This is a good example of ''it is better to die for something than to die for nothing''....
Nigeria offers its Doctors nothing and in these coronavirus times, things are hard and the Doctors are on strike and asking for better treatment.............
The UK's new migration visa looks like a better option for them.....
Nigerian government wake up and act before you wake up to see hospitals without doctors!!!

Please tell them. My concern is that the poor masses always suffer most
ReplyDeleteNawa o
DeleteNigeria has not done well by our medical workers. Do you know how painful it is to see the pain in the eyes of a man who is unable to meet his family's need? I fail to understand how a person who spent years in medical school, housemanship etc and after graduation, have to beg to be paid his/her salaries and allowances.
DeleteAlso, the older doctors who are in charge of administration have not helped matters at all. I watched Dr. Chris Ngige the other day on TV talking about the Doctor's strike and he sounded so offhanded. Even if Doctors are not the only health workers being owed, is it right to owe any health worker or any government worker for that matter?
The doctors, their wives, family members bear the brunt of this ill treatment and yes, I will happily support any doctor who wants to leave for better opportunities outside the shores of this country.
Some day, we will get it right but till then, dear medical worker, Nigeria aint worth it. leave now while you can.
This is scary o.
DeleteAbeg I wan go too.
The same Nigige said months ago that doctors are free to leave Nigeria if they want because Nigeria has more than enough doctors. Well, we shall see about that. What a shame.
DeleteStella they won't wake up..We have wicked leaders whose heart has been seared..Do you know Doctors went on 3 days warning strike due to non payment of salaries even in this Covid times.
ReplyDeletethe govt will do nothing, rather,Ngige will come and say we have more than enough doctors.
DeleteIt's our naira that is one of our problems. If it was at par with the UK pounds, aside better living conditions, most people won't relocate.
ReplyDeleteNaira was once at par with UK pounds, when I was in form 3 exchange rate was 1-1
Delete14:34 if Naira was at par with Pounds Sterling, DO YOU HONESTLY THINK Nigerian Government will not owe doctors and other government employees the peanuts they call salaries❓❓❓
DeletePlease they should migrate, the government don't treat them well
ReplyDeletethats true, lets continue with brain drain.
ReplyDeleteDoctors please leave if you can o, please leave.
ReplyDeleteMy Sister was processing her visa before the lockdown. Make I tell am make she join the next batch...this country is not worth dying for.
ReplyDeleteπππ
DeleteWhen two elephants fights the grass suffers...
ReplyDeleteAt the end it's the masses that will pay the huge price...
Unfortunately, your leaders are old and close to their graves.
DeleteThey have lived their lives, 'selfishly' taking over the lives of the youths, holding onto power/leadership due to the youths and deciding their future which they (old corrupt leaders) won't be there to witness. πππ
Leaders that are still sleeping, not ready to wake up talk more of to see the needs of it's citizens
ReplyDeleteI dont blame the doctors. If i was one, would jump at the offer.
ReplyDeleteAnd to respond to the post,Nigerian government will learn nothing.
Will i say i blame them ?shebi we are all here together now. One day a Governor, Minister, Senator or dere family will need a neurologist, need a cardiologist, need a OBGYN and they find out all the best specialist we have are all out of d country. There are some states as it is dont even have a single Neuro-surgeon, wat happens if a ministers son as an accident, has a brain bleed and dey need a neuro-surgeon ASAP. Do they think dey will have enuf time to charter a flight?
ReplyDeleteThis leaders think dey are doing d poor masses, believing dey have d money. But tis corona has thought them small sense but not enuf.
i have 2 family members dat are in medicine and both are not in d country. Why? d health care system here fraustrated dem.
Coro never teach them sense cos they are so stuck on their wicked ways
DeleteIf minister sef get accident, na die he go die. Before Dem chatter plane to carry am go, go don die because nobody dey to treat am lol
DeleteOur national budget is 28 billion dollars. The annual budget of America is above 1.6 trillion dollars. In the UK and France it is over 650-800 billion dollars. How on earth are we going to compete with these nations. Our Education is heavily subsidized compared to thsese nations. In America , UK and France people pay student loans decades after school. No plane is coming to pick our doctors , that is a lie. There was one attempt that was blocked by immigration.
DeleteAny doctor that wants to leave should go, there tens of thousands of doctors that are unemployed, some working in private hospitals where they are not well paid. Nobody should be allowed to hold us hostage. Yes, government can do better by increasing their salaries and allowances but untill we start seeing hospitals as a business venture and the rich start investing in it, the pay will always be poor.
After corona virus when UK hospitals no longer need the services of those who leave to day, what happens. Doctors have been leaving Nigeria since the late 1980s
Alexander
Unfortunately, the problem is leaders without vision. Something about African leaders. Thank goodness some are awake and doing the right thing, I won't bother naming those countries. But the vast majority of Africa leaders lack vision and real leadership, compassion or care for the people they serve as a collective. I would have to say they loved the poverty and kept their nations poor and uneducated for their own selfish reasons.
DeleteIsn't there an ongoing rumour right now that the sitting president of Nigeria is suffering from dementia, if this rumour is true the right thing to do would be for him to step down and the vice president take over. But personal power and greed is greater than the needs of the citizens. Such is the way of governance in Africa, the people come last.
Lmao. Alexander hahahahahahahahahahaha.
DeleteDid anyone hold Nigeria hostage?. People are leaving on their own like Ngoge said. Just wave them bye abeg.
Business venture ko business venture ni.
Go and price the fee for admission at reddington and co. Can a poor man afford it???. All the big expensive labs in Nigeria, who owns them?. Na even expatriates that own most of em sef
The government still has a major role to play. Build good hospitals world standard. Subsidize it with NHIS. But no, the NHIS boss is busy stealing billions left right and center .
Yes, people will invest in health, as they are investing already. The question is, can an average Nigerian access it with going bankrupt???.
16:53 thank you for the sound response to Alexander! πππππ
DeleteAlexander, WHICH PRIVATE HOSPITALS DID YOUR LEADERS GO TO IN THEIR YOUTH?
Don't you see what our educational system has become because people like thought Government shirking their responsibilities was okay just so the private sector could take over.
DON'T YOU SEE THE YOUTHS OF YOUR COUNTRY HAWKING ON THE STREETS instead of being in school❓
How many of these your leaders attended private schools, accessed Medicare from private hospitals or had parents who could afford the tuition that today's parents pay in private schools wayback before they became public treasury looters ❓❓
What ENABLING ENVIRONMENT has your government provided to attract private sector investments❓❓❓
If government/leaders CANNOT carry out their responsibilities to their citizens/country, WHAT IS THE USE/NEED HAVING A GOVERNMENT AT ALL❓❗
Alexander you disappoint me. So the educational standards of USA and Nigeria are same? U want us to pay the same 10,000 dols and above for roach invested, smelly dilapidated buildings? God will judge all of you
DeleteWill i say i blame them ?shebi we are all here together now. It is only God that will safe us from the hands of our heartless leaders (polithieves). At the end of the day they have the money to fly themselves Γ nd families overseas for treatment, na we the poor masses go suffer am.
ReplyDeleteAnd some funny people will come and say they should stay in Nigeria and work for peanuts cause their school fees was subsidized. If you are a doctor and you see this opportunity (47m per annum) biko pack your bags and go to UK, except you like to suffer.
ReplyDeleteSo they not coming with slave ships anymore, now they coming with visa offers and chartered plane. It's the same damn thing like they did 500years ago. Take the best and go use them to build their empires and Africa gets short changed and way behind in development. Have the same UK government discussed reparations for what they did to African people in the past? Let who have eyes see and understand what they are doing, that it is just a repeat of the past. Don't accept their offers. Lobby and pressure your government for better care and improvement in your industry, serve your own nation. Be kings and queens in your own nation than second class citizens in another. They coming for you to thrust on Covid 19 frontline while their white doctors will be spared, fck them and their Trojan horse gift.
ReplyDeleteNigerian government please start taking care of your people. Nobody has to be poor in Nigeria, stop letting greed and corruption destroy your nation! Take care of your doctors and health professionals and pay them a wage in line with international standards. Stop doing the nasty things you have been doing for decades. Imagine your nation could have been the first black superpower nation, but not one leader had a vision for greatness. Even nations with less resources are much further along in development than you, heck, you even embarrassing your damn selves by taking loans from them. Have a vision, develop a mindset of creating your own instead of buying from others. Have a mindset of developing, put your great minds to work, develop think tanks and pay for innovation, stop looking outside, look within. Everything needed to develop and advance Nigeria is already Nigerian. Lure the great minds to come back home, call in back your engineers, architects, doctors, teachers, professors, nurses, It, and other professionals who are building up other nations, call them back home, offer them good incentives for returning and build up the nation together.
15:16 πππ....but...WHAT TRIBALISM, RELIGION and CORRUPTION HAVE PUT ASUNDER, NO SOUND VISION CAN JOIN TOGETHER.
DeleteJust saying , Nigerians and their leaders have jumped off the cliff.
God na your hand we Dey πππ
ReplyDeleteWhen they are not paying them well, who wont grab a better offer
ReplyDeleteDoctors life matter o
ReplyDeleteThey should free dem to go abeg
We all want better life for our family.

π€£π€£π€£ You echoed my thoughts @We go dey enter Bush pluck leaves for treatment since our government no value dem.
DeleteHerbal medicine to the rescue.
πππ
DeleteLaslas they go scatter Nigeria so we all can start again.
ReplyDeleteMazi tweeting fake news. UK will bring doctors from Nigeria with no medical licence to practice in the UK? You are having a laff. They will never try it or the NHS wi lose everything in a class acrion in court. Allowing a doctor frim a third world country to work in NHS as doctor with no UK medical licence. Lies.
ReplyDeleteIts not a fake news anon. Many people already passed their qualifying exams(plab1 and plab2) and got job offers. However, they couldn't move because of the ban on international travel. They were the ones charter planes were sent for.Don't be too quick to call people liars.
DeleteCoronavirus is supposed to be a wake up call for our leaders but absolutely nothing have been done about the Health Sector...
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame...
Very good. I wish I have a family in the medical field who wishes to travel I will personally sponsor the person outta of this God forsaken country . When useless minister ngige was busy making mouth that any doctor who wishes to leave the country is free that Nigeria have enough doctors... Just look at now.. awon dindirin set of people.. just look at the level of loot under buhari government. He decieved Nigeria with the mantra of fighting corruption.. you wonder why other countries treat us like trash? Well look no further, it's not even about yahoo boys cus oyinbo know say Nigerians dey learn work for cyber crimes,, our leaders and their stealing. They buy houses and properties abroad under fake names and family names, they don't know that oyinbo know all the actual real owners, they just choose to keep quiet cus we re boasting the economy for them...
ReplyDeleteAnon I want to travel,,let me be your family member naw
DeleteI’m not a doctor and I’m getting the fudge out of this country next month.
