    2. Have had encounter with armed robbers when growing up 7 times still I don't wish them death, at least life imprisonment would do, who knows they might repent in the process

  2. Imagine after wasting 6 years standing trail. Is this judgement not too harsh? they would have given them years imprisonment...

And some of our evil politicians are walking freely.

  3. This is too harsh now, haba. You can make it 10 years. Being incarcerated even for 5 years is enough to teach them to do better.

Although most of them go in there and come out worse. This life sha....

    1. I understand that the sentence seems long but think about this: they found a way to source guns just to steal phones. We are very lucky they are not yet politicians because they are even far worse than those in positions of power now. Being poor does not mean one is pure. This same guys would see the thieving politicians and rather than Rob them, they would go for their fellow masses who are struggling.

    2. What I disagree with is the water of life when none was taken and the complete absence of a chance at rehabilitation.

  4. This judgement is too harsh for their offence. I pray human right lawyers and activist come to their rescue

  5. What is the worth of the phone? Is a phone worth thr life of a human? Are these judges sleeping? Haba. As much as it is wrong stealing a phone, no one should loose their life as a penalty for it. It's too harsh. It's like killing a fly with a sledge hammer.

    1. Its not about the worth of phone. I am sure people who have been robbed at gunpoint before will never ask this question.
Think about it, these people armed themselves with gun just to steal a phone from an innocent person. If their victims were to be holding thousands of dollars in their hands, they will snatch it, might even kill them.
Lets understand the law please. As long as you are armed, you pose a great danger to people. And who says they didnt even kill? Or is the gun a toy gun? These criminals have snatched people’s lives for ridiculous amounts.
May we never be their victims in Jesus name.
Death by hanging might sound extreme, i think life imprisonment is not bad for them.
      Armed robbery carries death penalty!

  6. Haba!! Did anyone die during the robbery? Why hand them a death sentence for God's sake.

  7. No no no no no way. What kind of wicked ridiculous judgement is this??? After punishing them for 6 years, you still want to kill them? They didnt commit murder naww...haba this is not fair. This is inhumane. I pray they appeal this and get help. Using hammer to kill an ant.

  9. It's obvious many do you didn't read. Did you not notice they are armed robbers? Do you really think the crime they were arrested for was the first time? So you know if they have raped or killed innocent people in the past? They were armed robbers o. If you've ever had an encounter with them, you won't be talking like this

  12. There’s something we call sentencing guidelines everywhere in the world. These crimes do not warrant any death sentence under no circumstances.

  15. A friend once told me that anywhere he's passing and see where they are beating thieves, he would park and go and offer them fuel/kerosene so that they can do whatever they seem fit to do with it.

I thought he thought he was too harsh until he told me how some people ribbed him at gunpoint some few years back... They took him with his car, tied his hands and feet, covered his eyes, beat him black and blue and dumped him in the bush... He was just so lucky that the one they tied on his hands wasn't so tight so he struggled till he loosened it and freed himself

He was only in his boxers and he managed to come out to the road around 1am.. twas only God that saved him.

Point is don't judge if you haven't been dealt with before

  16. The theifing brothers were ARMED, and I believe they wouldn't have hesitated to use the gun on their victims had they refused to hand over their valuables to them.

I have zero pity for thieves.
Do the crime and jejely do the time.

    Okay, bye.

  17. If u have read the Nigerian constitution you would know that armed robbery is a capital offence which means it is punishable by death. It seems too harsh but unfortunately the law is the law. I wish Nigeria can be like China where corruption by a public officer is punishable by death

  18. While somebody that burnt a woman alive was giving 12 years in Kogi state. We need to start this country afresh

  19. Hi Judge, know that God is watching you and will judge you harshly next time you collect money from a politician. You could have shown mercy but decided not to. To know that looters that "ate"money meant for road construction are responsible for the fatal accidents, those hiding palliatives and stealing Nigeria's money are the cause of starvation, unemployment, extreme poverty and death is to see this judgement as unjust, unless they killed someone.

Looting is not a victimless crime. Many pensioners die of sadness and starvation but who will get them justice? The poor are judged differently but judgement will ultimately be up to God & is for eternity. To those hailing it, if they did not kill, why kill them? What if they did not even do what they are charged for? The reason many are against death penalty here is the flaws & biases inherent in human nature. Many were convicted for crimes they didn't commit but later freed. What if they had been given capital punishment that has no reversal? Nigeria where they just round area boys and present them as perpetrators to satisfy any "powerful" cry for justice, is one country that should be careful with capital punishment.
