    1. I'm writing this again seeing her here. And I thought I love this actress and she spews this Tosh. I was in Nigeria for a short holiday in December and was flipping through the dstv channels and saw a movie Abike on of the channels, out of boredom I decided to watch because I read through the synopsis, it turned out to be the best Nigerian move I have ever seen and this actress was in it,, the end scenes where she was talking to her son to go find his path in life tore me apart, it reminded me of my mum who was widowed at a young age. I had never heard of her before or seen her movies, this lady actress was exceptional, I thought I was dreaming seeing a Nollywood movie so enthralling not the usual crass. I had to cram her name and face, what was a boredom killer woke me up and I sat at the edge of my couch till the end, had Nollywood been organised, it was good enough with little touch ups to slot in for the African or whatever section for Oscars, her delivery was a masterclass mindblpwing, even Lupita and other top women of colour stars would have grinned in shock and envy. I want her to know if she reads this that she should seek for a way to get out there and break in internationally because she is a super actress and she will explode out there with what I watched and if I hear of chances for her to show her self internationally, I will look for a way to reach her, let her Raise some money and go to Yale acting school and while there audition and audition, she will break in. But this talk from her now is disappointing to me because my first impression of her is of a great woman and actress.

    3. Anonymous 12.13,what is wrong with what she said, assuming it's lupita nyong'o it would have made more sense abi?🙄. I have watched wendy Williams, kim Kardashian, miley cyrus etc talked about menstruation. Nonetheless she's a good actress

    8. We need to normalize talking about women's health and issues like these being talked about by people with fame (celebrities) and/or money (ricj people) normalizes it makes the common woman, teenager or young adult know it is normal.

I was told my dysmenorrhea will stop after childbirth. It never did. Mirena IUD saved life, literally and made it easy to function when I have my period. But our generation still pass down the myth that period pain will stop after child birth.
Please go see your Gynae, youdont have to suffer period pains/dysmenorrhea

    2. Who told you she doesn’t know menopause has its challenges? We all know that when menopause comes your period ceases so she hasn’t said anything abnormal ...am sure she said it as per then she will no more have monthly flows. I don’t know why people can never make any comment in peace. Us your common sense to reason that, she does not have to explain all that.

    1. Lol. Are you guys serious right now? So it's safe to say that a woman has no hiding place from pain and unnecessary stress in her life? God why? 😩. At times i'd be wishing for the period thing to be a once in a lifetime something in a woman's life. Like, you'd see it at a certain age and that's it.

    2. They don't want to experience terrible experience of menopause. Pray that your body adjust to the changes. I have someone close to me now and I don't pray for it.

    3. Hmmm... Really?

And I thought everything would be over once it's menopause.

Can you please come whisper to me about it's experience a little?

  12. Sorry, Yvonne. Some of my friends still gripe about this same thing even after they have had all their babies while some surely affirmed it. I guess experiences differ. Menopause isn't a stroll in the park either for women around that age and it surely has its own drawbacks as well. So darling, don't be in a hurry to get there. I also know many menopausal women who were sad when their periods ceased. For your cramps just Get a heating pad and being intentional about your diets a few days to your period helps and ought to minimize the pain.

    1. A week before your period start, try drinking hot liquid stuff but with less sugar and warm water too. Come back and thank me later.
I used to have horrible cramps while growing up, whenever my period start, no school for 3 straight days both in Secondary School and college days. But one day, you know the menstrual blood clots, I put them in a potty, yikes! And I poured hot water in it, lo and behold, it dissolved. So, ever since that day, a week before my period, no Coke, Pepsi or any sugary drinks till my period passed. That’s the end of painful cramps till today even after 2 kids.

When the thing started mmmmh. Mine ibuprofen to the rescue, hers the first 3 days, she doesn't get up, her babies at the mercy of her helps till she gets better. The pains no be here abeg.

osteoporosis and fractures etc. They are called climacteric symptoms.

    1. Many women don't know about the effects of menopause before they experience it. It has nothing to do with educational background. Did she study women health?

    3. Anonymous 15.16, you make menopause sound like a disease. Sobmenopause comes with it's own symptoms, does it come with period cramps? As Long as you are a woman who is menstruating, you will go through menopause at the age destined by the number of eggs you had at birth. Some have it early , as early as 21 and some others in their 50s, it has nothing to do with education. After studying the whole gynecology books, the knowledge won't prevent you from going through menopause in your life as a woman.

      Delete
    4. So you have to study women health to know things like menopause...chaiii very ignorant question...

  17. Anon 12:51,you are the typical wiseacre. She was expressing her pain. I am almost 60,and I still would not take period pains over what you listed---which Ihave experienced or still experiencing. Show some sympathy or hold your peace.Haba !

    1. Menopause is part of life and as long as you live toba ripe old age, as a female who menstruate, you will still experience it. Yall act as if , menopause is cancer, it is part of a females growth cycle and nothing wrong in wishing for it early or late depending on preference.

In menopause no period cramps, she is tired of period cramps.
