A STITCH IN TIME SAVE 9 VERSUS ''IF YOU NO GET MONEY HIDE YOUR FACE''

I always wondered what "a stitch in time saves nine" means...

 I understand it as a proverb which means solve a problem now to avoid it getting worse or simply put do not procrastinate. My confusion actually is what the relationship is between a stitch and a nine, until it hit me that what the saying is about is stitching a hole in your cloth before it becomes a big tear that will require nine stitches. 

Hope I am not getting you guys confused? I try to make meaning of things in a layman's language so as to understand it very well and to be able to relate it to our day to day activities. The above and other proverbs have been passed down from generation to generation and is used to teach people to make wise decisions in life.

Our forefathers used the experience they had coined into a short phrase to teach their young ones not to make similar mistake as them. But in today's world what are we teaching our youths? what proverbs are we leaving behind is it "if you no get money hide your face" not minding how the wealth is gotten. There is a saying that when the stream is polluted from the source the rest will become polluted. Some parents help their children hide their ill gotten money while boosting of how their young child/children has made it early in life forgetting that what you sow you shall reap. 

Then some ignorant parents will indirectly push their children into doing the unthinkable by using the infamous phrase "look at your mates".

In as much as we want the best for our children, let us try to support and nudge them on with love and wise advice.

Do teach your wards right from wrong and pray they never depart from it. Also make sure to practice what you preach so as to avoid giving them mixed signals.
