.
The Duke of Sussex, as he is formally known, and his wife, former actress Meghan Markle, retired from royal duties earlier this year in a quest for “financial independence”.
.
In doing so, the couple said they were giving up their taxpayer-funded income, and promised to reimburse the public money used to renovate their Frogmore House home.
.
Harry’s spokesman said, “A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by the Duke of Sussex.”
.
The money “fully covered” the renovation costs of the house, which belongs to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and will remain his and the duchess’ UK residence, he added.
.
Harry and Meghan spend much of their time in her native US.
.
Britain’s domestic Press Association news agency said the payment was made possible because of a deal the couple signed with Netflix, the streaming giant, announced last week.
.
No financial terms were disclosed but it was reported to be a multi-million-dollar deal over several years.
.
They promised to produce content that “informs but also gives hope”, as well as make “inspirational family programming” and “powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens”.
.
The Sovereign Grant, which amounted to £82 million ($108 million, 91 million euros) in 2018-19, is paid to the queen to cover her and family members’ official duties

*E good as una pay back..make everybody dey em dey.
They should pay back for their wedding too.
ReplyDeleteNa wa o!!! You should have told them to pay for the air they breathe in too. No matter what they do people will still criticise them
DeleteHahaha, dont mind them. They should also pay back everything.
DeleteThey are actually a useless couple and insult people's intelligence. A house his grandmother gave to him of which it was bought with tax payers money and now has a value of £20 million plus, is what he is paying £2.5 million for? They should refund everything, you are either in or out.
Delete11:36 and 21:38 the devil lives in your hearts.

ReplyDeleteVery good move. Let me see what else bad Brits will still run their mouths for again. Now everyone will face their front. Megan is very smart weather addressed or not, she is Royal. May God bless their hussle
ReplyDeleteI have come to learn one thing in this life, this World is full of haters! It does not matter what you do. Every sane man tend to love and are ever ready to fight for the woman they love against any thing. It happens to me before, you dont just care and you follow your heart and what you believe is great for you and your new family at that right time. Things may change later either for good or bad, but does it really matter, what matters is that you enjoy what you are doing in between. British people are very toxic people and they have very toxic press which were playing the brothers against each other who does that? But my discovery that the world is full of haters has given me peace, after all I moved to a new neighbourhood got a new car they gave it a key cut from back to front before day break. Most human rejoice , wait or even wish their fellow human being evil all of the time. But for me I wish Harry and Meghan well. Love is better than hate any day. And neither big wealth or royalty makes people happy in the first place.
ReplyDeleteKeep on with your good heart anon 15:51, may God bless you ♥️π
DeleteVery good one, indeed!
