A civil servant, Oyeniyi Oyedepo, on Friday, told a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to end his 14-year-old marriage to Iyabo, because his wife slaps him whenever he disciplines their four children.
According to NAN Oyedepo in his petition told the court that his wife has destroyed their union.
“Whenever I beat any of our children for misbehaving, Iyabo becomes offended and would slap me. She is so disobedient and rude,”
In her response, Iyabo consented to the divorce adding that her husband is a womanizer, clumsy and dirty.
“Yes, I slapped him. But it was because he beat me up and told me to leave his home. Moreover, I want this marriage to end because I don’t love him anymore,” she said.
Delivering Judgement, the President of the Court, Chief Ademola Odunade, told the couple that their marriage could still work if they can be patient.
He also adjourned the suit until April 6, for further hearing.

This is serious, I don't understand why the judge is saying that, please separation should be granted at least. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha
ReplyDeleteIf the woman had admitted and said she still loves him and want the marriage, the judge would have divorced them fast fast. Immediately she said she doesn't want the marriage, the judge is asking them to reconcile.
All the best
KING XOXO MYSTERY
To be fair, it's probably the first time the case is been addressed.
DeleteInstead of the man to admit he wants a divorce because he's looking outside, he's claiming wife is slapping him. Mschew!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for once the woman is not begging court that she loves him. I've never understood why women would be begging court for reconciliation with a man who dragged them to court
This judge well so. The two parties no do again but you said they should be patient. I thought it was when one party opposes the divorce that court would grant more time. This should have been an instant divorce. Hopefully they wouldn't have killed themselves before the next court date
ReplyDeleteMust be a female judge
ReplyDeleteAh ah.
ReplyDeleteThey both agreed to divorce and the judge is telling them they can make the marriage work.
Nigerian judges sha. What right does he have to do that?
Even if a couple aren’t fighting and want to divorce because they no longer live each other, it’s their choice. Not to talk of when they are beating and slapping each other.
I hope they don’t kill or maim each other o.
Ibadan and all these stories about their troubled marriages. Na wah
ReplyDeleteIt's like this Judge wants them to kill each other before that April, the man wants a divorce, the woman too said she doesn't luv the man anymore and willing for divorce, why not grant their divorce instantly, this Judge sabi book so?
ReplyDeleteBuahhahahahahaha
