    1. Exactly @Paris. It allows the people in government amass wealth for themselves to the detriment of the general public, legally.

    2. @Sumurai sword just struck me! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers".😭😭😭

My dad once said "the worst combination ever is foolishness and power". That is exactly what is killing us in this country.
I don't even blame the fool who fights for power and keeps it by all means. I blame the wise who aid him.

  5. Yes we do. Our Constitution has a lot of lacuna( incomplete, unclear and ambiguous) provisions and this enables the anyone to manipulate it any way that suits them.

Our Constitution is not contemporary. It's provisions are obsolete, hence it does not cater for the current situation in the country and even a progressive future.

    I'll be back

    1. Exactly my thoughts. What's the essence of having a new Constitution when the same set of clueless leaders are the ones in power.

  7. All the bills being passed into acts of parliament daily, have we felt their impact?
If they want they should revert to the independence constitution of 1960...I don't care anymore.

  9. I don’t think we need a new constitution though the one we have is not perfect. Our major problems are corruption at all levels and the fact that people are not being held accountable for the evils they do.So what Nigeria needs are new laws that make people pay severely for corruption of any kind.

    1. I agree with you.. Corruption has eaten deep and accountability is totally lost in Nigeria!

Nigeria as a whole needs to be renewed.

    2. I also agree.Nigeria doesn’t need a new constitution as the task of drafting a new one is very very cumbersome. What Nigeria needs are laws that will make people pay for their crimes.

  11. We need a new constitution since 2000, because this constitution is looped, it encourages corruption and contradicts its self.

  12. Sure. We need new constitution. The one we have is either carry over from the colonial era or military imposed. There was never "We the people..."

Stella what we need is 1963 constitution where all states will be regionalized. The centre is weak and other geopolitical zones stronger. Practice true federalism not this unitary government we are doing.

Stella 1999 constitution will takes us no where. It is a military decree drafted by greedy selfish military who are benefitting from it hugely. Greatly flawed and wicked document. It was not drafted with the citizens at heart.

  14. We do not need a new constitution but an amendment of the existing one..Certain clauses need to be improved on while other clauses need to be totally expunged. Examples of such clauses are fundamental rights of citizens and freedom of expression, stricter accountability for public officers with particular reference on corruption, age and qualification for president and public officers, Immunity of public officers, education, equality and diversity, declaration of assets, child's right etc.

I hope we are able to achieve this some day.
