Lecturer Reportedly Commits Suicide Over Unpaid Salaries

WHAT!!!!....

Friday Orobator,
a principal lecturer in the Department of Adult Education.
of Tayo Akpata University, Ekiadolor in Edo State, (formerly College of Education) has allegedly committed suicide.

Orobator who was over 50 years old and whose wife had just given birth was reportedly depressed over 13-month unpaid salaries.

The deceased hung himself at his residence in Benin on Friday.

The Nation reports that his body was discovered behind his house around 1:30pm with a green rope around his neck.

The father of four had complained over his inability to feed his family to close friends.
“Some friends of Mr. Orobator in Benin, Lagos, among others, tried their best in the past few weeks to assist him with some money. unfortunately, Mr. Orobator could no longer provide for himself and his family. His wife has just had a baby. Staff of the institution are pained by the suicide.”

Police officers from Oba Station moved his body to the morgue.

Fred Omonuwa, Chairman, College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) in the state-owned institution, confirmed the non-payment of salaries.

He said: “Everybody knows that Edo State government owes us 13 months of salary, which we continued to agitate for, even before the September 19 governorship election. It was tagged political agitation.

  4. Why do I think it may not be just the unpaid salaries. He may have been in debt as a result of the non payment of his salaries. May his soul find rest.

    1. Exactly. He may have been owing some persons and then depression set in. He couldn't handle the pressure.

Just like Abia state is owing us too. I shall be alive to receive my more than 20 months arrears of salary.
Pls Have a SIDE HUSTLE oh. Don't trust State government work at all. These governors have no human side.

    2. What kind of convoluted logic is this.If Governor Obaseki has been kind enough to pay them thier salaries won't he offset any debt he's owing.

Governor Obaseki, Governor Ayade and everyother indebted governors please pay your workers!

Cross Rivers is owing my magistrate colleagues 2 years salaries. Please pay!!

Afterall Buhari has released all allocations and Paris bailout to you guys severally.

  7. This was the same thing oshiomhole was shouting about, but people thought it was all about godfatjerism.. Obaseki deceived Edo people by saying Edo no be Lagos, they want to do to him what they did to ambode, and meanwhile he wasn't working in Edo state.. How can u owe people 13 months salary and u used almost 10 billion to buy governorship ticket in PDP.. Obaseki didn't do anything in Edo state when he was in apc, now that he is in pdp, he wouldn't do anything.. And mind you he closed almost all the state owned institution in benin (college of agric, school of health) closed by obaseki and their staffs not been paid.. Edo people still voted him and shouting Togba and Ogbane.. Suffering continues
