The secret not to be disgraced is make sure the akamu is not cold(refrigerator) while dissolving make it thick, let your water boil well. Electric heater may not give you the desired result.

ReplyDeleteI dey this table o.. Since my baby clocked 6 months.. I have started giving her pap, the akamu dey disgrace me wella, even when she takes it and notice any lumps in her mouth, she will vomit it.. She will even select the akamu using her tongues.. I kept asking myself how she take know say dis one na lumps but 2 days ago she swallowed garri with okro soup without wahala.. Just negodu nwa no 6 months can differentiate akamu lumps and d one that is garri lumps..okay na e go be.

Here is the secret to making smooth akamu (my big male cousin thought me):
ReplyDeleteDissolve it in as much water as you want to cook it with. Make sure it is completely dissolved. Pour in a pot, place on a lit stove and keep turning until it thickens. I even add my sugar when I dissolve. It works every time. You can add more water once it starts getting thick. Good luck.
