He allowed himself get carried away by his emotions that he ended up worse than the so called offender. When you overreact, you tilt public sympathy in favour of the "offender". It's easy to mount the pulpit and pontificate throughout Sunday services, but the true test of a man of God is how you react in the face of criticism or any form of hostility. I'm sorry but these utterances are unbecoming of a minister of the gospel and I'm putting it mildly.
ReplyDeleteI'm in no way endorsing sexual sins or the more "obvious" sins, but I have noticed that most people place a lot of emphasis on them that they forget that there are actually "little foxes that spoil the vine". The average pastor would rather preach against adultery and fornication than preach against anger and loss of self control, which are equally offensive sins. What he just did, in my considered view, is as offensive as adultery.
Dear pastor, you not only went for jugular, you eviscerated, decapitated and castrated a man, whom ordinarily, you should pray for. It's like killing a mosquito with an AK 47 assault rifle. That's superfluous and rather extravagant. How do you use his marital status against him? It is an open secret that some of the most oppressed and depressed ladies are pastors's wives. They endure a lot for the sake of the ministry and stay married as a matter of duty. You call your fellow man a bastard? Lord have mercy! If you can descend this low, how would you admonish your congregants when they copy your colourful words and use them on each other? If you can't control your anger, what makes you fit to admonish anyone?
True, pastors are human by and by, but they and people around them have put them on a pedestal. We hold them to a higher standard because they are presumed to be almost blameless and most of them come down hard on perceived "sinners". I want to believe this pastor would be ashamed of himself after his passion cools. As a person who is supposed to be an Ambassador of the kingdom, this is an embarrassment to the kingdom. Pastors are meant to be the embodiment of temperance, long suffering, patience and kindness. You should exhibit the fruits of the Spirit, not just the gifts. I hope he would be humble enough to apologise for this outburst and realise he has fallen short.

1. This man is NOT yet born again. "Be angry but sin not", ", "let your conversation be seasoned with grace"a soft answer turns away wrath", "flee from every appearance of evil", "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks", "love covers a multitude of sins", "love is not easily provoked, does not boast etc.These are all from the Bible.
As a teenage newly born again I studied the word and kept it in my heart.

2. Check the life of the leadership of any church before attending. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. A man proud and condescending enough to verbally abuse and belittle, a nation (Somalia), an industry (broadcasting consisting of journalists, sound engineers, newscasters etc), implying that their salary or wealth is their worth does not yet have Jesus as Lord and Saviour or "ICHABOD", the glory has departed long ago! An orange tree cannot produce apples. "evil communication corrupts good morals". An unbeliever disguising as 'papa" will only serve his master and make you a child of hell.
3. I watched Freeze's reaction on Youtube.It was a pure class act. I watched the original video in question it was biblical. All he said was Mr Oyedepo omitted the verse before and after the most quoted verse by Nigerian men "wives submit to your husbands" without the context of the verse before it and the one after it.That a man must behave like Christ before a woman can submit to "the Christ he is like, just like christ died for the church, his bride. The church is us humans not brick and mortar! I did not hear any insult on Mr Oyedepo.
Are Christians in Nigeria now robots programmed by fascist gods of men? He is a Christian and its a free speech country why can't these fascist guys be corrected like Paul, Barnabas, Peter etc? Pride of life?
Stop adding God of any Nigerian to how God asked us to call him. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Your "GOM" has not finished his race and you really don't know"his god". Freeze spoke more like Christ than the one that issued "curses causeless the will not affect him".

If they united to reject tithes of corrupt proceeds and fight for the masses the way they fight Freeze and CAMA, we would have our MLK in naija leading social justice from the pulpits like African American preachers have. They do not. By their fruits we now recognize them.
