Former Beauty Queen Helen Ajayi Writes An ODE To Late Hubby On Her Birthday..

Lawyer and Ex-beauty queen, Helen Prest Ajayi remembers her late husband as she marks her birthday for the first time in 25 years without him........

In her words;

''I woke up this morning and realised that this is the first birthday I will spend without my husband in 25 years.

His quiet demeanor and unassuming look outwardly belied the fact that he was e-x-t-r-a as my daughters would say. He did everything with passion and then some. His motto was "What is worth doing, is worth doing to EXCESS!" My husband was a REAL MAN, in every sense of the word. Full of testosterone in everything he did. Everything was big and bold, but very loving.

My birthdays were always full of surprises. Partly because I would never remember (like today, I just remembered) and partly because of the gifts he would buy. For years he would always buy me a Hermès bag, a most expensive one, but not a popular recognisable one with their logo, so you wouldn't know.

I would be happy when I saw the orange box , then slightly (ever so slightly) peeved that it wasn't one of the popular ones with the . When I would point it out to him. He would say" but this one is far more expensive" and show me the receipt, then end the conversation saying nonchalantly. "What does it matter? What is most important is that YOU know." Gadgets were another popular choice (very manly), I possess every type of electronic gadget on the planet.

Especially phones. The other day I asked the price of an HTC phone one of his favourite gifts to me.When they told me I almost passed out, "Whaaaat!!!" I had always assumed they were a couple of hundred £'s maybe three at the most. That's the value I ascribed to a phone in my mind, but over £1000 for a phone?

I've been going through quite a few surprises like that lately. I'm thinking how I would gladly love to have him celebrate with me today and to receive any one of any type of present from him. I am writing this to remind everyone to cherish every moment you have with your loved one, even the annoying ones. Remember everything is done in love, it may be deep deep down, and you may not understand it in the moment, but it truly is.

Whenever we quarrelled he would always end it with " Helen I love you, I will always love you, I'm with you, that's all that matters. It takes death to realise that truly that's all that matters."

    6. Very materialistic write up. Judging by what she wrote ,she doesn't miss the man at all. She only misses what he gave her.
May his soul rest in peace. She will find someone else to fulfill her materialistic desires.

    7. This is not fair at all. It is her BiRTHDAY. A day she has shared with him for many years. How can she not remember all he did for her on a day as special as her bday. Of course it will bring nostalgic feelings.Things he would have done for her on that special day. See how u guys are going about how materialistic she is. She even rounded it up with how important it is to cherish moments but u guys did not see that . Na wa to una o

Her husband really adored her but Helen's write up speaks volumes. Quite a shame.

    10. But Helen is materialistic and has always been. That’s her lifestyle.

    11. Helen has always been materialistic. She acted like a Saint but she is nothing but a vain and superficial one. She left her ex-husband Jimmy Davies when he was broke and become 2nd wife to Dr Ajayi. She always run after married men when she was young and I remember when she was going out with Dr. Clarkson Majomi and he gave her a custom jewelry and lied to her that it was diamond. Fake ass woman and people wonder why she is Nike Oshinowo friend!

    12. Rumor in the press has it that Helen Prest Ajayi had a hand in Nike Oshinowo's victory as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria back in 1991. Nike later on denied it towards the end of her reign, but I remember reading reports about it. Happy birthday to Helen. What happened between her and Jimmy Davies (a relative of Ojukwu?)

    13. What happened is that she left him when the money was gone and become 2nd wife to Dr Ajayi.

  8. It wasn't as if there were no cherished memories between them but this is just a post about what it would have looked like on her birthday if he was still alive. Birthday memories, I guess.

  10. This lady has money but no class. She likes to tell everyone about how much her items cost. I remember one write up she did about how she went to Europe to but a dress for her birthday and something about flying first class... quite irritating. Your husband was classy. Real money does not shout. Those that know a Hermes bag will know when they see one. You don't have to have the logo screaming from the bag. Very showy lady, makes me think she is overcompensating for something. Distasteful.

    1. Lol!! Human beings!! She just told us how much her husband understood her love language which is of gifts but every one has called her names wow!!! Is it your marriage you think it’s easy to be married for 25years

    2. How she ran through Europe looking for her perfect 50th birthday dress!!! Hahhhhaha!

    3. Calm down. She married a man who likes her like that. Most of you are just mad because your husbands doesn't have the initiative to buy you stuff

    4. Nah 17:11 don't try that trite line here.
Some of us had fathers, brothers and husbands who shower us with much more than what she wrote as a tribute.

How could I remember my dad or husband when he passes on by just the cars, house, clothes, and jewellery he gave me?

It's curious she only mentioned material things and not precious moments spent together.🙄

    5. Same old materialistic Helen. Some people here understand. She’s very nice but very showy.

    6. Helen is from the Prest family, they are wealthy in there own right and she was well schooled. So all these bad belle. A man has every right, as does a woman, to find a new partner if he is not happy with what he ended up with. By the way, almost all first marriages are mistakes. Men are better prepared and mature by their second marriages. Her write up may sound materialistic to those that are from not well to do backgrounds, she expressed her love as she knows best. You too go and look for a man that would leave his wife for you. Bad belle bunch

    2. Seems the man was loved because he could provide... I thought the memories of a loved one should be about the moments together? Not how he bought you a designer bag or how much a phone costs.. it felt so weird reading this.
