Actress Eniola Badmus Talks About Fat Shaming And The Rejection She Faced As A Plus Size Woman In The Movie Industry.

Actress Eniola Badmus says nobody wants to associate with broke people as spoke #WithChude on social stigma and the power of self-confidence

On this week's episode of #WithChude, actress Eniola Badmus revealed to host Chude Jideonwo about the several rejections she faced as a plus-sized woman looking to make her mark in the movie industry, and how she used these events as stepping stones to success.

Speaking about her auditions in the early days of her career, Eniola said, “Some people just look at me and say, ‘we don’t want to use your body size’ but to me, I feel beauty is not by size. But size was a major thing people looked at then before saying, ‘no, we don’t want you”’.

She admitted that these periods of rejection were difficult for her, but she was determined to remain undeterred in the pursuit of her dreams. This determination, she revealed, came from the loving support of her parents while growing up. It was the reason for her confidence and tenacity. In her words, “Nothing gets to me”.

Being a victim of fat-shaming, Eniola commented on the issue of people being accused on social media for living above their means. “If they’re living a fake life, they’re living it for a reason, and the reason is so that they can get more jobs. Whether you like it or not, people don’t associate with broke people, so you need to fake it to make it. Fake life is expensive on its own.”

She described her current state of mind as being “very happy”, and said that she was grateful even just for being alive in the midst of a pandemic.

    8. Abeg, it is not by body size o. I know someone as big as Eniola who is married with children. She has always been big since when I knew her and that was when we are teenagers. Fat ladies around me are getting married and to correct guys sef. No be by body size.

All I think about when I see plus size people is potential health issues, not ability to attract the opposite sex.

Besides, any man who rejects a lady based on her body size is not someone I'll even want as a mate. What if circumstances such as pregnancy and surrounding issues makes the woman grow fat and unable to lose the extra weight? Such a man will become emotionally abusive and eventually cheat on his wife, using her weight gain as an excuse.

    1. Because it is a sad but bitter truth. I've decided this quarantine I will finally lose the weight that has been holding me back from marriage all these years and expand my dating pool. Wasted years of my life with men that either want money or sex but faking as if love is real. No more

  6. Gosh! What won't I read on Stella's blog biko nu. Such myopic thinking to say that genuine love is based on physical attributes or sexual abilities in bed. Nothing I won't hear from this blog readers. Mtcheeew. You people are the reason why Nigeria is the way it is.

    1. What about the nature of men has proved otherwise? The men who leave their wives for slimmer well put together ladies?? Or the men who pretend to love a fat lady just so they can use her?. Look if ur a lady, better sit yourself down n have a serious rethink on things. The game is not pretty but u have to play to survive. Or sit on the sidelines watching out of fear and defeat. Either you play the game or you're getting played or u watch n judge the players as the game and time goes on. Humans have not been selfless and capable of genuine love since Eve bit that apple. Wake up n smell the coffee, princess.

I don't get ppl like u. You want a certain outcome but aren't willing to put in the work to attract what u want. You wanna settle. Ok o

    1. Tell them anon@ 13:18
And they wonder why their marriages don’t survive the first sign of trouble or for those who choose to stay live a life of misery.
Instead of seeking and praying for partners with good character and fear of God they are focusing on superficial things.

  10. Eniola work on losing the weight for your own good health because yours have a solution.
Maybe you are not putting in as much effort or controlling what you eat. Or you could simply be lazy to put in the needed work.
You could also opt for liposuction. GET HELP.

What of people that have permanent disabilities, health challenges and albinism that face discrimination daily. Those are the ones we should advocate for.

As for faking it to make it, it's not a Nigerian thing but a Lagos thing.
Be yourself. The burden of fake life would either wear you out or kill you. YOU WILL LOSE GOOD OPPORTUNITIES and GENUINE FRIENDS.

  11. Lose some freaking weight then. You can't be a victim if you stop shoving food down your throat.
