Labour Room Drama 284

Sweet labour room drama eeeh.......

Stellastica, thank you for this platform and thank God almighty for your life and family, SDK is here to stay.

So, I carry belle the 5th month of our marriage. We weren’t trying to conceive those months actually except for the fourth month that we tried but belle no gree enter until the next month.

We discovered our pregnancy on the 5th week. 6th week was great but 7 and 8th weeks had me asking myself ‘na so my life don dey change?’ see, my sense of smell rose by 1000% (okay I exaggerated but it actually rose higher), these two weeks were the most difficult for me. My office became irritating the first few hours of the day due to the smell I always perceived (wait, where was the smell coming from because it stopped after my week 8).

The rest of the journey was beautiful and I worked throughout my journey. At week 39, I went for antenatal, while my doctor was running a scan on me, he asked the scariest question I had been asked about my pregnancy, he asked “madam, what have you been taking to reduce the size of your baby”, I made him repeat the question for 3 times because I didn't understand that one could actually take sometime to reduce baby's size).

Ha! Reduce ke! Me that my tommy was looking like I was just 6 months gone, how will I be taking something to reduce my baby again…is it even possible? I looked at the screen of the scanning machine (please what is that machine called?) and saw I was actually reading 36 weeks. After the scan session, he began to ask question about my feeding…

uncle, since I became pregnant, I no lose appetite, I no get craving, I dey eat normal only be say sometimes take zobo drink with snack, I had taken it for 15 times or so (not consistently), baba said it was the reason my baby reduced in size (wait, Doctors and experienced BVs, how true is this?), wetin him dey weigh now?

He said 2.4, that I should come back the next week for follow up. The next visit was on a Friday, my baby weighed 2.9 according to him, I left and went home jejeje and was expecting my prince.

The following day being Saturday, i woke up to very mild cramp and also pelvic pain. This pelvic pain has been there for few weeks but this particular morning was intense, I had to limp to the rest room. While I got to work, the cramp continued coming and going at 7-10 mins interval and stopped around 12pm (I didn’t know I was in labour, I only took record of the ‘pain’ in case doctor ask)...na pis I say make I go pis wen I saw a dirty discharge, not bloody o…just brownish something like that, na from this moment my instinct started to tell me I was going to deliver that weekend so I tidy up my table and closed (I had agreed with my Boss to work IF I can, till delivery and my leave takes effect from when I am delivered).

I even forgot I felt that way until in the evening when the thing returned…wow, shebi na false labour I dey experience, my water never break and I never see ‘show’ (i thought it's bloody stuff) and according to wetin I don hear and read for SDK LRD segment, labour pain no be child’s play so this one can’t be labour. I brushed it off and went to bed. Na so waist pain go wake me up when sleep don enter my eyes. It will stop once I wake up and come again when sleep carry me. Wo! E b like say this baby no want make I sleep, make I kuku wake up na. I noticed that, that Sunday morning till afternoon, my contraction was coming between 5-6 minutes interval (na now I dey call am contraction, that time, e no do me like say na contraction), it wasn’t a strong one until around 9pm. Na so this thing start to dey come with shorter in between time. It was this time around that I concluded I was in labour.

I had made my husband aware of what I was experiencing but we both never thought it was labour until this 9pm (no blame us, we are first timers), now my contraction was lasting longer than before so we called my doctor, I explained to him and he said we should come. My clinic is 8 mins distance from my house (on foot), we got to the hospital past 10pm because i waited to check and be sure everything was intact in my hospital bag, I was checked and he told me I am indeed experiencing labour pain, I asked how far have I gone and baba said 6.5cm; he asked of my hospital bag and I told him my husband or sister could go get it, he said okay that I should stay behind.

My contraction had gone up now but I was telling myself to be strong because correct pain dey come so make I no even do face anyhow now so that I go get strength to cry and shout when the real pain starts.

After about 30 mins, nurse said she wants to check me, for my mind, no be me wey doctor check that time, make una no con dey chuk chuk hand for my body o. she checked and said I am doing fine, anty how far have I gone, she said 8cm, I was like this one just want to ‘ginger’ me, which kind 8cm wey e never reach 1:30 mins when doctor said I be 6.5cm…by now, my husband and sister had returned with my items, After small time, anty nurse say she wan to check me again, she checked and said I shouldn’t continue to lay on my side, I should lay back down…anty me that can’t raise my leg? She helped and positioned me facing ceiling…the next thing I heard was push when you feel the urge to push. See, at this point, I knew the real pain was coming gradually, I had started saying my waist ooo repeatedly.

At a point I added I want to poo, the nurse said I should poo there…she said I should push that my baby’s head is here, me I don’t know how to push, contraction would come and go, push I no sabi, I started begging God and calling my son’s name to please come, and I kept on saying “I don’t even know how to push, I don’t even know what to do again sef”. When the 4th one came, I knew if I didn’t make use of the opportunity, my baby will most likely be at risk so I kuku use all the power in me and within seconds, my transition happened! I became a Mum!

My little human came weighing 2.7!

Placenta was birthed within a short time and my baby was handed to my sister who was on standby. I had asked DH to get us something from the house, when he returned, security man at the gate was doing 'only God knows what'...when gate was finally opened for him, he came and was allowed in just the moment baby was being handed to my sister. Apparently, he was outside when i birthed our prince. It was such a beautiful journey for me and birthing him was even more beautiful and speedy for a first time mum like myself.

My doctor was amazed at how well I briefed him (Thanks to LRD of SDK). he wasn’t even around when I delivered and was amazed at the speed of my dilation because he said from the time I arrived, he calculated that I would be delivered by 2am so he stepped out to return in few hours but my prince came at 12:08am.

Dearest TTC families, may God almighty give you strength and grant you your innermost desires

  2. Ladies! We need to go back to God and ask for forgiveness of mana Eve's sins, that made God curse us with hard labour before birth. This is how it should be now, not all the drama I've been reading here plus horror stories that will make you squeeze your legs and vow never to get pregnant.

Congratulations hunaay, forgive my ramblings. You're blessed indeed. 💝💝💝

    1. My dear, The Bible says "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us..." Gal 3:13 by taking our place wen He died on the cross he has taken all our curses so we are free from Eve's curse. Now until u know this fact and exercise it and take it tenaciously, the enemy would keep trampling on your rights and enforcing it. If you claim this decree it, meditate on it it would work for u. It worked for me. Believe it or not. You can actually have painless delivery. Download or buy the book "Supernatural Childbirth" for more clarity. Read Isaiah 66:7-14 as well
