts across all petroleum products, but the reverse is the case in Nigeria.
The reason is due in part to the processing cost abroad - transacted in dollars, the landing cost in Nigeria also being transacted in dollars, and the ever increasing demands for forex by importers. But now that the country will start refining oil locally through Dangote, it stands to reason that the local currency will be relieved of pressure; so the anticipated boost in the value of Naira is realistic.
Second, as to your concern that Dangote receives seeming undue patronage from government agencies, even the Central Bsnk governor, I am in full support.
The country is governed by clowns.
Marry from a different country and have your children outside naija cos e no sure again. Our cbn dunce gov is a yes man
ReplyDeleteHow can place the whole economy in the hands of one man? Is this not a looming danger..I keep saying this, It is high time we stopped using Chairmen/former CEOs as CBN governors but an all rounded sound Economist as the CBN governor..This is toxic capitalism at its peak
ReplyDeleteIs Dangote Refinery not listed?
DeleteShould we continue to carry crude-oil abroad to refine ? It would actually save the economy a whole lot.
If not for Dangote cement too, do u know we cant get cement for 3500 or there-about ? he has made the price of cement stable, if not we wld probably also be using dollar to import cement.
Why must Nigerians complain abt everything..... Govt obviously cant manage a Refinery, they will just embezzle the money and mismanage d refinery, now someone is doing it we still complain.
He's the only one with such resources since Govt is useless.
Bed and Roses I have every right to complain!! So because he is listed and so what? Dangote has been benefitting from the government since time immemorial so that should continue too...And who made him the only one to have such resources..Why must it be the hands of one man? Answer my question..
DeleteWhy are we like this? Why do we always tackle voice of reasoning? Why do we have people in government, the senators, the house of representatives, the governors, the people in various government parastals who are elite and educated? We are like fold our hands with no challenge at all, the twenty juiciest appointment in NNPC goes to hausa, they spent billions on TAM on refinery it did not produce a single drop of petrol senate did not question because they are rich, they took our crude oil to Niger to refine and sell back to us, the locals in Ibeju Lekki were evacuated using Lagos state governments some of them never got their lives back, the land was given to Dangote to build refinery, does it not make sense that those people they put in NNPC was there to make sure it does not work so Dangote can start producing its petrol. And when someone make reasonable suggestion he is attack. I think we that can read and understand in Nigeria need to sit up and think, all our wealth is going up to just one person and we just sit like what can we do? Excuse me, am still very afraid of our future. Herdsmen were killing farmers everywhere in the south we did not boycott their meat, now they have turn around and boycott our region with their foods stuff and we are like what can we do? But we claim we are educated than them? Excuse me? We better sit up now and use our God given brain before it is too late. Successive government has been patronising to Dangote and destroy all the industry we have just for him to survive, and he is not corporate responsible to accidents his haulage cause along highways, he only donate huge amounts of money to the education in the North and we are saying what can we do? May it never be too late for us.
DeleteOkay Phoenix, no problem. If you can build a refinery kindly go ahead. The more refineries in Nigeria, the better for all of us.
DeleteJust invite us BV's to the launch, we must be part of ur success story.
@anon but im sure if a yoruba or Igbo man brought this to the fore-front and he has the backing, he will also be approved. Dangote is not the only industrialist benefitting from Govt in Nigeria, many other tribes are. So bcos he's Hausa its a problem. If it was an Ibo man dat set up dis refinery, im sure u will be celebrating him.
Other people with the resources should go and build refineries. Thieving politicians take their money out. Our igbo brothers prefer buy and sell. Lafarge and Bua are selling cement. Let other people build refineries so that only Dangote will not enjoy
DeleteCome up with a solution or structure @phoenix
