My work sometimes comes with some fringe benefits, one of which is travelling to exotic places and having fun while working.
Last Saturday, I travelled with an old customer and his girlfriend to Erin Ijesha WaterFalls, a beautiful tourist attraction in Osun State for sightseeing and picnicking.
On getting there, we met a family who had just arrived from Lagos that told us the place is locked down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
While we were still pondering on the next line of action since we couldn't travel all the way for nothing, two other vehicles joined us there.
Someone then suggested that we go to Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort in Ekiti State, which is about 1 hour away instead of allowing the journey to be a fruitless one.

As we left, I could only imagine the revenue loss of Erin Ijesha Water Falls.
Google maps did a good job this time even though we stopped to ask for directions along the way as I couldn't afford to take chances like the last time i travelled with that man.
On arrival at the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort, we explored the place and had fun all the way.
What was supposed to end well was disrupted as my customer had a serious quarrel with his girlfriend and she refused to join us in the car. I wondered what could have happened as this was a far cry from the experience we had while on the trip to Ikogosi. They sat at the back and ‘loved up’ in romance, touching and kissing themselves that I had to beg them jokingly at some point not to distract me as I drove.
I spoke with him privately to find out what the issue was and he said his girlfriend accused him of flirting with other girls at the Resort because he got into the water and took pictures with them. Secondly, she referred to an incident that happened the previous night when they were together in an eatery. He had asked another lady to suggest a meal for him to order because he seemed confused on the choice to make.
Make I no lie … this my guy na serial flirt but I had to come to his rescue at that point. I waded in and told his girlfriend that I was the one who asked him to get into the water as I personally took his pictures since she was not willing to change into something else and get into the water. Also, I tried my best in defending him that it was indeed harmless because a picture of him in that side of the water would tell a story about his adventure to Ikogosi (even though I know my guy got one of the girl’s phone numbers).
It took a while to convince her but I put in my best efforts saying some sense and nonsense. I even used myself as an example that I wonder what she would have done if she was dating someone like me whose job requires picking up of mostly ladies from time to time.
Eventually, she apologized to her boyfriend and we continued with our journey. At the end, the guy gave me extra money for bailing him out but I still felt bad about it because I knew I deceived the girl.
I had to protect my customer and keep the ‘bro code’; after all, I don’t know what the girl does when she is alone since they don’t live in the same town. Or, what could I have done differently in that situation? Na wah for my work….
