    1. It is not easy to come out and cry rape. Some men justify their actions by saying she had consented in a previous sexual affairs with them, but it still not a ground to rape her when she refuse to have sex with u. Some feels they have spent enough on the girl, therefore she must pay back. I had an experience 11yrs ago with someone older. I hangout with him, had a few drinks and good laughs, he asked that I come with him to his house which he shared with some other people. My thought was that, at least we will not be alone, so there wont be room for sexual encounter. But I was wrong. He asked that I come into the room and how I agreed is still a surprise to me. Bottomline he asked for sex, I refused, he begged, and tried to force me. I struggled, I begged and cried, he refused. I was determined not to give up my virginity in that way, to a man I am not even interested in and obviously will not have a future with. I cried, I lied that I was HIV positive and needed to take my medication at that time and need to go immediately, he refused, not even scared at all, instead said he will use a condom. I struggled like my life depended on it. He got tired and finally allowed me to open the door. I ran and never looked back. Now we work in the same place and get to see every day. If I talk now, some will say the story didn't add up. Or will ask, what did u go to do in his house. Lemme just leave it jare.

    4. I think that this hashtag is so important, because the legal system is so biased about rape and domestic violence, eventhough women are just a sixth more likely to be the victims of domestic violence (29% of heterosexual men vs. 35% of heterosexual women) and every tenth rape victim is male.

Just because you accuse someone of rape doesn't mean they did it.
One of the most important rule and priciple in Law systems around the world is "In dubio pro reo" so "[when] in doubt, for the accused". As long as you don't have concrete evidence, that you've been raped, like DNA samples from bodily fluids or fingernails, witnesses or recordings from surveillance cameras or the such; there should be no further investigation. Still in some cases there is, mind you, only in cases where a female was the victim.

Uti laughed it off & said that if he forces u, then he loves u. Ladies, pls come with receipts to substantiate ur claims, else people will not believe u. Lord have mercy.

    1. I really don't get the meaning of this one seriously, has any of the accused denied?? Why bring in a different topic entirely to sabotage a movement by victims and others lending voice and surportive hands to them??
Some Nigerians especially their female folks are highly confused and delusional, like wtf is the meaning of that hash tag?? Has anyone came out to debunk or claim being wrongly accused?? Why not Waite till we finish dealing with one or at least, Waite for a person to be wrongly accused first before starting this hash tag??? Damnn, nsogbu di kwanuu oo.

    2. Chisom there was a guy that trended on twitter because he was falsely accused of rape by a girl and she later came out to apologise that it was a mix up and people dragged the hell out of her and told the guy to sue her, that imagine what would have happened to him if she did not realise there was a mix up.
I guess that was what brought about the false rape accusation movement

    3. Chisom people lie too, like a lot, one of the worst feelings is being accused wrongly.

  10. Well said and to me thats why the death penalty for rapist should be reviewed with enough evidence to back up any rape claim, otherwise innocent men might die for false accusations of rape.

i have seen or heard stories of people who stayed in prison for years due to false rape accusations and of recently poco lee and dotun manager somto was wrongly accused of rape(his number was posted as that belonging to a rapist, and who posted the number did not review or confirm the number) by some girls on twitter, it was messy as he wanted to use the law to get them all arrested. But after much pleas from the girls and their families and prominent lawyers he dropped the case.. Now imagine he was lynched or killed before he could clear his name😔

  12. The same treatment that is given to rapist should be given to those that lie that they were raped...... That's the way this rubbish can be curbed!!

Rape is not what you use for clout!!

Anyone that make funny jokes, unfounded statement and lies should be treated the same as the rapist themselves!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Exactly. If you lie you receive same punishment. Now UTI is the latest to be accused.

  14. They should chill abeg.. Trying to get peoples attention away from the matter on ground. A lot of women are broken today because these shameless men some of which are people that are respected today or have a voice couldn't control themselves. They should call them out. Enough abeg. Imagine perruzi old tweets, celebrating being a rapist. Do you know how many girls he has ruined.

Rape victims are going through a lot. If you've never been there you won't understand. The trauma hardly goes away.

  15. I am wondering how possible it is to come out boldly and accuse anyone of rape falsely. Don't shut dem down pls.

She doesn't even know that she has indirectly coursed herself because definitely, she'd be raped in a very brutal way, she doesn't even know what she's brought upon herself.
Thank God the innocent guy was vindicated, and I wish he'd sue her lame ass so as to serve as a warning to her kind, shameless shediot.

    3. People who have mental illness and vindictive people can accuse an innocent person of rape and this takes away from and minimizes legitimate rape claims.

  19. They should leave people to open up please, most people has gone through these but has remained calm due to one reason or the other.it is not easy to bottle things up for years. Do people know what it takes to open up,I find it difficult to believe people will tell their rape story to bring others down.

  20. I agree with this hashtag. There are so many cases where women have made false claims of rape with some even being convicted and jailed for lying. It appears there are more truths than lies statistically.

However I worry about claims made on social media even though sometimes this is the only avenue for a victim to be heard.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We need to be careful o, rape victims should speak up. On the other hand, people should not falsely accuse another of rape biko.

  22. I really love this post..
So many women who agreed on consensual sex will later turn against u nd accuse of rape..
I read a story about a Chelsea star or so,hunde Monroe...I am not sure if DAT name I spelt is correct, but dis said young footballer invited a white girl to his apartment, then after passing d night,d next day d said model lady called d cops nd accuse him of rape...
I am not really dre ,but somesomething is not really right with her accusation.

  23. All these women coming out to say they were raped here and there, why are we not all screaming for the heads of those that raped and killed Uwa? Sorry about your alleged rape experience months or years ago, but right now there's are killers and rapists running around, Uwa spoke immediately, not months later...can we at least help her and her family get justice? Good men, good women, let's not split our efforts or scatter our energies.

All these stories of rape and denials are not what we need now. Let's use this current case to draw the lines, and change the rules. Online accusers, stop already and just report your case or get legal advice and start something solid, that's how u bring about change.

Imagine 15+ officially reported cases now and Uwa's case, that will certainly have practical traction.
