The Senate on Thursday being 23rd July, 2020 rekindled the hopes of Npower Beneficiaries when they met with them and told them ( batches A & B ) that none of them will be thrown out of the programme without comprehensive enhancement scheme in place.
While addressing Npower beneficiaries, the senate President who was represented by Senator Onor Sandy Ojang ( Representing Cross River Central ) said, he empathised with the beneficiaries for the precarious conditions such as non prompt payment of stipends, backlog of payments and the news of disengagement amid covid-19 pandemic that they have subjected to.
Senator Onor appreciated the beneficiaries for the civilised way they conducted themselves while pressing home their demand. Senator Onor Sandy Ogang Speaking On Behalf Of Lawmakers He added, “we have read all the inscriptions you are carrying, arising from your prayers therefore, I can assure you on behalf of Nigerian Lawmakers that all your demands especially the issue of “permanency” would be meant with immediate effect. Youths are the live wire of any Nation and Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari cannot do otherwise but ensure that Nigerian youths are given the desire respect and dignity they deserve”. ”
I am a professor and I know what it takes to be a graduate; hence, let me say that I personally feel embarrassed and ashamed why youths earning a stipend of N30,000 working in Primary Schools, serving as an extension workers, Health Officers and ICT officers will be disengaged from their means of livelihood without alternative jobs or promoted to “enhancement stage” as earlier promised by the government . As Lawmakers, we will follow due process to make sure that you are given a permanent job”, Senator Onor Added. Earlier, the National President of Npower beneficiaries, Comrade Pelumi Aliyu said, “it is unfortunate that enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari who are against his laudable initiative of Npower are using Media to lie and promote propaganda against the ever committed, grateful and faithful Beneficiaries which he stressed now lead to stager payments and backlogs of many months”. ”
He noted that, “during 2019 election, stakeholders of Npower to include Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Mr Afolabi, Minister Audu Ogbeh among others have said that, a vote for President Muhammadu Buhari, guaranteed permanency. He however lamented that since Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq took over the programme, it has been tension in the air as her coming has not elevated beneficiaries in any way rather championing the campaign of disengagement. While thanking the Senate representative for giving them listening ears, he also saluted his colleagues who have traveled from across the 36 states of the Federation to be at NASS headquarters Abuja.
The beneficiaries further protested across major streets in Abuja including the federal Secretariat and the office of Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq who pretended not to be in the office while the presence of her official car suggested she was in the office…
Protesting for Npower! Nigerians no well like their leaders.
ReplyDeleteThey should retain them na
ReplyDeleteThat minister should be the most
ReplyDeleteWicked female on planet earth.
It's unfair on npower beniciaries, to disengage them during this period, many of them started this npower job when they were 35 and 4yrs after, you want to disengage them to go and look for job. At this age? It's better they are given permanent jobs.
ReplyDeleteSadiya heartless minister.everything was moving on so well until she came in.
ReplyDeleteThey should be retain
ReplyDeleteMost of them that's their source of live hood.
Either pay them something good to set up their business cause its like going back to being unemployed again after having hope of retention.
Its well with Nigeria.

ReplyDelete#30000 monthly stipend is small na, our leaders should fear God o.
ReplyDeleteWhich way Nigeria π♀️
ReplyDeleteNigeria when wil it ever get better
ReplyDeleteOh dear!
ReplyDeleteBeing realistic it's practically impossible to retain the over 500,000 Npower beneficiaries & give them permanent government appointment. If you retain them, how then will government make room for new beneficiaries? Assuming the government even retains the over 500,000 current beneficiaries, will they also retain subsequent sets?
ReplyDeleteAlso the program was meant to last for 24 months. But alas, Batch A set have spent far more than 24mths.
Hence as regards this issue of permanency, the Humanitarian Affairs Minister Ms Sadiya has done nothing wrong. That is the blunt truth.
Please she has done something wrong, Batch A were promised of permemnency during last year campaign. They were told that their permemnency is tied to Buhari's re-election. This promise was made by this govt.
DeleteYou dont know what you are saying. So after this 24months,they should put them back to the street abi.We have graduates in Npower who are over 35years and have families. So they should start looking for another job abi.Who will employ them?
DeleteAfter their dedication and patience in each sectors, their sweat and pains.
Each state can retain them.Everything is in the hand of federal govt if they want to make it happen
@Cute so you believe whatever the government promises you?ROTFLππ. Nigerian government can promise anything during campaigns just to win an election; but after winning, na O.Y.O.
DeleteEven agreement when government & second party sign, dem dey repudiate am. E come be verbal promise.
With all the money our politician are looting if they are sincere the federal government cab pay batch A and B along with even batch C and D e.t.c .we no really get government officials that have the masses at heart.
ReplyDeleteExactly
DeleteNigeria has the money but the masses are not their concern
Till next election π¦
