Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, disclosed that rail passengers are to pay N3, 000 per economy seat, N5, 000 for business class and N6, 000 for first class seats.
Amaechi, who disclosed this at the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, CIOTA, in Abuja, said the rates are for Ibadan to Lagos.
He stated that the railway line will commence operation before the end of the year while its commissioning will be in January 2021.
Amaechi also said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the transportation rates.
He said: “We charge N3, 000 per economy seat, N5, 000 for business class and N6, 000 for first class. The same is applicable to Lagos to Ibadan.
I have received the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the Lagos/Ibadan rail project by January 2021 which will make Nigerians see the way the standard gauge railway looked like.”

ReplyDeleteAmeachi, you know I so much love you but I am highly disappointed that the rail in the South Eastern Nigeria where you come from isn't functioning. What legacy will you tell your people you left for them when you were a minister? Too bad the functional rail system is all at the north and partly West.

ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious
Very hilarious. Only them will enter the train. They are supposed to lure passengers with cheaper fares.
DeleteThey are doing the opposite.
They know what they are planning. By the time no one is patronising their expensive train π, they will find a way to cause commotions for bus road users and people will be left with no choice than to go and be using trains.
DeleteThese people no dey reason at all? Why would train be more expensive than vehicle nitori olohun? Una never ready

People will keep using buses. Smh
What is really wrong with this government?!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they trying so hard to make sure people remain in abject poverty?
A train π ride from Lagos to Ibadan will cost between 3k to 5k when a bus ride is between 1k to 2k plus!
The price should be between 500-1500 and not that high price that they posted.
Las las it is them and their families that will travel by it.
ReplyDeleteAmeachi please don't disappoint us na, that price is too exorbitant biko.
