    1. Less than 30% of the bible was truly inspired by the holy spirit. Majority of the bible is influenced by the prevalent culture and tradition of the time and that is asides from the twisting by the people who translated and chose what books suited them and threw others away.

I trust the holy spirit that inspired my school textbooks than the one that inspired the horrible misogynys of those days. Go to Deuteronomy and you will understand clearly that God never gave any of those horrible laws that is still in practice in the middle East till date.

I will practice my own kind of Christianity till I find a name for it.

      1 Corinthians 15:34 says...

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”

    2. @ deheroine No, we are Nigerians and not Corinthians.Even though they were many countries and place in the world at the time of the passage, it was specifically written for the corinthians inline with their culture and tradition at that time. Please seek understanding when reading the Bible. Everyday we are corinthians, we are egyptians, samaritans, pershians. We are Nigerians abeg. If the bible were written today, there will be about 250 letters to Nigerians which take into consideration our tradition of each tribe. The northerners and westerners will get a different letter

    3. Yes we are Nigerian but the verse applies to us as it applies to the Corinthians who are Jews.We are spiritual Jews or how come we claim to be the children of Abraham(a Jew)and also claim the blessings of Abraham.

We are not under the Jewish laws, we follow the commandments of God and the ways of Christ.

  11. The instruction was given by God through Paul. What is meant by women should keep quiet in the church is that women should not be allowed to mount the pulpit preaching. The bible condemns women being in authority in the church where there are men.The reason is because sin entered the world through the woman, thereby making her loose equality with the man. When she lost equality with the man,God placed her physical needs on the man and also placed her Spiritual needs on the man(she is to learn from him) and would not allow her usurp authority over the man.

    3. That's not true. When God punished Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, he did not single Eve out and say she alone was responsible. Sin entered through both. To your point that Paul wrote every time something came from him, understand that we can't truly tell that because of how people chose to organize the bible. He wrote long letters and it's interesting to me that there are only two places where he emphasized that what he said was from God and what was his. People are right that he wrote these letters to specific groups. You may use them as guide, today, but there's nothing that says we have replaced those people in the bible. I wish the church would release all the letters, memoirs and accounts people kept in those days because it would clear up the racism and misogyny people preach in God's name

But when it comes to speaking on the spiritual you will keep mum and be nodding like an agama lizard to a man. If a woman is silent in the church should she be able to do all these things?

If it's a letter written to the Corinthians why are other chapters in the book applied to us today as regards husbands loving their wives and women being submissive.

    4. We talk about the controversial issues of the more. That's why the marriage verses have more use. All I know is if God can use anyone, he can use me, a woman to speak. After all, I am only clay and I can't tell the Potter who will make me anything he wants how to make me and what to use me for. I also know that I can never fully understand God because I don't even know how a wombless woman can give birth. Let he who made us guide us. The passage says women not speaking is Jewish law and that is maintained in Judaism to an extent today. But notice if you go to Romans that the bible says no man or woman is Jew or Gentile. It says we are all one and free. Whatever argument you want to make, there's a verse for that. We do the same thing with regular books. The main issue I have is that though the bible says all inspiration comes from God, some people will use the passage to ignore any message that comes from God through women. Should women stop serving in the church too? What will happen to and in churches if we treat women this way? Don't cultures change? Too many questions.

'let he who made us guide us' that is the purpose of the Word, every guidance we need is in the word and the word has said let the women remain silent in the church.

'All inspirations comes from God,some people will use the passage to ignore any message that comes from God through women' messages that comes from God through women should not be ignored. This is because God has given to EVERYONE as he pleases a gift.So if the woman has a gift say vision or prophecy, she should definitely give out the message and as long as it's from God,it should be accepted and not ignored. The EMPHASISE is on women not taking leadership positions as regards the entire church and standing before everyone preaching as a pastor.

'should women stop serving in the church too' of course not.Women should teach fellow women, sing praises to God and help around the church but not mount LEADERSHIP positions.

I have a good friend who is From CHURCH OF CHRIST, the day she told me women don't have any place of service in her Church, I was shock to my teeth,

According to her, women are not allowed to speak or talk in Church, are not allowed to ask or answer questions, if them must do, they will pass the question to their husbands, their husbands will in turn ask the question on their behave and the answer will be given

Women are not allowed to sing, they allow only male singers, women are not allow to preach or be a pastor, women are not allowed to be an usher

In fact, women are not allowed to do anything in church order than come and sit quietly still the end of service and move out when church is closed

  20. Yes, it is an instruction from God:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That
the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

Women have a peculiar ministry in the church; that of teaching kids and other women,
even the men are banned from those ones; Titus 2:4
3Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior,
not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good. 4In
this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and
children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, managers of their households,
kind, and subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited.…

  26. Just know that God called the unqualified and in some cases their reasoning comes up. Just like in 1 Corinthians 11 it can be clearly seen that he was talking from his own views, saying that a woman was made for a man and a man not made made for a woman but if you read down to verse 11, you will see where he talked about God's point of view on the issue of gender. God is a just God and doesn't see any gender as inferior. I was really happy the day I came across this chapter. Just find time and read this, especially verse 11.

  27. The temple curtain that got divided after the death of Jesus gave both men and women access to God's presence. However, men still lead most times because the are the head of the women. The women ask questions now and contribute too during church services. This liberation is one if the reasons women have a day they are allowed to celebrate women/mothers day unlike in those days when this Jewish law was being practised

  28. Dear poster and many of us who have sent posts.

Gal. 3:28-29 (New Living Translation) There is no longer Jew, or Gentile, slave or freed, male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that yky belong to Christ You are the true children if Abraham. You are his heirs, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you.

That scripture in Corinthians was to the Corinthians even though we can take lessons from it. And they had a peculiar issue that made Paul to specifically ask that women be quiet in church.

You don't take a scripture from the middle and begin to dissect or try to understand it. You read previous verses and you read after the verses in contention and then do a bit of study. Then again while at it take cognisance off the culture and tradition of that day and put it together to understand the scripture. I'm however not going to do that for the poster.

The woman did not loose her place with God because of the fall as some posters have said. Her punishment was clear she will go through pains to bring forth and the man to will toil before he feeds the family etc. At no point did she loose her place. At least the scripture I quoted up there negates that. However, the devil has pitched the woman and the man against each other and really there is no need for that.

Ephesians 5:21. Said we should submit one to another. It therefore means that if the man recognises that God has blessed the woman with some graces he should allow the woman to function as such and the woman without any airs or feeling Andy superior in anyway. The same with the man too. the woman should recognize the graces in the man without feeling that the man is superior to her in whatever way. For the man and the woman were made both of them in the image of God. If both parties are humble and recognise the workings of God there will be no problems. More so if we are humble in out lane and ready to be used by God. The woman has not lost her place in God's plan.
The devil has pitched the man and the woman in a senseless battle of superiority that should not be given light of day. We are made different and with different talents and gifts to complement each other so that we can dominate as God wanted it from the get go. But the devil has to be subtle to steal from us so out attention is not focussed on what should be the main thing.

  30. Part 2,

God made the world and the people in it. We are His creation. We don't decide for Him. He decides what He wants.

So first of all when Adam and Eve, sinned we see God killing animals and covered them with the skin. There always has to be an atonement for sin by Blood. The Bible says the soul that sins shall die. We saw a lot of it in the Old Testament. But Jesus died once and for all and atoned for mankind so no more killing for a sin atonement. When we sin we go to God and Appropriate the Blood and we are cleansed. 1John 1:8-10. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. So in essence we are no longer under the law or to live by it. But to live by Grace supplied by the death and resurrection of Jesus.

We cannot understand scripture with our head knowledge it is an effort in futility. You read God's word by faith and let the Holy Spirit interpret the scripture to you. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life. Here is what 1 Corinthians 2:14 says "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him: because they are spiritually discerned.

The Bible and Jesus is no scam. Do your findings well.

I did a course on Women and Ministry. And one of the books we read is " God's Women then and Now" by Deborah M. Gill and Barbara Cavaness. Check on the internet.

They took time to do a research on the place of women and the man in church and came out with a beautiful book.

There is no battle anywhere between the Man and the Woman, know your place and function there. That's it.

Remember, God is only looking for a vessel to use. It doesn't matter if its a male or female. As long as there is a vessel He will use. End of story.

The battle between the sexes was created by the devil and fueled by our head knowledge and our complexes. If everyone knows himself and the gifts that you have, stay on your lane and dominate. You have no business trying to teach another how to be. If only we can appreciate who and what God has made us to be. There is no contest at all.

A man who understands his wife her strength and weaknesses can go to sleep. Same for the woman.

A pastor who understands his parishioners both male and female and their strength will not have too much pressure. Because he knows who to assign what tasks.

May God help us all. But Jesus is real.

  32. Bible no be word of God. Some egoistic men sat down to pen words of happenings they witnessed at that time from their own perspective and understanding, using their cultural beliefs at that time. Most of the Jewish beliefs then are anti women. Lots of contradictions in the bible. Our God is not a God of contradictions, so there is no way He will uphold that literature as His Word.

  35. I don't know if it's late to drop this,
    Myself and my uncle once discussed this passage and this was our resolution;
You see, those days the way the synagogue was built was like a stadium kind, the speaker is at the middle and then surrounded by others based on their ranks( Pharisees, Sadducees, scribe etc.

It was common that while the message was going on, those at the back would want to know what's being said( most of us do this sometimes)

So the woman calls out to her husband to know what was said, it was with this knowledge that we concluded that ; Paul wasn't speaking about preaching or teaching by women.
But about the noise that their interruption brings.
And that they should keep quiet and ask their questions after the teachings instead of calling out to their husbands to know what was said.

    Please post

    Thank you

  36. Ignorance of the real interpretation and application of this passage by many of this blog... None of you here are trained in explaining bible passages... If it was not inspired by the Holy Spirit it would not be part of the bible. Have you not realised that the time and place this was written especially in Corinth women were dominant and they wanted to do in the church that was male oriented in hierarchy... Times have changed and the role of women have changed and being accommodated. Men and women are equal but different in functions. The man is the head and the woman complements him and should not lead...
