Mine is not a tribal mark. Mine was given to me based on some sort of ogbanje theory.
ReplyDeleteI was always sick growing up. Playing one minute, throwing up and shivering the next minute.
And then one igbe worshipper came and told my mum that I was an ogbanje child, and that my mum should cut a mark on my face, put some drops of the blood in small gin, mix it with ash and give me to drink. According to her, the mark will forever be there even in my next life, so if I die and come back, they will know it's me, so shame will not let me come back.
She regretted her actions till date.

DeleteSame story with me too, I was equally taken to Igbe house then as a child. I asked my dad why am I the only one with marks and his reply then was I didn't want to stay. 2 births before me died and I was always convulsing.
