The statement, signed by House spokesperson, Honourable Benjamin Kalu, accused Akpabio of trying to distract Nigerians by raising 'spurious allegations' against members of the National Assembly to damage the investigation into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Kalu said the letter Akpabio wrote to House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila last week exonerated the current Ninth House of Reps, but failed to address the lawmakers' ultimatum for him to publish the names of beneficiaries.
"Nigerians are encouraged to ignore the deflections of the Honourable Minister and continue to ask the right questions as to what happened to the money of the region which has led to a gross disservice to Niger-Deltans.
"Nigerians should start asking the right questions and demanding the right answers; and the right question remains, 'What happened to Nigeria's N81.5billion under the charge of NDDC in the space of 6 months?'"
The House said the minister should stop spinning tales and publicly publish the names of lawmakers who received NDDC contracts.
