Women don suffer sha.
ReplyDeleteLess than 30% of the bible was truly inspired by the holy spirit. Majority of the bible is influenced by the prevalent culture and tradition of the time and that is asides from the twisting by the people who translated and chose what books suited them and threw others away.
DeleteI trust the holy spirit that inspired my school textbooks than the one that inspired the horrible misogynys of those days. Go to Deuteronomy and you will understand clearly that God never gave any of those horrible laws that is still in practice in the middle East till date.
I will practice my own kind of Christianity till I find a name for it.
We are no longer under the Jewish law. It's not for us.
DeleteWhere did this come from? Because my
Delete1 Corinthians 15:34 says...
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”
Ano 17:58 you're right that's not what 1 Corinthians 15:34 says...i think that up there is made up by a silly individual
DeleteThe chapter is 1 Corinthians 14:34
DeleteThis scripture was written to the women in Corinth not to us, some of Paul's scriptures were letter written to some churches
ReplyDeleteThe women in Corinth include us today. We are the new testament church. It was written to them as an admonition to us today
Delete@ deheroine No, we are Nigerians and not Corinthians.Even though they were many countries and place in the world at the time of the passage, it was specifically written for the corinthians inline with their culture and tradition at that time. Please seek understanding when reading the Bible. Everyday we are corinthians, we are egyptians, samaritans, pershians. We are Nigerians abeg. If the bible were written today, there will be about 250 letters to Nigerians which take into consideration our tradition of each tribe. The northerners and westerners will get a different letter
DeleteYes we are Nigerian but the verse applies to us as it applies to the Corinthians who are Jews.We are spiritual Jews or how come we claim to be the children of Abraham(a Jew)and also claim the blessings of Abraham.
DeleteThis passage is meant for the Corinthians and not to everybody, please note that God call some women to ministry today. Should those women refuse their calling because of this passage? No
Delete"as the Jewish Law says" and one of the apostles (Paul, I think) believes in that law.
ReplyDeleteNot the Word of Christ.
You saved me from typing that
DeleteIt was Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians reminding them of the Jewish laws... Those words are not from God Almighty.
ReplyDeleteWe are not under the Jewish laws, we follow the commandments of God and the ways of Christ.
Those words are from God almighty.Where it is not from God,Paul clearly specified saying 'I speak of my own'.We are not under the Jewish law but the law is a foundation that grace was built upon.
DeleteAm here today to listen for this sermon.
ReplyDeleteHoly Spirit Direct the speakers well so that they will not lead us astray. Amen
"as the Jewish law says" last I checked I'm Nigerian, Igbo and not Jewish with a civil right to be opinionated.
ReplyDeleteWhen or before reading the Bible, ask for guardiance from the spirit for the gift of understanding and enlightenment.
The bible is written for the jews,we decided to follow suit. That passage ain't for me
ReplyDeleteTHE CHURCH SHOULD BE FILLED WITH MEN BUT WOMEN FULL AM. NOW THEY ARE TELLING WOMENNTO KEEP KWAYET ?
DeleteIF WOMEN NO COME CHURCH IN FIRST PLACE FOR NAIJA NO CHURCH GO FULL O
The Jewish law is just their own way and Apostle Paul wrote to them, reminding them of what the Jewish law states.
ReplyDeleteThey are from Paul and not God Almighty.
ReplyDeleteThey are from Paul and not God Almighty.
ReplyDeleteThe instruction was given by God through Paul. What is meant by women should keep quiet in the church is that women should not be allowed to mount the pulpit preaching. The bible condemns women being in authority in the church where there are men.The reason is because sin entered the world through the woman, thereby making her loose equality with the man. When she lost equality with the man,God placed her physical needs on the man and also placed her Spiritual needs on the man(she is to learn from him) and would not allow her usurp authority over the man.
ReplyDeleteThis is one angle
DeleteIn your head you think you don talk sense. Nonsense, just as society in the past believed all women should be in the kitchen.
DeleteI keep telling people to let the Holy Spirit guide them when it comes to Christianity instead of taking everything said in the Bible at face value.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 this is very funny.
DeleteThat's not true. When God punished Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, he did not single Eve out and say she alone was responsible. Sin entered through both. To your point that Paul wrote every time something came from him, understand that we can't truly tell that because of how people chose to organize the bible. He wrote long letters and it's interesting to me that there are only two places where he emphasized that what he said was from God and what was his. People are right that he wrote these letters to specific groups. You may use them as guide, today, but there's nothing that says we have replaced those people in the bible. I wish the church would release all the letters, memoirs and accounts people kept in those days because it would clear up the racism and misogyny people preach in God's name
DeleteAre you a member of Church of Christ? Na dem carry am for head
DeleteDeborah in the Bible was a prophetess called by God, who led men and women alike. No be Bible that one dey.
DeleteHaa@deheorine.
DeleteThis write up of yours sounds strange and funny at the same time.
It's ok o
@Foodie at the time God appointed Deborah as judge,Israel were rebellious and went their ways.God DECIDED to use her being a prophetess as judge for his own purpose
DeleteBut you can carry microphone and lead worship in church? You can sing and shout amen in church as a woman. You can give testimony in church. But when it comes to speaking on the spiritual you will keep mum and be nodding like an agama lizard to a man. If a woman is silent in the church should she be able to do all these things?
DeleteThis same thing been practiced at celestia
DeleteHahahah....this one go pepper feminists oooh. But the law also says if a married woman does not give birth before her husband dies, her brother in-law should marry her etc. Luckily we are not under da law!
ReplyDeleteYou know what would really pepper feminists? The day you reject all benefits of feminism. Just start by changing your salary acct number to your husband's.....hehehe
DeleteI would also love to know because it's a really conflicting topic.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a letter written to the Corinthians why are other chapters in the book applied to us today as regards husbands loving their wives and women being submissive.
Why is it only that 'one' scripture that we refuse to adhere to with the excuse it was meant for the Corinthians?
My sister na God go bless you..
DeleteWe tend to follow the ones suitable for us..
I would love to know too
DeleteIt is not meant for the Corinthians alone.Note the begining of the verse 'As in all the churches of God's people' it was written to them and also applies to us
DeleteI just tire
DeleteWe talk about the controversial issues of the more. That's why the marriage verses have more use. All I know is if God can use anyone, he can use me, a woman to speak. After all, I am only clay and I can't tell the Potter who will make me anything he wants how to make me and what to use me for. I also know that I can never fully understand God because I don't even know how a wombless woman can give birth. Let he who made us guide us. The passage says women not speaking is Jewish law and that is maintained in Judaism to an extent today. But notice if you go to Romans that the bible says no man or woman is Jew or Gentile. It says we are all one and free. Whatever argument you want to make, there's a verse for that. We do the same thing with regular books. The main issue I have is that though the bible says all inspiration comes from God, some people will use the passage to ignore any message that comes from God through women. Should women stop serving in the church too? What will happen to and in churches if we treat women this way? Don't cultures change? Too many questions.
DeleteDon't mind them writing and claiming trash
DeleteAnon 16:29
Delete'let he who made us guide us' that is the purpose of the Word, every guidance we need is in the word and the word has said let the women remain silent in the church.
'All inspirations comes from God,some people will use the passage to ignore any message that comes from God through women' messages that comes from God through women should not be ignored. This is because God has given to EVERYONE as he pleases a gift.So if the woman has a gift say vision or prophecy, she should definitely give out the message and as long as it's from God,it should be accepted and not ignored. The EMPHASISE is on women not taking leadership positions as regards the entire church and standing before everyone preaching as a pastor.
'should women stop serving in the church too' of course not.Women should teach fellow women, sing praises to God and help around the church but not mount LEADERSHIP positions.
According to Bible scholars the Corinthian women where misbehaving in church then and this was brought to the attention of Apostle Paul that was why he wrote a letter to them and instructed their women to keep quiet in Church.
DeleteThis is just one out of many patriarchal scriptures used to subdue and subjugate the female gender.Religion is not fair to the female gender and never will be. The curse of Eve!
ReplyDelete'Religion is not fair to the female gender and never will be. The curse of Eve.' This is true. The fall in the garden took away the right of equality. So now, instead of dragging,we ought to understand our place and everyone remain in the position God has placed them.
DeleteDeherione understand your place? We are not talking about husband and wife matter we are talking about man and woman matter. With women like you how can there be justice for women.
DeleteBut Jesus did not give us religion. We made religion out of the way he tried to teach us to live.
DeleteYes anon 19:00 men and women ought to understand their place/position according to the bible and there will be no trouble.Except you're not talking about the bible then that's fine
DeleteLady T true,Jesus did not come to give us a religion but to show us a way fit for us to live
African follow arabian customs and have infused their tradition into african culture.
ReplyDeleteI am african and i can never serve jesus or mohammed. Iwill only call on the gods of my ancestral mothers who have lived on earth before me. No religion speaks against slavery. All religions encourage slavery and sidelining of women.
Is that 1 corn 15 vs 34? Because different bible translations opened didnt say same as what is posted up there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anon 15:16. I thought is only me .
DeleteAnon 15:16 & Anon 18:01. It is 1 cor 14:34. I can say a lot on this, but I realized that some ladies are set in their ways, judging from the comments I read here.
DeleteReading the bible requires understanding from the holy spirit. There are some things i read from the bible eh, i just tire, it can be very confusing eh and the fact that different pastor preach contradictory messages that will confuse you the more.
ReplyDeleteThe bible is what I call two loop 🕳,,it will hold u down at some point n release you at the other.
DeleteOne needs better understanding
Gbam!
DeleteAfrican follow arabian customs and have infused their tradition into african culture.

Free thinker
DeleteThank you very much. No religion speaks against slavery, in fact they used religion-Christianity- to justify the slavery in the US.
DeleteWe Africans don't know what we are doing; we have confused and this confusion is still with us today. We travel to Israel and Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage spend our money in countries that don't care about us one bit. It is a shame!
I have a good friend who is From CHURCH OF CHRIST, the day she told me women don't have any place of service in her Church, I was shock to my teeth,
ReplyDeleteAccording to her, women are not allowed to speak or talk in Church, are not allowed to ask or answer questions, if them must do, they will pass the question to their husbands, their husbands will in turn ask the question on their behave and the answer will be given
Women are not allowed to sing, they allow only male singers, women are not allow to preach or be a pastor, women are not allowed to be an usher
In fact, women are not allowed to do anything in church order than come and sit quietly still the end of service and move out when church is closed
Shocking right?... E still dey shock me, infact my shock was shocked and still shocking still date
She was wrong to say women don't have any place of service in the church but she is right to say that women are not allowed to preach or become pastors.Women can and should sing and do other work/service in the house of God as it is service unto God but to be given position of authority, preach in the church or become pastors, this is what God condems
Delete😮
Delete@Barrack hoy that is an extreme case. And I will like to.say that scripture was taken out of context.
DeleteAnd besides the devil.wants us all confused and not able to understand scripture so he helps us to interpret it wrongly thereby getting entangled into a lot if things.
That's wrong
Very true, That Barrack Boy. My very close neighbour is a Preacher in the church, women are not involve in anything during the church service except when they have their women meeting. I'm no longer shocked with their way of worship; singing without instruments as if they are in a burial etc
DeleteYes, it is an instruction from God:
ReplyDelete2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That
the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
Women have a peculiar ministry in the church; that of teaching kids and other women,
even the men are banned from those ones; Titus 2:4
3Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior,
not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good. 4In
this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and
children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, managers of their households,
kind, and subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited.…
This is where women should teach in the church;
ReplyDeleteTitus 2: 3 Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good. 4In this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, managers of their households, kind, and subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited.…
Yes women can preach/teach a group of women in the church
Delete@DeHeroine
DeleteYes, and men are not allowed to do that. The Word of God is perfect Psalm 19:7-10
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
The problem here is translation. Not all words have direct English translations. The Bible was originally not written in English so as it is been translated to other languages, it's now been interested wrongly.
ReplyDeleteNa lie, you just dey find excuse.
DeleteAnd nobody deemed it fit to cross-check this from the Bible. In our world of copy n paste
ReplyDeleteThank you! I couldn't find anything like that(what is posted ) in my bible o.
Delete1 Corinthians 14 vs 34
DeleteLas, Las, dis thing wey we dey call Christianity na scam. White ma use am take control the world. Know God for yourself and seek him for yourself. Organised religion be it Christianity, Islam and others are man made; that's my opinion. States yours and don't bother to argue with you.
ReplyDeleteSo if women are not allowed to preach that means..

Amongst other women generals God raised for his end time move who may seem more "popular or powerful"(which they actually aren't their callings are just unique) than their husbands are in error then?
Please ask the holy spirit for revelation.
Just know that God called the unqualified and in some cases their reasoning comes up. Just like in 1 Corinthians 11 it can be clearly seen that he was talking from his own views, saying that a woman was made for a man and a man not made made for a woman but if you read down to verse 11, you will see where he talked about God's point of view on the issue of gender. God is a just God and doesn't see any gender as inferior. I was really happy the day I came across this chapter. Just find time and read this, especially verse 11.
ReplyDeleteThe temple curtain that got divided after the death of Jesus gave both men and women access to God's presence. However, men still lead most times because the are the head of the women. The women ask questions now and contribute too during church services. This liberation is one if the reasons women have a day they are allowed to celebrate women/mothers day unlike in those days when this Jewish law was being practised
ReplyDeleteDear poster and many of us who have sent posts.
ReplyDeleteGal. 3:28-29 (New Living Translation) There is no longer Jew, or Gentile, slave or freed, male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that yky belong to Christ You are the true children if Abraham. You are his heirs, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you.
That scripture in Corinthians was to the Corinthians even though we can take lessons from it. And they had a peculiar issue that made Paul to specifically ask that women be quiet in church.
You don't take a scripture from the middle and begin to dissect or try to understand it. You read previous verses and you read after the verses in contention and then do a bit of study. Then again while at it take cognisance off the culture and tradition of that day and put it together to understand the scripture. I'm however not going to do that for the poster.
The woman did not loose her place with God because of the fall as some posters have said. Her punishment was clear she will go through pains to bring forth and the man to will toil before he feeds the family etc. At no point did she loose her place. At least the scripture I quoted up there negates that. However, the devil has pitched the woman and the man against each other and really there is no need for that.
Ephesians 5:21. Said we should submit one to another. It therefore means that if the man recognises that God has blessed the woman with some graces he should allow the woman to function as such and the woman without any airs or feeling Andy superior in anyway. The same with the man too. the woman should recognize the graces in the man without feeling that the man is superior to her in whatever way. For the man and the woman were made both of them in the image of God. If both parties are humble and recognise the workings of God there will be no problems. More so if we are humble in out lane and ready to be used by God. The woman has not lost her place in God's plan.
The devil has pitched the man and the woman in a senseless battle of superiority that should not be given light of day. We are made different and with different talents and gifts to complement each other so that we can dominate as God wanted it from the get go. But the devil has to be subtle to steal from us so out attention is not focussed on what should be the main thing.
Sorry for the errors.
DeleteThere is nothing of such in the Bible, is this a joke?
ReplyDeletePart 2,
ReplyDeleteGod made the world and the people in it. We are His creation. We don't decide for Him. He decides what He wants.
So first of all when Adam and Eve, sinned we see God killing animals and covered them with the skin. There always has to be an atonement for sin by Blood. The Bible says the soul that sins shall die. We saw a lot of it in the Old Testament. But Jesus died once and for all and atoned for mankind so no more killing for a sin atonement. When we sin we go to God and Appropriate the Blood and we are cleansed. 1John 1:8-10. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. So in essence we are no longer under the law or to live by it. But to live by Grace supplied by the death and resurrection of Jesus.
We cannot understand scripture with our head knowledge it is an effort in futility. You read God's word by faith and let the Holy Spirit interpret the scripture to you. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life. Here is what 1 Corinthians 2:14 says "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him: because they are spiritually discerned.
The Bible and Jesus is no scam. Do your findings well.
I did a course on Women and Ministry. And one of the books we read is " God's Women then and Now" by Deborah M. Gill and Barbara Cavaness. Check on the internet.
They took time to do a research on the place of women and the man in church and came out with a beautiful book.
There is no battle anywhere between the Man and the Woman, know your place and function there. That's it.
Remember, God is only looking for a vessel to use. It doesn't matter if its a male or female. As long as there is a vessel He will use. End of story.
The battle between the sexes was created by the devil and fueled by our head knowledge and our complexes. If everyone knows himself and the gifts that you have, stay on your lane and dominate. You have no business trying to teach another how to be. If only we can appreciate who and what God has made us to be. There is no contest at all.
A man who understands his wife her strength and weaknesses can go to sleep. Same for the woman.
A pastor who understands his parishioners both male and female and their strength will not have too much pressure. Because he knows who to assign what tasks.
May God help us all. But Jesus is real.
Thank you for this. I took my time to read your submission and it seems I could hear your voice talking so calmly and softly. God bless you.
DeletePaul's was addressing those whose cultural practices discourages women from public speaking. We don't have such scruples.
ReplyDeleteBible no be word of God. Some egoistic men sat down to pen words of happenings they witnessed at that time from their own perspective and understanding, using their cultural beliefs at that time. Most of the Jewish beliefs then are anti women. Lots of contradictions in the bible. Our God is not a God of contradictions, so there is no way He will uphold that literature as His Word.
ReplyDeleteDen no born that woman well to talk where I dey.i resign from my work place it was head by an ordinary woman.
ReplyDeleteAnon 22:23, carry on brother and let poverty inspire you. It’s only poverty stricken educated illiterates like you who relegates women. idiot
DeleteOn this topic I recommend Kenneth Hagin 'The Woman Question' it's insightful and revealing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's late to drop this,
ReplyDeleteMyself and my uncle once discussed this passage and this was our resolution;
You see, those days the way the synagogue was built was like a stadium kind, the speaker is at the middle and then surrounded by others based on their ranks( Pharisees, Sadducees, scribe etc.
It was common that while the message was going on, those at the back would want to know what's being said( most of us do this sometimes)
So the woman calls out to her husband to know what was said, it was with this knowledge that we concluded that ; Paul wasn't speaking about preaching or teaching by women.
But about the noise that their interruption brings.
And that they should keep quiet and ask their questions after the teachings instead of calling out to their husbands to know what was said.
Please post
Thank you
Ignorance of the real interpretation and application of this passage by many of this blog... None of you here are trained in explaining bible passages... If it was not inspired by the Holy Spirit it would not be part of the bible. Have you not realised that the time and place this was written especially in Corinth women were dominant and they wanted to do in the church that was male oriented in hierarchy... Times have changed and the role of women have changed and being accommodated. Men and women are equal but different in functions. The man is the head and the woman complements him and should not lead...
