FC Barcelona has officially fired its manager Quique Setien after a disastrous Champions League defeat, the Spanish club announced on Monday evening.
This is coming after the club suffered a disastrous 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich on Friday in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
It is not clear who will replace the 61-year-old Spanish boss yet, however the club said it will announce a new manager in the coming days, as part of "a wide-ranging restructuring of the first team".
But meanwhile, Ronald Koeman has in principle agreed to take over as Barcelona head coach, according to various media reports
Koeman, a former Barcelona player, is currently in charge of The Netherlands national football team. According to Sky Sports, Barcelona officials are in discussions with the Dutch Football Association over compensation.
