The chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, speaking at a press briefing of the task force in Abuja ordered the closure of all clubs, bars and restaurants.
The government also restricted number of guests at weddings , conference to 59 as new strain of Coronavirus hits the country.
“Accordingly, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorised the PTF to engage with the states and the FCT to assume full ownership of this stage of the response by deploying legal structures and resources, including enforcement to manage the pandemic within their jurisdictions.
“ All bars, night clubs, pubs and event centres, and recreational venues should be closed. All restaurants to be closed except those providing services to hotel residents; takeaways, home deliveries and drive-ins shall remain closed.”
Also the government ordered that gatherings linked to religious events should be less than 50% capacity of the facility.
The measure will be for the next five weeks as Nigeria hopes to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Better o maybe after cross over thru might stop Churches too
ReplyDeleteReports have it that the new strain of Covid has already been imported into Nigeria. May God protect us.
DeleteStella,it's 50 persons not 59, typographical error I guess

Deleteibadan people no go hear ooooo.........because they can like to do anyhow
Delete2020 should do and be going, what a bad year, more businesses will go down. God please rescue us.
ReplyDeleteOn second thoughts, I am thinking if there is a connection between this 2nd wave and the release of covid vaccine: just thinking out loud.
If mistakes of 2020 are not corrected in 2020 it will continue in 2021. So it is not about the year. Covid wahala, ASUU strike, economic hardship. Pray that things don't get worse because what is the government doing? What are people, yes Nigerian citizens doing? Faith without works is dead. Everyone should do their part.
DeleteLook at the crowd for Nin registration for instance. How will that prevent the spread of Covid? The gov will say one thing and do another. Never in synergy. People nkor? Imagine them collecting money from people for the registration forms that should be free and collecting money for photocopying. God help us in this country.
DeleteNo there is no connection
DeleteThere is a high frequency of travel this season, from IJGBs returning back from the diaspora to city folks returning to their villages so obviously COVID cases would increase
I believe Italy is on their third wave now, the US is on their second wave which started back in November. It has absolutely nothing to do with the vaccine.
@snarker,I thought they said covid test must be carried out on passengers before boarding a plane? How come travelers are still infecting people? I sincerely don't understand this coro issue again walai.
DeleteThe same government want people to go and register for national ID card and connect it with their sim.
ReplyDeleteStella you need to see crowd that want to register it and tell me if FG truly want to protect its citizens from covid19 they claim is in Nigeria.
Government has given 2 weeks extension for the registration
DeleteThey don't think that far
DeleteThey don't think that far
DeleteEverything is knee jerk reaction
It is not just the "ordering of the closure" like western countries do,
ReplyDeleteWhere are the palliatives for these business owners to survive?
How do they pay their rents and feed their families?
Or do you solve one problem and create a bigger one; hunger, death, robberies?
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
this is the main concern and question everyone asking
DeleteLocking everywhere isn't the issue of Nigeria, it is for the govt to provide for the masses that are asked to stay on lockdown because even if u lock everywhere and don't make incentives available, people will come out of their houses just to make ends meet. America has approved 900billion dollars, Nigeria govt which way? Please everyone protect yourselves and stay safe
ReplyDeleteWahala for 2020
ReplyDeleteWhy ban us all and still allow flights from UK?????
