Former Nigerian Minister Femi Fani Kayode Under Fire For Calling Journalist Stupid.

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has come under heavy criticism for abusing journalists during a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

In a video that had since gone viral on social media, Fani-Kayode is seen giving the Daily Trust reporter, Eyo Charles, dressing down for asking him a “stupid question”.

The journalist was said to have asked Fani-Kayode who “bankrolled” his recent tour of several southern states.

However, the former minister, who was infuriated by the question, said the journalist was stupid.

He said, “I am saying this on live TV. What type of stupid question is that? Bankrolling who? Do you know who you are talking to? I will not take any questions from this man. What type of insulting question is that? Which bankroll? To do what? Who can give me money for anything? Who do you think you are talking to? Go and report yourself to your publisher? Please don’t insult me here. I don’t want to take any questions from this man.

“I could see from your face before you got here, how stupid you are. Don’t ever talk to me like that. Who do you think you’re talking to? Bankroll who? You think I am one of those ones you… from who, when, how? You have a small mind, a very small mind. Don’t judge me by your own standards.”

The viral video has been trending on social media for several hours with many condemning Fani-Kayode’s outbursts.

    1. Journalism profession need a total overhaul and they should have self-confidence..Why was the guy apologizing instead of maybe reframing the question or insist on the same question...

The NUJ should sanction the other journalists present who could not challenge Fani Kayode but instead were blaming their colleague...it is indeed a sad time for journalism in Nigeria.

Also they should stop collecting brown envelopes for these people..

  3. That was too much to say to that man. The same FFK that drags Buhari by the balls and calls him out at any given time he deem fits is angry over a question he could have answered with dignity. Nonsense.

    1. Imagine. He will open his mouth to abuse everyone but a reporter throws a small question at him and he loses it, very immature and short tempered.

  5. 1). The journalist should have rephrased his question, "sir you're touring the country inspecting projects, who is financing it? Accomodations, transportation etc, is it the PDP"? Something like this.

    2) imagine such question was asked to lie Mohammed, he would have called it hate speech and fined the paper/journalist just like mailafia is being hunted for his Boko Haram/ governor comment.

3)FFK should NOT apologize for anything!!!

  6. He went too far in his reaction I must say but again, I believe he should have done better by addressing the issue he wasn't please with from the journalist. Also, journalist should learn how to be professional in their duties and not force words into people's mouth.

    1. Force what into whose mouth? He asked a simple question. Learn to say things with your full chest and not talking from both sides of your mouth. I am saying this because your second paragraph isn't necessary at all.

    2. Anonymous, there is actually a better way the journalist would have thrown that question. Don't you think so? Better still, rephrase it. The 'bankrolled' there I believe is the cause of the problem. The journalist asked in certainty when he said "who bankroll" Don't you think it's a kinda indictment?

In all, I still fault FFK outburst.

    3. This journalist has to be tutored on how to ask certain questions. That question smacks of mischief and actually meant to embarrass FFK. The outrage from NUJ is certainly uncalled for

  7. His outburst was typical of a junkie. They get paranoid and see everything as an attack plus he has delusions of grandiose. The mad man should be handled by NUJ. All the other idiots journalists saying sorry sir were very unprofessional and more concerned about their balance

    1. There is nothing wrong with FK outburst, some of those journalist can get on your nerves sometimes and the only thing you can do is to draw a red line and damn them to cross it if they can.

  9. The video is disgusting to say the least. A simple 'No, nobody is bankrolling me' would have been better. But, no. Oga went on yapping about who he is and not supposed to be asked 'stupid questions'.

And the reporters were busy chorusing 'Sorry Sir'. Really? Sorry for doing your job?

  10. I watched the video, and I was pissed off. Like wth. The journalist even kept quiet sef. You can't intimidate me, while I'm doing my job o. Called the guy stupid, rude. He was going to report the guy to his boss. "I don't take, I give. I have never been poor, and I'll never be poor"🙄🙄🙄. Who asked you. What happened to not responding when asked a question, why berate someone like that.

    3. FFK has always been known to be tactless so no surprise here.

Generally speaking, many Nigerians have an unhealthy fear and undeserving respect for wealthy people.

  11. That question wasn’t necessary , very irrelevant. What point was d journalist trying to score , when there are important, pressing national issues bothering us. ? Post Covid, schools, churches, killings all over d country, elections around d corner in some states, zoning of 2023 Presidency , Nigeria interfering in other troubled neighboring countries , when we have our problems ,et al. FFK is more or less experienced & a legend in politics, so d States he visited recently may have invited him & should sponsor his trip. No big deal. That journalist no get content.

    1. What are you saying? All the info you know about the government who is giving them to you? There was no stupid question in it..Femi Kayode should have answered in a respectable as a ''former minister''..For him to check projects could mean that the governor has been sponsoring his trips..Please lets grow up and call a spade a spade please

    2. Phoenix, there's everything stupid in that question. It was very unnecessary pls, he asked that just to rile him up and got the deserved response

    3. that question was not stupid but he did not ask it proffessionally. i would have said sir, there are lots of rumours going around that you are being bankrolled by certain politicians, sir are there any truths to this rumours? let him answer you then. you dont ask questions like you believe the rumours and you are just asking him the names of those bankrolling him...the reason you ask questions is to get feedback and more information not rile your guest and make them close up..FKK wey dey smoke things naim e go make that kind mistake.

    1. I think that was an insulting and stupid question to ask, unless my understanding of that word is far from the real meaning. Being a journalist is not a gateway to stupidity, anyway, we are in the era of "anything my man does is right", so journalists and stupid minds will support their man.
