at a news conference on Thursday said that the youths would be engaged in the clearing of drainages, sweeping markets, road maintenance, traffic control, and cleaning of public infrastructures like health centres and schools.
Keyamo said the scheme targeted 1,000 youths each from the 774 local governments across the country and that the programme is one of the biggest social intervention schemes to be carried out within a short period of time by any government in the history of Nigeria.
The PUNCHng.com reports that the scheme, known as the Special Public Works Programme in the Rural Areas, is domiciled in the National Directorate of Employment for implementation and is expected to take off in October.

ReplyDelete20k for transport abi wat???? Failed leaders
DeleteAnother way for them to thief money.
DeleteNdi oshi
Another scam ehhhhhhhhhh
DeleteHmmmm another method stealing.
DeleteThieves. In my village, everywhere is kept clean by default. Age groups organise themselves and fill roads. That's the culture that should be promoted by sensitising the people on the importance of living in clean environments devoid of stagnant water et al. Creating a culture where people have to be paid to be clean is nothing but theifry BS.
DeleteBaskets, setup govt farms and pay people to work there instead. All these schemes with no genuine return is ridiculous. You can't put the nation in debt by borrowing billions and hand them out over dubious schemes. How will you repay the loans? Oil and taxes?
Delete01:21
DeleteVery very true
😂😂😂😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteNice one FG👌🙌
Then what happens to the state cleaners? This government is just confuse I swear.
ReplyDeleteWho did this to us?why are these leaders heartless?the same youth you refuse to empower will carry guns and rob your families or kidnap them,When it's time to free them they'll shoot them. What goes around comes around, keep looting Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteOh well at all at all na him bad pass
ReplyDeleteI just hope some don't eat what's meant for the youths
This is a good move provided they will be well paid and the process of employment will be transparent. The process must not be politicized.
ReplyDeleteif you believe this, you will believe anything.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good initiative, but, I hope they will be consistent with the monthly payment and not syphoned the money.
ReplyDeleteAt best they will select their political foot soldiers and thugs and place them on salary. 😏
ReplyDeleteAbi
DeletePayment on the pages of newspapers.

ReplyDeleteY'all are lying again!!!
ReplyDeleteSCAM!
ReplyDeleteAnother avenue to loot the loan they are about collecting.
ReplyDeleteMoney wey dey no go pay, what is even 20,000 in this modern Nigeria, monei wey no go even reach for feeding not to talk of tfare and housing.
ReplyDeleteShould we be happy that an unemployed youth is being paid 20,000 in a country blessed with enough material resources? What happened to creating good jobs with better payment? Let's be sincere to ourselves, what is 20,000? Can it carry for a month adequately? Already, states have people doing that already and are being paid 25,000 to 30,000. Why can't the government think out of the box for once? They should give their children the 20,000 and exchange jobless youths with the position of their children in various companies. Nonsense.
ReplyDeletesame way they claim they are feeding children from home during this covid?
ReplyDeleteSame way they claim to have given out cash to poorest of the poor yet no one can attest to it.
Whatever abeg
SMH, Hope their children will be part of the very wonderful scheme?
ReplyDeleteGood Night lovely BVS... Remember to fight your battles on your knees.

DeleteHope their children will be part
ReplyDeleteof it, Nigeria youths, leaders of tomorrow indeed.
That amount is too small, why not at least thirty thousand?
ReplyDeleteHow in the world is this a good move? Instead of the government to use this money to set up factories e.g textile factories, food processing factories (we have got food wasting away in rural areas cos of no money for transportation to markets/other states or the individuals willing to buy are exploiting these farmers, some would rather just let their goods waste than sell at the ridiculous prices), the govt can buy from these farmers at a fair price and transport it to the factories, these factories will provide employment for lots of people, plus useful skill acquisition too that will add value and worth to their lives.. what skill is anyone gonna get from sweeping the streets? what will happen to the cleaners that already exist? This is why China's economy is booming, those people are into skill acquisition, one person employs 10 people, train them, these 10 train 20, 20 train 40 and so one... at the end of the day, we are producing enough to start exporting.
ReplyDeleteSince you want to give people money for doing something, why don't you get them to do something useful that will help them in the future? In 2 or 3 years when this scheme gets scrapped cos it will! What then? Future empl:What did you learn form your last job which you held for 2 years? Errm..*scratches head* to sweep really well.🙄
Nigeria is such a joke. Smfh. It's better the govt should even set up farms and pay people this 20k to farm and manage these farms. We will have so much farm products at the end of the year.. the way it is, since nigeria can't be industrialized, agriculture is the way.
It won't be easy but it's a start, certainly better than avoiding the problem and coming up with mediocre ideals.
At this point we should be thinking of ideals that will bring us revenue. All we do is borrow money and spend.
I'm just so sad seeing this. *sigh!
Just another scheme to loot money. Simple!
God bless you for this write up. The reward for our leaders is up there👆👆👆
DeleteI hope they will be consistent
ReplyDeleteWhy wait till October sef??This government has come again oo looking for another scheme to sha put money for dem pocket

My own is....
ReplyDelete1000 x 774 = 774,000
774,000 x 20,000 = 15,480,000,000
#15.4b every month??? Isoryt!!!
Smh....another method to use and borrow
ReplyDelete...the thing is corruption will start from the village or community head that will compile the list of the lazy sorry jobless youth first before it will nove up the minister that will habdle the empowerment programme. Lol
ReplyDeleteHow much is minimum wage?
ReplyDeleteWell,at least some people will be employed if not gainfully ,we have many people surviving on less than #20k salaries, all I ask for is transparency and consistency in the scheme
ReplyDeleteNo word for the Federal government. Just sit down dey look
