The Nigerian presidency has stated that EndSARS promoters must face the wrath of the law for leading a protest that led to the indiscriminate destruction of government properties.
Garba Shehu, senior presidential aide on media and publicity on Sunday made this known on Channels TV, with his comment backing the recent freezing of suspected EndSARS leaders' accounts.
Shehu, who stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for his government, said the constitution, though allows peaceful protest, does not give room for riots and violence and noted that the EndSARS leaders who CBN froze their accounts must face the law
Recall that the Nigeria's apex bank was last week given the go-ahead to freeze the accounts of 20 people and a public affairs company linked to the protests against police brutality in Nigeria.
Garba Shehu further explained that with the destruction that trailed the EndSARS protest, the laws of the country must be "allowed to decide."
“I am not particular about any celebrity or promoter but this country has been harmed enormously and people should be prepared to account for what they did. “Now, the laws of the country must be allowed to decide, to rule on wrongdoing on the part of anybody." This country has only one president and has only one constitution. President Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for his government. The buck stops on his table."
Shehu also berated desperate politicians for sponsoring the EndSARS protest and told them to publicly denounce the destruction.
OMG! What's this country turning into for Christ's sake. No freedom to protest again?? Protest that was even peaceful ooo
ReplyDelete"Peaceful protest" that led to the destruction of lives and properties worth trillions of Naira across Nigeria. Over 20 policemen were killed across the country. Do you even have any conscience at all for saying it was peaceful?
DeleteHow did we end up with such awkward thinking people? Rather than take learnings and start doing the right thing, they are acting like fools by trying to punish the masses for asking for their right.
DeleteDear lawwwwwwd 😩
Dear Eesaah, while you have the right to your opinion pls can you be honest and straight when making this opinions? How many protesters did you see looting? Name one.
DeleteI saw protesters cleaning up after themselves, they conducted themselves and you come here to blame the protesters? I see your concience has been seared with iron. Pls what is true is true and what is wrong is wrong. And it is on record that hoodlums where paid to hijack the protest in case you didn't know. And also just to remind you PMB refuse to address the protesters when he should have. Had he done so at the earliest none of this would have happened.
It's sad what happened afterward but pls don't insult the #endsars# and those of us who come here to read. If you cannot be objective pls keep your mouth shut.
Mr nobody please can you people fo your own country. Let’s stop the pretence, there’s no longer a ‘one nigeria’ please take your backwardness with you and shut the door. Rubbish!!!

This has been their anthem.
They want to start what they can't finish.
DeleteAnd you all came for DT head we he called us a shit hole country. Wooow, its ok, time will tell.
ReplyDeleteClueless government.
ReplyDeleteYou guys should know the group of people behind this so called FG says. The North wants to bring the entire country to its knees before 2023. Thé earlier we realize the earlier we push back and get the non Nigerians amongst them out of our country. Jezzzzz how did Nigeria get this worse!
DeleteOh dear
ReplyDeleteThey are doing everything to stop protests in Nigeria. Arresting people, freezing accounts, seizing their passports, and stopping social media as much as they can. Yeah they can run, but they can't hide. When it is time for the inevitable to take place it will irrespective of what they do, because instead of trying to mend their ways they insist on being tyrants.
ReplyDeleteThis is no more a country...
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmhhh 🤔, they should pray really hard that another protest more massive than the last one should not come up.
ReplyDeleteNigeria which way???
That might just happen and this time, it’s to their houses both home and abroad.
DeleteNo hiding place for the evil ones.
Nigerians have enter one chance.
ReplyDeleteWe are in Milicracy administration
ReplyDeleteSmh
ReplyDeleteNigeria is not a country
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to say.
ReplyDeleteShey na democracy be dis?
ReplyDeleteOne major problem we may be facing in this country is to have hausas in all helm of affairs. They absolutely lack thinking faculty, they act before reasoning and that's why Nigeria is where it is today. Prosecuting those promoters may lead to another protest which even the government may lose country over.
ReplyDeleteExactly, they are so backward and power hungry.
DeleteVery useless bunch of illiterates.
DeleteThere were over 2 thousand youths at the Lekki Toll Gate that day, and none of them has been declared missing by their Families.
ReplyDeleteNot until they can provide at least 5 family members of those allegedly killed in the staged Massacre that they used to almost burn down the county, then l support the FG. The sponsors should be brought to book
🙅♂️🙅♂️🙅♂️
Oloriiibu nie esha-tomato. Werey omo
DeleteThis administration just keep pushing people to react.
ReplyDeleteEnd SARS promoters were promoters of peaceful protest. The protest was very peaceful until the wicked leaders introduced violence. First they sent someone to run into the protesters with a truck and some vehicle to pretend it was accident. Secondly they paid thugs to attack the peaceful protesters;armless protesters were killed like slaves in their motherland. Thirdly, the sent the military to shoot at armless protesters.
ReplyDeleteNow, tell me who is to be charged and prosecuted? We came in peace and the government introduced violence and they want us to suffer for the violence they initiated? Where is our human right? What are the Nigerian lawyers doing self. If the lawyers cannot defend the citizens then nobody under my care in future will be allowed to study law
Hian! Unku have you paid consultation fee? Which one is lawyers again? Did you contribute gofundme the way you do for bbnaija people and they didn't come out emasse to speak for you people? Did you pay for any lawyer's law school?
DeleteIt is only when police catch you people you remember lawyers.
If you don't want to have a learned gentleman in your family, your cup of akamu.
Please leave lawyers alone. Na wig and gown we get not ak47. Inukwa lawyers in Nigeria. Which Nigeria? We never pay rent sef na to face government
This is oppression. Try to silence people. Nawa o

ReplyDeleteWhat does 'end sars protest promoters' even mean? This is supposed to be a democratic government, right?
ReplyDeleteHow were the protesters supposed to know that hoodlums will hijack the protest?
They exercised their rights, if the government was proactive and had promptly addressed the concerns of its citizens on this Sarz issue, there would have been no need for a protest.
Go after those who destroyed properties and took lives.
Leave the protesters alone, they were peaceful. This intimidation/silencing strategy won't work. You useless lots will promise heaven and earth before you get into power and turn monsters once you get there.
When you have falsehood in power..this is the result.WHEN YOU BELIEVE A LIE,YOU BEGIN TO MALFUNCTION. the government are malfunctioning because of lies they chose to believe
ReplyDeleteWhat a country with very useless leaders 🤦♀️🤦♀️
ReplyDeleteIts a pity that just any thing can happen in this country. A peaceful protest has become something else and then government is looking for a way to break the youths...such a pity.
ReplyDeleteWickedness is in the blood of Nigerians generally so its not a surprise what has been going on. If e no happen to you you no go know
Wicked set of people we have in government.
ReplyDeleteSo why aren't those "desperate politicians" facing the law?
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't the accounts of those desperate politicians being frozen?
Ajuju &&&
DeleteY’all asked for this. You did. I am ashamed of this country. Even more ashamed of myself for being from this country
ReplyDeletePeople have freedom of association, please go after the hoodlums and not the peaceful protesters.
ReplyDeleteNormal and right things are not their area of specialization
DeleteWrong things
Misplaced priorities
White elephant projects
Jamborees
Useless things
Ehen,na now you come
This eesah or whatever the fuq his name is makes my blood boil! You need to shut tf up because you have no idea what you are saying.
ReplyDeleteWhy should he? He has a right to voice his opinion just like you have yours, do not try to drown his or lord of his, other wise you're also an Internet SARS and will probably do worse than them since your blood is already boiling over someone's opinion.
DeleteNawa oooooooooo, what's really happening
ReplyDeleteBuhari and his cohorts want to unleash the dragon in Nigerian youths. They want to start what they can't finish. We are ready for you people
ReplyDeleteGo and prosecute them now mtchewww. Garba and Femi AdesinaAl Adesina plus the whole Apc/Pdp crop of politicians in Nigeria think things will remain the same, the day of reckoning is very near and it will be brutal.
ReplyDeleteWe are waiting
ReplyDeleteWhen General Muhammad Buhari and and Tinubu them protested under GEJ, no account was frozen and nobody was prosecuted... Please Garba Shehu stop exiting another protest with your statements
ReplyDelete
