Chinese Men Who Offered EFCC Top Official N100 Million Bribe Have Been Arrested..

The Sokoto Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested two Chinese: Mr. Meng Wei Kun and Mr. Xu Koi for offering a sum of N50, 000,000( Fifty Million Naira only) as bribe to its Zonal Head, Mr. Abdullahi Lawal. .

The suspects were arrested on Monday, May 11, 2020 in Sokoto. .
.
The bribe was allegedly offered in a desperate bid to compromise ongoing investigations of a construction company, China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd, handling contracts awarded by the Zamfara State Government in the sum of N50, 000,000,000.00(Fifty Billion Naira), between 2012 to 2019.
.
.
The zonal office of the Commission is investigating the construction company, in connection with the execution of contracts for the construction of township roads in Gummi, Bukkuyun, Anka and Nassarawa towns of Zamfara state; also, the construction of one hundred and sixty eight (168) solar- powered boreholes in the 14 local government areas of the state.
.
.
Alarmed by the consistency and professionalism of investigation being conducted, the company reached out to Lawal with an offer of N100,000,000( One Hundred Million Naira) as bribe to “bury” the matter. .
.
In a grand design to trap the corrupt officials, Lawal played along, and on Monday, two representatives of the company Meng Wei Kun and Xu Kuoi offered him cash totalling fifty million naira in their office along airport road, Sokoto. The cash was offered as a first installment.

  8. Thiese ones were awarded 50 billion naira contract since 2012 with nothing to show. Money just exchanging hands. I weep r my country. No mater how much you hate Buhari, his regime has exposed a lot of corruption at all levels. The amount of money nigerians steal from Nigerians I see mind boggling.

  11. 50 billion Naira for construction of roads and boreholes and these rat, worms and bats eating monsters refused to do the work they were paid to do!
They now want to bribe their way out of the crime of breach of contract.

These people are heartless and the Nigerian government who lead them on are heartless too.

Kudos to efcc chairman for playing along and setting them up. He beats them to the their own game, they thought they were smarter.

They should refund every penny of that money and then, they should be jailed.

People who commits such crime in China are executed.

  14. And probably were mobilised to do the contract. So, after years of doing nothing they tried to bribe their way and if the government official agreed to take the money, it will be certified and gazetted that the contract has been completed and handed over. They full money will now be paid to them. Wonderful!

And the Chinese men will bid (if at all) for other contracts and the cycle goes on. And they will take the money out of Nigeria in hard currency and FG will go cap in hand to beg for loan, with interest. Our money, indirectly.
    Wonderful!

And the Chinese will call and label us every kind of name for being foolish, greedy, corrupt and self destroyer.

If only all government workers can be and behave like these Zamfara government workers. If we don't aid and abet them, they will not destroy us.

Let them be jailed. Even China as a country might be "if they allow you cut corners, do but don't be caught". As they have been caught, they are on their own and Chinese government will not come to their rescue.
Jail the hell outta their names.
