  6. 2Corinthians 9:7: "Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

That scripture says it all, tithe was a compulsory levy to the Jews, and it was for a purpose, for the Levites who were not allowed to do any other work but temple services. But that commandment has been done away with since the natural Jews are no longer God's chosen people but has been extended to all (John 3:16).

But from the account of 2Co 9:7, you are to make a resolve in your heart what you should give to God as long as you do it without grudge and without anybody forcing you to do it. God is not interested o the amount you give. He's only interested on your heart condition. Jesus demonstrated when the widow gave all she had even though what she gave was of small value.

    2. If we give to orphans widows and those in need, will dt do? I give out every week by His grace and I don't say no to anybody that ask if I have which is often and because I believe my money is not mine alone to spend but pastor telling me if I don't pay tithe the door of favour, marriage childbearing will not open for me makes me uncomfortable.

    5. 11:58 you've spoken the truth and the truth sets souls free!👌

However, the natural Jews ARE STILL God's chosen because when Jesus Christ returns:

He will defeat the world armies that will gather against Israel ... and....

He will rule the whole world from Jerusalem

      God did not reject Israel/Jews

It is the Gentile believers (wild olives) that were grafted into the natural Jews (cultivated olive) by receiving salvation in Christ, the Messiah who came through the Jewish lineage of King David.

    6. Tithing is an act of worship, just like our service to him, studying the word, our genuine praise and worship, not just because we expect something from him.

I am a member of rebirth and SL said yesterday.

She said serving God is not only by prayer and fasting, we always expect this and that from God but what are you giving to him?

      Asides our measly 10 percent,

True worship is almost always expressed by actions and usually involves some sort of sacrifice.

Each time you give to the less privileged in the society, you are giving to God.

Tithing is a command from God, obey it first, if the pastors don't use it for orphans/needy/widow, they will answer to God.

I don't understand why Christians pay tithe and begin to obsess about what the money is used for

      I am 11:59.
I pay tithes but not to my pastor.
My reason, he does not give it to the widows, orphans, strangers and missionaries.
God said clearly that it is when we have given it to these set of people that we should
pray for and expect his blessings. Deut. 26:12-15

    5. Deut. 26:12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied. 13 THEN SAY TO THE LORD your God: “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them. 14I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the Lord my God; I have done everything you commanded me. 15Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling place, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

  8. Jesus said that believers should pay tithes, in Matt. 23:23
2“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have
neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.
You should have practiced the latter, WITHOUT NEGLECTING THE FORMER.
24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

    But the tithes should be given to the;
    widows,
    orphans,
    stranger, and
those who work in the gospel
without means of livelihood. Deut. 14:28-29 🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️

Read this and ask yourself why some politicians and "pastors" die suddenly:

Exodus 22:22 You must not mistreat any widow or orphan.
23 If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to Me in distress,
I will surely hear their cry. 24My anger will be kindled, and
I will kill you with the sword; then your wives will become widows and your children will be fatherless.…

Can you answer the question now? 🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️

Answer: Do the orphans pray to the Lord.
And, when those ladies die suddenly, does anyone ever relate
      it to her deeds?

  9. I do agree. Paying of tithe is not a guarantee to heaven. Why these pastors do not emphasize on Christ's death and resurrection shows there's much to their tithe preaching than they are saying

  13. What do you say? No matter what other people say, do what you know is the truth, what works for you. I was divorced, broken and a nobody. Through tithing and kingdom investments, i got to a very very good place. Each life challenge i have, i remind God of my tithes and investments in HIS house, the challenge becomes a story. No body can make me to stop tithing. It is the major weapon i use to fight life challenges. Thank you.

    1. Thank you dear. Tithe is a weapon of war you used in fighting physical and spiritual but people's hearts have been seered with hot iron by these pastors.

Allow those that pay tithes pay. If you dont pay, dont force it on others. It is a sin when you make people do what they dont want to do.

Tithe is not only financial wealth, all others things are included.

I pay and will continue to pay until my last breathe. I know the battles God Almighty has fought for me.n

  16. All this hammering on tithe and what not is because the tithe is being paid in cash na ein everybody they shine eyes. In the old testament the tithe came from their harvest, not necessary money, imagine if we were still paying tithe with the the fattest of our farm produce or with oxen and sheep's like they did in the old testament would pastors really still care about this tithe and hammer on it like they do, they will just be seeing 50 fat goats,80 sheeps and 20 tubers of yam every month on their doorsteps

  20. Whether or not a Pastor agrees with tithe paying, this is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. As a believer, what is the Holy Spirit telling you about paying of tithe? I pay my tithe regularly and I do it because the Holy Spirit testifies with my spirit that it is the right thing to do. I was listening to Apostle Selman last month, I do not even attend this man's ministry and I am not based in Nigeria. The title of the message on Youtube is, "Understanding Tithing and Seed Sowing". While listening, I felt a nudge in spirit to donate $200 to their ministry. I wanted to reduce it to $100 but I heard again $200, I don't know what the conversation rate is now but I know that is not an unreasonable amount in naira. Anyway, I obeyed and in less than 24 hours, I was headhunted for a job. I was not seeking a job, I was comfortably staying home enjoying my mild summer class load as a graduate student. This job I was headhunted for came with a monthly pay of $4,400. Weeks later, i got scholarships from school including a fellowship that comes with a stipend. Please tell me, who said tithing and seed sowing is not important. As for me and my house, we will continue to show our reverence to God by tithing and sowing and walking in partnership with the Holy Spirit. Make your choice!

  21. Tithing should be a voluntary act and not done under compulsion.

  22. I think by the comments we can deduce that the problem people have with tithing is how it is put to use and maybe the label.
God created us to worship him in all areas of our lives.
A way to worship him is by involving God in our finances which is a deep expression of our commitment to him.
The Blessings are a by product of our giving, but we give because we honor and acknowledge that He gives us the strength to acquire wealth in the first place.

As Christians we can take a cue from the old testament and decide to dedicate a tenth of our increase to God. There is nothing wrong with giving God 50% or more as led by the spirit of God. Bottom Line is, the amount should be between you and God and done willingly.

As Christians, it is critical to give to the widows, orphans etc. But we have to give to the church also.
If we don’t give to churches, who will? And how will the gospel be preached to the ends of the earth.
I partner with different ministries that propagate the gospel of Christ all across the globe because I cant reach those places personally.

As the body of Christ, rather than stop giving to the church, it is our responsibility to identify the churches that put the funds to the right use. It is not enough to give your offerings (sweat) to just any church and move on, we should be concerned about how these funds are utilized since we are all heirs of God’s kingdom.

Lets not be quick to isolate ourselves from the churches, we are all one body and have to stand together even if there are bad eggs. Lets not leave this gospel work to just the pastors. The Church is marching on and the gates of hell will not prevail against the church.

  23. Sorry I was in church that day ,he did not say it has expired,he said it's now sacrifice which is more than tithing as seen in Corinthians.dont put words in pastor Sam's mouth

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jesus replaced tithe with something more sacrificial in Luke 21:1-4. People don’t understand that this is more demanding than any 10 percent but the difference is that this is done with LOVE not force. When you focus on drawing people into a deeper, intimate and covenantal relationship with their Lord, sacrificial giving becomes easy and flows from a heart full of gratitude and love
