    1. Yes it's okay. Very ok.
At least she will have property to go and live in and can take care of herself. No be the one wey go dey helpless when marriage ends.

  2. Nope, I would inform my husband and then buy the properties in my name. Whether he agrees or not, that one concern am, but let it be on record that I informed him.

  3. It is not okay, if you MUST buy in your name, let your hubby be aware. You wouldn't be happy if the reverse was the case.

    2. Exactly.

In my marriage, I don't ever think of acquiring anything sef. It doesn't cross my mind.

I am the person that manages finance and every other thing better. Whatever we want to buy or do, my husband will just say "babe abeg put your name and number, you know I don't know how these things work".

We understand everyone's strength so we work accordingly.

  5. In my opinion, I think it's ok. I mean, you can never tell what happens in the future.

  6. It is not okay! It is wrong for couples to do things separately when two has become one.

I understood some women are left with no choice because of the men they involved themselves with; but, that doesn't still make it right to take such decision without involving your spouse.

    1. I agree. We need to understand this "no longer two but now one" as regards to marriage.

  7. So a married woman can't do shit for herself without proclaiming it to her husband because she's married? Most women walk around knowing little to nothing about all their husband's assets, i don't think it's wrong if a woman decided to move in silence.

And whose name is she supposed to buy the properties in lmao?

  9. No, it's not okay.

The Bible says, two (husband and wife)shall become one.

Husband and wife must know what each other does at all time.

    No secrets!!!

  10. My mom bought the land in her name, my dad built the house. Her name on the document didn't matter to him, he knew who he married.
As for me, I'll buy in my children's names.

  11. It's totally wrong and there are no two ways about it

    ReplyDelete
  12. It is not.
These are things that should be discussed in courtships.
"The two has become one flesh" says the Lord. Mark 10:8
Choose between acquiring properties and marriage, between greed and selflessness, between the world and
    the sanctity of matrimony.
There is no need hitching on a ride without tyres.

  14. No
    And it's a no brainer.
Both should have same finances, accounts, property and so on.
If you are not ready for that, do not go and bear Mrs. Man's name.
Just stay in your father's houses.

  15. If she is married to the kind of a husband who is deserving of her undying loyalty then she should. She must! Sadly, most women aren't lucky in that aspect. Some are unfortunate to be married to destiny destroyers, loafers, men with inferiority complex who doesn't want to see them grow, some gold-diggers. We can't make a rigid rule. Yea! The man and the woman are one but sadly most marriages aren't a union in the real sense of that word. In such a situation I won't blame the woman if she decides to do the contrary. The ways of the man towards her will determine if being open or keeping such matter a secret, a wrong move and if his lifestyle makes her action justifiable then he automatically relieves her of such a burden. It takes two to tango. If the man isn't worthy of that honesty, then he won't get it.

  16. I see no reason why a woman wouldn't tell her husband she wants to buy a property/properties if she's married to a good man.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't think it is right. A married woman shouldn't hide anything from her husband likewise husband because two of them are one...

In case of a man that love reckless spending and lack the knowledge of saving or investing in properties. I will advise such woman to do her thing Biko.

  18. It's may not be okay, but if one check very well we realized that some things must have happened that makes the woman to buy property without the knowledge of the husband. Trust issues, family dominance/interference especially from the husband side are part of what could lead to a wife deciding to buy properties without informing her husband.

  19. My husband informs me but buys only in his name, i will do same when i start making money.

  20. My father left some properties for me but hubby isn't aware. My husband is a good man and I feel he should know about it.

  21. I am only putting my wife's name if it is a joint contribution. She will be informed though. The wife should do the same

  23. Depends on the man. Some men are so jealous and can't deal. People shouldn't say didn't you notice in courtship and you have called it off. You never truly know a person until you start living with them. Forget I love you with head and neck, it's when you are married you will know the real person and some people that are not in the same base with their spouse might not know the true person. I know a couple married for over 30 years, they living in different states for the first 13 years. So whenever they were together they each exhibited their very best behaviour. The wife told me she couldn't believe the behaviours her husband of 13 years was displaying, that she could have sworn with her life to vouch for him.

Know your spouse and keep knowing them. Check how they react on anything that makes your life progress especially the men. Women are good in this aspect, it usually men and their egos that feel their wives shouldn't own properties or use the husband's name if they must.

  24. This will depend on the marriageship.

  25. It depends on the type of husband, for some my own is our own, anything they buy is Mr&Mrs,while for some,my own is my own, your own is your own so wisdom is profitable to direct.

  26. I told my husband about the properties I acquired. He was angry that I told him after I already bought it. Mtcheew. Like play like play, when he had a little financial problems, will you believe this man told me to sell a land. He even chose the one. I just laughed. Kia Kia, I carried all my documents to the bank for safe keeping. I cannot come and die because of man. Lol

  27. I have two questions.. why a man would feel bad if his wife buys properties in her name and why would a wife not tell her husband she bought properties unless the marriage is dead already ?buying properties in a woman’s name without her husbands knowledge(not consent) is like preparing for divorce.

  28. My wife lied to me that the car she was driving was for her sister not knowing it was hers.i now told her to ask her sister if she wants to sell it and I eventually ended up buying a car from my wife for my wife.when I found out I just laughed, she doesn’t know I know and it’s been 5 years.

    1. Lol, this looks like the kind of a thing that my mum will do🤣😁.
I remember when she sold a house that was built by her to my dad without my dad knowing🤣.
When my dad found out, it caused big issue. He was asking for divorce & saying that any woman that can keep such secret can poison someone🤣!!
Yet, my dad is one of those Igbo men with the school of thought that you shouldn't disclose your full asset& properties to your wife because she might poison you if you give her an access😛.
The property had to be changed to my daddy's name before peace and normalcy was returned to the home, I guess this is why most women are hesitant with disclosing their assets to their spouse.
Most men want wives that can confide in them with every details about their lives, but some of them are very hesitant in reciprocating in that way.

  30. It depends on who the man is. It depends on the state of the marriage. It depends on who the woman is whether or not the man is good or he is doing his best or the best for the woman. True case: Husband had a property before marriage in his name. He bought the second in name of the wife and himself. He bought the third solely in the name of his wife. Then found out wife had bought 6 plots of land for herself secretly. Wife confessed and sought husband's help when wife started nearly losing her battle with omoniles (land sellers) over the land and wife knew her husband could help.

  31. It's not okay, secrecy is bad in marriage except something you want to surprise your spouse with.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It depends. If the man is not a good man, he doesn't deserve to know. Some women have been murdered for their properties by their husbands/his family.

If you hid properties, your husband finds out and he wants to divorce you because of that, LET HIM GO! Is there any wife that will divorce her husband just because she found out about properties she didn't know about? Abeg!
