Nigeria's VP Osinbajo Cries Out That Nigerians Are Living In Extreme Poverty..

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, admitted that millions of Nigerians are living below the poverty line.

Osinbajo lamented that the COVID-19 pandemic had further worsened the unemployment and poverty rate in the country.

The Vice President disclosed this after several sessions at the two-day retreat, which reviewed the challenges of the relationship and interdependence between the executive and legislative arms of government.

He, however, urged the executive and legislatures to work together in addressing the challenges confronting Nigerians.

A statement forwarded to DAILY POST by his spokesman, Laolu Akande quoted Osinbajo as saying: “Every generation of leadership must understand context. Law itself must be interpreted and implemented in context. What is the reality of the context that we operate in today?

“We all know, our nation has millions of extremely poor people, the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened unemployment and poverty.

“We have huge deficits in infrastructure, many children are out of school. If that is our context, we will be callous and irresponsible if we don’t come together, work together to sort out these grave life threatening problems our people have to confront every day. The dogmatic emphasis on procedural niceties is a luxury we cannot afford.”

  8. These people are just too self-centered,they do not care about how an average Nigerian is living. And to worsen the situation, the pandemic has caused the prices of goods and services to skyrocket. Gosh! Things are way too expensive.....you can't even take 5K to the market and buy something reasonable.Millions of Nigerians can barely put food on their tables, they basically eat from hands to mouth, our educational system is nothing to write home about..... All the graduate roaming around should better go and learn work because the government is not ready to provide job opportunities, all your shoes have turn to rag all in the name of seeking for employment.Parent should see to it that their children have vocational skills before they gain admission....as this handwork will really go a long way for them once they graduate.Even if they eventually get employed, the handwork will be like an added advantage to them.hmmmm

  9. They only "talk" without "visible actions"

They're always in "shock" without "shocking come back"

My own is that, only God will judge all the leaders.

  11. Personally, I think Osinbajo would have performed better. We saw a bit of this when Buhari was out for health reasons couple of years ago. The cabals won't just let succor come to the people. God will judge all of una. If the VP can admit they have failed (abi what other yardstick should be used since the people are suffering?), some dumbskulls still think otherwise.
    It's well!

  15. Ok we've heard you sir, yet a governor gave out 5m that would have been used to better the lives of people in his state or even fix the dead trap roads in his state to Laycon. God will judge all of you.

  17. If Osinbajo has joined the masses in just talking then he should step down. Its like he's just there and doesn't have the power to do anything asides making speeches. Osinbajo sir, step down because clearly, the powers that be have boxed you into a tight spot.
