A statement by the group’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to probe the activities of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs under Akpabio’s leadership.
According to HURIWA: “We are calling on the EFCC to carry out a proper investigation on NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS Minister, Godswill Akpabio and we demand his immediate sack, except and unless Mr President does not care about the people of Niger Delta.
“Since Godswill Akpabio came to power, there has been one accusation of fraud/corruption or the other.
In NDDC alone, three months ago, 80 billion Naira disappeared allegedly into thin air.
“HURIWA is not accusing him of being the thief but the story of corruption around him is becoming unbecoming as if he is the only minister in Nigeria.
“Another worrisome reason is the sexual harassment allegation made against him by the immediate past MD of NDDC, JOY NUNIEH.
“HURIWA is canvassing the sack of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio and the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission, so they can be arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for comprehensive investigations and prosecutions if found to have a prime facie case to answer which the competent court of law should be called upon to adjudicate but the minister and the NDDC management should be dismissed forthwith.”
Nunieh, the sacked Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, had accused Akpabio of fraudulent practices.
Reacting, Akpabio claimed that the former NDDC boss had a character problem.

DeleteEfcc the looter will still detain, investigate and prosecute their fellow looter? This country has really been sold by politicians. Billion billion billion, yet no access to good food, roads and health care.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, Nigeria should be sold to other countries. Me am tired of this country.
DeleteGodswill Akpabio is a known criminal and should be locked in prison unfortunately he ran to Apc to avoid any prosecution and all his sins were washed away. Buhari will be surprised to hear this
ReplyDeleteBuhari surprise? As if he never knew that Akpabio has been corrupt loooong time ago. Just join APC & ur sins are forgiven, so said disgraced Oshiomole.
DeleteEveryone remembers Akpabio running to the UK under the guise that he had an accident just after Buhari became president. Some said he went to hide from prosecution, others said he might have gone to launder the money there. Buhari despite the allegations still went ahead to appoint him minister as soon as he (Akpabio)switched from PDP to APC. The question is did he return the money he was alleged to have stolen as Governor quietly to EFCC and was forgiven or Buhari in his selective prosecuting mode allowed him to be and now we have a klepto who can never stop stealing. Whichever case it's now a question of how much money does one man need to be satisfied.
DeleteApc will soon use Akpabio as Salah ram.
ReplyDeleteYou can't just sack Sen Akpabio like that. A panel will have to be set up to probe the allegations against him; and if he's found guilty, then he will be sacked by the President.
ReplyDeleteSo he should remain in office while hes being probed??? Fa, fa, fa, fowl!!!! He should at least be sent on suspension like Magu. Leaving him in office while being probed will compromise the investigation becos a man like Akpabio will never fold his hands and watch his atrocities be exposed.
Delete@soul child I agree. He can be suspended while investigation proceeds.
DeleteHe is not going to sack him. Buhari is not in charge. Those that tapped Akpabio to enter APC are his pay masters and have not finished using him to swindle money out of NDDC. If only bubu was incharge...
ReplyDeleteDon't be surprised Buhari has not even heard or read the story of Akpabio and the NDDC saga. That's the state of the Nation right now
ReplyDeleteThese allegations are becoming hot.We await more
ReplyDeleteIf this was a decent society he would have resigned.
