Lebanese Ambassador Walks Out Of Meeting With Nigeria’s House Of Reps Members

The Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, M Houssam Diab, on Thursday, walked out on members of the Nigerian House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs.

Mr. Diab was summoned by the House Committee to explain the alleged maltreatment of the West African nation in Lebanon.

This followed a recent incident involving one Temitope Arowolo, who is undergoing trial for alleged attempted murder in the country.

Diab walked out of the lawmaker because he was not impressed with the presence of the media at the venue when the meeting commenced.

Chairman of the House Committee, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, told reporters that she was shocked that the “Ambassador will just get up and walk out on us.”

She said that Diab honoured the invitation as a mark of respect for the country but “was not expecting the media because he was unaware the House records all its meetings.”

The Committee had earlier said that the Lebanese Government should be held responsible for the violation of Mrs. Ariwolo’s human rights.

Sadipe said the Lebanese Government must be held responsible for the violation of Temitope’s rights which was in violation of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UDHR.

    2. The House of Rep Members have no business summoning him. His business is with the ministry of foreign affairs. They are dabbing into the territory of the executive. They are even lucky that the Chinese rep honoured their invitation. Guess it's gotten into their heads

    3. The military should just take over and stop these jokesters making not only themselves hungry but trying to pull Nigeria down. These bunch of hungry illiterates only interest is to make themselves look more hungry on tv and Nigeria doesn’t have the capability to keep paying their salary with the economic situation in the country. The price of oil which is our main source of revenue is nothing to write home about and is right time we survive our excesses paying these idiots before the state of the country get worse

I pray Nigeria will get to the point where stomach Infrastructure will no longer allow us to respect all these politicians but their good works in their communities. When you people won't respect yourselves , Ghana will disrespect, Lebanon don join also disrespect you. Nigeria is just like a toothless bull dog. People are watching, people are seeing us..

    2. @Survivor, there is a saying that 'you first chase away the fly before treating the sore' (can't say it better than this), even if our lawmakers are not as honourable as you said, does that mean we should allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to disrespect the position being held?

  18. These Honourablea that are not honourable. They just like to summon everything and everybody without regards to diplomatic processes.
I expect that they should have allowed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and (or) the Diaspora Commission to engage the foreign embassies/nations and they can then invite the Minister to brief then but no they like to show themselves and overreach their powers most times.
Hope they wont summon the President of another country one day. Clowns in the legislature

  20. And we are being denied visas on a daily. Imagine Dubai issuing a statement the other day that citizens from other nationalities can apply for a certain vacancy except Nigerians. Better to be a cat in America than a Nigerian cos even a cat in America has better chance of life than a human here.

  22. All we need to do is retaliate. that's all. Nigerians are too forgiving and we are so quick to down each other. If an american commits a crime in another country, the criminal will be supported. There are fraudsters and gang members in america.

We are our own problems. We bring each other down. Americans support America, they fly their flags. Same with Ghana. Looks at Nigerians oh here. If Dubai says no Nigerians, then Nigeria should also not let those people come her.

We go abroad, they treat us bad. In Nigeria too they come here and treat us bad. We favor the white guy more than our fellow Nigerian. Fraudulent asians on the island, treating our people like sh*t

Wake up! put your country first. Lets build each other and build our brands.
I am proudly Nigerian. That will not change
