NUJ berated Fani-Kayode for what it tagged as “gangster-like” attack on the journalist.
Fani-Kayode could be seen in a viral video hurling abusive words on the reporter during a press briefing for asking him what he termed “insulting question.”
Reacting, NUJ President, Chris Isiguzo, in a statement, stressed that the reporter only asked “a simple question” and Fani-Kayode’s comment was uncalled for.
He said: “For him to have embarked on an assessment of projects in some states, even though we are yet to be told under what platform, he is doing so, it is proper for the media to hold him to account for his actions and decisions.”
Isiguzo said Fani-Kayode’s reaction to the question was against “simple decorum and civility” and, therefore, “unacceptable, dishonourable and reprehensible.”
He demanded a retraction from him.
“By delving into politics and holding political office, Fani Kayode is very conversant with the watchdog role of the media.
“We are more shocked that the same Kayode who had in recent times, used his social media handles to call leaders to account is at the same time attacking a journalist for a simple demand for him to unmask those behind his nationwide tour.
“He had already visited six states. This is indeed, terribly disappointing.
“By denigrating the journalist, Fani Kayode has exposed himself the more as an intolerant and unstable person who will not want his activities closely scrutinised by the media.
NUJ lack ethics,I would have punch the reporter if I was in his (FFK) shoe. What kind of provocative question is that? That is what we call selective journalism.
ReplyDeleteWhat is provocative about the question? Tell me is FFK a current minster or commissioner..He came to the state on private terms so why arrange for a press conference?
DeletePunch the reporter for what exactly? This is someone that is constantly throwing derogatory words on SM. He fights dirty. What has he not called Osibanjo? Has that one punched or even dignified him with a response?
DeleteHe needs to act his age and puts his emotions in check.
Punch him for what? Are u unstable too?
DeleteTrust NUJ.FFK is in for it. They will so drag him,ehn
ReplyDeleteNUJ sanction those other journalists present..They could have boycotted the press conference..Where is their dignity and self-confidence? Femi Kayode are those people that should be heard not seen..I know Baba OBJ will put him in his place very soon..Former Aviation Minister indeed wey chop money allocated to clear the forest at Old MMA? Why should Femi Kayode go and inspect projects as what again?
ReplyDeleteGood they are with their own
ReplyDeleteFFK, his only achievement as Minister was Acquiring Side-chicks and engineering the destruction of GEJ government 😏, Very shameless and uncoth individual
ReplyDeleteSo unprofessional of him.. be like Trump that will just ignore you and shout next question pls!!!!
ReplyDeleteNa today FFK be gangster? Area boy wey dey speak adjebor.
ReplyDeleteAs they are ready to drag him, he is prepared to drag whoever into the gutter with him.
Firstly what does ones religion have to do with this issue? is religious title or membership royalty to be respected? 2 wrongs do not make a right but RESPECT AND DISRESPECT IS RECIPROCAL and ACTION AND REACTION ARE EQUAL AND OPPOSITE, that is a very stupid question that no sensible journalist will ask cus it has no bearing on the issues for the press conference, so why will he not suspect you of being a paid agent and shut you down quick, how is he supposed to know your motives are genuine with such a question when journalists too are bought and work for politicians? That journalists was unprofessional and President Trump shuts down such stupid questions all the time, you may say you dont like it then chose and phrase your words and statements carefully or you will get a careless reply too. If you put leaf in your mouth and address a deaf an dumb person, he will open your skull in reply, yes it is bad but you brought it upon yourself.
ReplyDeletewhere did you see religion?he was asked who funds his tour, just a simple question.
Delete@iyke u would have been considered wise if u had kept ur mouth shut.ur response shows u dont understand simple ethics n decorum required of public officers or discussions.this is not ur typical ipob agitation I suspect u r conversant with so go back to ur caveman environment filled with shouting n ranting over baseless issues ok
Deletehe is not a responsible person, just riding on his father's goodwill. he lacks the integrity to be a leader.
ReplyDeleteWell said Anonymous 11:48
DeleteFFK,few days ago,you accused Nigerian youths of shouting laycon laycon up and down instead of holding their leaders accountable for their actions. He probably took your advise and decided to find out who is bankrolling you.Are you funding yourself? Are you being bankrolled by the governors of the states you visited? Just a simple question that deserves a simple answer and you went all out on the poor guy, yet you expect our youths to hold our leaders accountable. With all due respect sir!, your brain is "paining" you.
ReplyDeleteHe took it too far, the question put before him was meant to put him on a pedestal, but alas, it landed on the wrong side of the brain and this resulted to his outburst.
ReplyDeleteThis has shown that you don't abuse the elderly and think that you would go Scot free with it. He has dragged and abused the President and his Vice countless times without sparing them. Aside that, he does not see good in anyone but himself and this results to the unwarranted outburst he had with the journalist.
He asked " Do you know who I am", my response would have been Yes, you are nothing but an ordinary mortal who visits the toilet when the need arise.
