He said God, our Father, is able to give us much more than what we give our children. This should encourage someone to pray without ceasing. We should never doubt God because Jesus has given us a scripture to the effect that God is ever willing to give us what He has promised in His Word. Jesus Christ has also revealed by the scripture above that God only gives good things to His children. James, the apostle, also buttressed this point when he said all good and perfect things come from God, James 1:17.

Luke 24:13-35
A life without Jesus could be boring. A life without Jesus could be very discouraging. A life without Jesus could be full of hopelessness. A life without Jesus could be meaningless. A life without Jesus is devoid of Joy, peace and excitement. In his three years of full and active ministry, Jesus had given joy, hope, peace, forgiveness, healing, love and assurance of eternal life to his people. But his arrest, sufferings, death and burial dashed all hopes built in and around Jesus. The meaning of followership could not be felt again. In the midst of all these, two of his disciples made up their minds to return to Emmaus and pick up their broken pieces of their life. But on the way, Jesus joined them and exposed their minds to the scriptures (though unrecognized) and when they were at table breaking the bread for them, they recognized him. His presence changed their situation and gave them reassurance. Their fears were gone, excitement restored, faith renewed and new life was given to these discouraged disciples. Are you living without Jesus? Are you discouraged in Jesus? Is there hopelessness in your life, family, relationship, work, marriage etc? Check it out, Jesus might be absent for your lack of faith. But he is here again today celebrating the liturgy of the word and breaking the bread of life for you. Your hopes can be rekindled, new life begins and you too can return from your Emmanus to Jerusalem to proclaim new life in Jesus. May the Lord show you the path of life (Psalm 16:11) Amen.

DeleteThe lockdown was declared amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus in Nigeria and people advised to remain indoors in order to stem the tide of its spread and ensure more people do not contract the virus. Has there been any success? Yes, minimal. It is minimal in the sense that individuals have to a large extent some control over exposure to the virus. That is to say that, if I remained indoors without contact with anyone, my chances of contracting the disease would greatly be reduced. But then, what are the chances of having most people perpetually remain indoors? In our economic climate, it is a mirage. Most people cannot afford it. Sooner or later, people will eventually be forced out of their cocoons. That is a very perilous situation. We are already there. The aim of this lockdown has been defeated ab initio. The more people refuse to adhere to it, the more exposed they are. It will also keep us locked at home as long as there isn't total compliance. It is important to state most Nigerians cannot afford the lockdown. What are their options? To remain indoors and die of hunger or cast their lots and come out. This is one of the resultant effects of years of bad governance. Most people live from hand to mouth.
ReplyDeleteWe must not also overlook the effects of gross irresponsibility on the part of certain state actors and other Nigerians well enough to survive indoors, but have refused to comply.
In all of this, what is the way out for us? There is only one- a vaccine. Without a vaccine, this fight against the virus will remain a merry-go-round. Come in Bill Gates. This guy has put a lot of work and effort into developing a vaccine against this malaise but to the astonishment of so many people, a lot of ignorant folks ( who appear to be in the majority) have dedicated their idle time towards rubbishing his work with outrageous and grossly outlandish conspiracies. If you condemn efforts made towards acquiring a permanent solution to this virus, what options have you put forward? The rantings of your pastors? Somebody even said White folks were against Gates. The Caucasians against him are Trumpards. They are averagely as dumb and unreasonable as their Nigerian Buharideens across the Atlantic. This virus is a threat to humanity. All hands must be on deck to fight it. We must cooperate with relevant authorities at all times as much as we can. The authorities must see to it that efforts are made towards cushioning the hunger and unrest that will result from the lockdown.

DeleteI'm also all for the vaccine against covid 19. I was having this same conversation with someone that a vaccine is our only hope of conquering this thing. But of course there would definitely be serious resistance to it. Same way people resisted and are still resisting most life saving, routine vaccines claiming it causes autism and death.
DeleteI totally understand what you are saying but people like me who are starving and desperately looking for money to take care of myself and a parent cannot afford to languish at home for 4weeks without any palliative from the government. If this lockdown continues I will have no choice but to look for away to fend for myself. A lot of people can say stay at home because they are comfortable but what about those who are worrying and under so much stress because they don't know where their next meal will come from. I was so moved to years after watching the video of some young guys that pay off hospitals bills of patients in orthopaedic Hospital.
Some of the patients bill were like three hundred thousand naira and more...
They will give each receipt of payment, bag of rice and transport fare and ask the patient to go home.
They were just rejoicing and praising God. It's really touching.
We will overcome this corona virus.

ReplyDeleteSomeone gisted me about how her friend's aunt that died sometime in feb was taken home for burial only for them to discover on getting to the village that they took the wrong body from the morgue. Pure double wahala for deadibody and the owner of deadibody.
Now they have to return to the body, and considering the state of roads during this period of lockdown, it wont be easy. Was this an ordianry mistake or spiritual manipulation?
