Some may experience swellings and itch all over, while others may have to deal with nausea and rashes all over .....
The first time I noticed I had drug allergies was when I visited the medical center in school and part of the drugs administered were antibiotics (the type that makes one's urine smell).
I went home and each time I took them, I would throw up everything I had eaten. It was so bad because other drugs taken alongside the antibiotics were vomited and I was not getting better.
I returned to the medical center and the doctor on duty advised me to take that particular medication 15 minutes before eating.
Another time, I was so sick with malaria and the anti-malarial drugs prescribed had no effect, so the medical personnel opted for chloroquine.
To say I was in severe discomfort is putting it lightly. Every part of me was itching terribly, down to my palms and I resorted to scratching my palms on the wall and it took days before the effect wore off.
Some people have it clearly stated in their medical files that certain drugs should not be given to them. I've read a story where a patient went into shock after a doctor who did not check the patient's file administered a drug that should not have been and it took days and urgent medical intervention before the patient was revived.
Some people react to contraceptives and put on a lot of weight and have this bloated look, while others show no signs of a reaction....
It is very important for ne to know the types of medications that are harmful to their health......No be every medicine dey heal person, dem dey cause more wahala.
Contraceptives make me bloated.
ReplyDeleteThere was a drug I was given after I had an accident that made me eat a lot.
Same here,The excess weight gain that comes with some contraceptives is nothing to write home about
DeletePart of the reason I don't wanna go on any contraceptive. I hate being fat, it makes me very lazy like I can't even carry myself
DeleteI have to go anonymous on this one. I don't know what else we can do. My wife reacts badly to contraceptives by gaining weight and increasing her blood pressure. Looking for an alternative at the moment. I can't even gbensh with ease because we don't want any more children 🤦🏿♂️
DeleteOga go to the doctor, there are different contraceptives available. Some don’t make women add weight. Every medication has it’s side effects. Ask the Obgy for more information
DeleteAnon 14:23, I think your best option is you getting a vasectomy as the man of the house. That would make things far easier for your wife and reduce the chances of a new babe drastically. Peace ✌️
DeleteOga use condom or your wife should do test to know the type that suit her system.
DeleteI reacted to a day kit, I nearly died o, it was God that saved me that night. Impatient caused it.
Oga 14:23. In government health centres and hospitals, they give MALE and female family planning devices free. The one for males is an injection taken every 3 months. No side effects. Not permanent. So once u r ready, u stop the injections.
DeleteI tell you, dome react and some doesn't, let me go anon here
ReplyDeleteI was placed on Arv some years ago ,was scared cos most people were complaining that they react badly and had to stop,10 years I haven't had any reaction,I thank God, I recently did organ function test cos I was told the drug can damage organs, and the test came out perfectly fine💃🏻💃🏻, viral load undetected.I bless God, I even tested negative recently but fear no let me stop the drugs
Awww I am happy on your state of health. Please continue your drug..You are healed indeed
DeleteWoooow
DeleteI'm happy for you . Big hug 🤗 ❤ 💖 ♥ 💓 💕
Thank God for you 🤗🤗🤗
Wow,this is a good news.May your testimony be permanent in God's name 😍
DeleteAwwww...🤗🤗🤗🤗
DeletePlease do not stop your medication. That the virus is u detectable does not mean it isn't there. Continue to stay safe and take all precautions so as to avoid transmitting or being reinfected. 🤗
DeletePlease keep taking your drugs, that's why you are healthy. If you stop, your viral load will start climbing. That mistake has changed/killed many.
DeleteI and my siblings react to chloroquine too, will make sure to tell you before you mistakenly prescribe or inject me with it.
ReplyDeleteI react to it too, mine do last for days...
DeleteChloroquine doesn't itch me but it make me so tired and very very weak
DeleteMe I thought I was a perfect human..I couldn't react to anything until I was given d malaria drug ARTSUNATE!!!!!
DeleteMy testimony shall be permanent amen.
Oral contraceptives has fluid retention/weight gain as one of its side effects. It can also give nausea and vomiting initially. There are others that are worse; e.g.
ReplyDeletehypertension
blood coagulation leading to "stroke"
Diabetes
cancers, especially breasts/uterus (this is controversial and well contended)
etc.
Because of that weight gain, it can give everything obesity can give and more.
You can use google and study more.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth 😦😦😦
DeleteAnd note that oral contraceptive, depo provera (the one they put under the skin that lasts for months),
Deleteand injectables are all triplets -same contents.
Just some "expo" (use google confirm before you write the answer)🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️
Yes O, my neighbour has high blood pressure due to contraceptives, she begged me not to take any
DeleteStella I can't take any sulphur based drugs; not even in my hair products
ReplyDeletesee my group member
DeleteMe too ...
How about people that need some of these drugs to survive. I suffer from serious migraine headaches for years now and was placed on Amitriptyline. This medication was working perfectly for years. But all of a sudden i started putting on weight due to side effect of the medication. I went from size 10 to 14. It is a known side effect. I try to eat healthy, i excercise abit and i have just stayed on the 14. But being slim before it can be depressing.
ReplyDeleteI met a guy of late who will tell me im pretty in the face(im aware of that) but insults me with my weight. That how will i be when i put to bed when im already this big. I have cut him off.
I dont like discussing my health issues with people but the fat shaming even at a size 14 is annoying even from family.
I have tried all other drugs. They are either not effective or make me itch. Seen various neuros, even outside the country. My next step is to take a 1nce monthly injection which isnt even available in Nigeria but its about N200k.
Doctors in the house. Any advice ?
Wow. Thank God you cut him off. Body shaming someone is a NO NO. And you're a size 14, that's no fat o. Sorry about the migraine. Sending you hugs🤗🤗🤗🤗.
DeleteI was once placed on this medication along side my other meds that had steroid.... in months I went from size 4 to size 10 😱😱😱
DeleteI was really ill and I basically was on steroid for a period of time , everyone just kept telling me how FAT I had become .
I'm actually trying to shed some weight even though my dr says I'm not overweight.
@choclate the drug is horrible and hard to come off, i reduced taking 50mg now i take 5mg just to shed weight. i now take 5mg only. All alternative drugs give me issues. but i need smtn for my migraines.
DeleteI was placed on this drug 5 years ago. I stopped after a year plus. Thank God I don't have that head shaking headaches again.
DeleteI react to Chloroquine. The itch is something else. When I took that, I always had a comb with me to help relieve the itch.
ReplyDeleteI also react to it,i wonder why some people don't
DeleteI can't remember a drug i took that I was shivering for hours.
ReplyDeleteI remember when a certain anti malaria drug was given to me can't remember the name sef. My eyes was so red as if i was punched and my vision was blurry for like 3days .
ReplyDeleteSomeone took septrin abi chloroquine, omo the person skin got burnt like a toast bread..
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic to septrin too .I swell like a ball so o don't risk it.
DeleteI'm allergic to certain medications and it's clearly stated in my hospital record , matter of fact I've a written document from my Dr just incase I'm somewhere else and I need urgent medical attention.
ReplyDeleteThere was a pain relief medication i took one time and I had a big green patch on my hand .
I'm allergic to sulphur as well and alot, I don't ingest antibiotics only in rare situations.
I'm also allergic to quinine ive had a tingling sound in my ears from quinine , I'm hyper allergic I cannot even list it all.
My dad is too, he was once administered aspirin without the Dr's knowledge of his allergies and he had severe burns in less than an hour , it was quite frightful.
People that haven't ever been to the hospital don't know how blessed they are .
Omg😱
DeleteChico pls I was placed on this amitriptyline for my post natal anxiety, but I am so scared to take it now.is there any natural route u can advise me to take?or any drug that doesn't add weight?
Delete@anon it would make you put on weight if its a long term use ,
DeleteBut you could take very reduced dose like 5mg it might not have any effect .
I only put on weight cos I was on it and other steroids for over 7 months last year .
Mine birth control, chloroquine, and septrin. BC bloats me, chloroquine itches me and septrin makes my skin start peeling like I have wounds.
ReplyDeleteI have a bad experience with chloroquine.. I've lived with the scars since I was 3months,now I don't cover my body like I used to cause its obvious I'll live with it for life. I used to be ashamed of opening my body when 'people' are around me but now na me open body pass.. I just discovered I'm reacting to a particular food and it breaks my heart cause I can't stop eating the food.
ReplyDeleteI avoid a whole lot of foods cause of allergies, people always ask how I survive without eating major foods but I thank God for life.
Awwww, sending you hugs Anonymous 12:43.
DeleteMy daughter reacts to septrin while I reacts to chloroquine terribly.
I react to chloroquine and Amoxicillin. While the former makes me scratch any wet surface on my body, the latter gives me a dry and itchy vagina.
ReplyDeleteI have learnt something new
ReplyDeleteI react to chloroquine. Scratching my body
ReplyDeleteThe only drug I react to is Chloroquine and contraceptives, went from size 10 to 12.
ReplyDeleteMy own allergy is anti biotics, the thing do me shege from eczema reaction to change in tooth colour after I finish taking it, I have to look for solutions to face the after effect, how I wish malaria and typhoid will let me enjoy my life peaceful but its a lie.
ReplyDeleteUse net
DeleteI react to septrin and antibiotics like augumentin. Whenever I find myself in the hospital, its the first thing I tell my doctor.
ReplyDeleteI react to ibuprofen, diclofenac, one type of strepsols. It took me a while to understand what makes me have hives on my face, then I realized it came from some drugs. There was a time the swelling just came without me even taking a drugs. I don tire.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's caffeine. Didn't know Panadol extra had caffeine. I took it and started sweating profusely with an accelerated heart beat... Almost had a heart attack.
ReplyDeleteLikewise me. I don't take Panadol extra. If I do, I would be shaking like leaves and it makes me so hungry...
DeleteFlagyl gives me serious yeast infection.
ReplyDeleteMy own Chloroquine reaction is advanced o. plus that's the only drug that can clearly remove Malaria from my system for up to 18months or 2yrs+. It itches for up to 3days effectively then starts to wear off on the 4th day.sensitive areas like the anus and armpits are not left out. If i take a bath it becomes worse...I detest the drug but what will the righteous do?
ReplyDeleteThe righteous should pray.
DeleteI react to metformin. I get fat.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you taking metformin? I thought it helps one lose weight?
DeleteMine is oral contraceptive,it gives me a very bad nagging headache. Chloroquine makes me itch too.
ReplyDeleteI have never had reaction to any drugs, and am not allergic to anything foods or medications. I can also endure pain very well, I think am lucky. I remember when I undergoes HSG test, despite the pain I was still calm to the extend the doctors were commending me for my tolerance, they were happy I didnt give them tough time during the process like some people do.
ReplyDeleteThis is me for the past few days. I received tetanus shot for the 2nd time and I’m currently down. I was told it’s normal for pregnant mothers. The first time I took it, I had fever and loss of appetite. Now,I’m down with severe flu, Headache, joint pains, fever and cold. It’s so inconveniencing. Can’t sleep well at night, like I’m going out of breath because of blocked nose. Hopefully the bag of medication I have been given will help relieve me from today.
ReplyDeleteAlways take paracetamol after taking TT shots and you would feel better.
DeleteAll the symptoms are corona symptoms shah..
DeleteSafe delivery
Appreciate Nezz, I start doing that.
DeleteMao, are you serious?
Gosh I am scared I find myself once in a while gisting my colleagues about my in-laws and how they are wrongly treating me. I am scared I know that one day it will come back to me I really want to stop talk discussing about my marriage with strangers God how do I do it. God am I a bad person
ReplyDeleteIts better you look for a far and reliable friend on whatsapp that can always console and encourage you. Its better than sharing with your colleagues that might use it against you in future.I have two persons I chose to always pour my heart on whatsapp.
DeleteWhenever you are with them, put water in your mouth.
DeleteCan i add weight on propranolol?doctors in the house pls answer me.
ReplyDeleteI react to chloroquine
ReplyDeleteI react to chloroquine
ReplyDeleteI react to chloroquine too. I remember taking it while in secondary school, I was scratching like a mad person and seniors were saying I had scabies. Not funny, I was using scrubbing brush to scratch the itches. I am currently on depo family planning (3months injection) and I have added weight and didn't see my period for a month now.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any allergies..food or drugs.
ReplyDeleteI rarely take medicines too, I treat malaria once every year.
